Hi,
I have done a search but couldn't find anything regarding the actual selection of the 850MHz band in any ICS based ROM. I recall in 2.3.x, I would be able to get to a service menu through *#*#0011#*#* and select what bands/frequencies I would like to use. Ever since I've been on ICS, the service/secret menu codes don't seem to work....is there any method of manually selecting which bands to use?
Thanks in advance.
*#*#0011#*#* does work on ICS (at least with CM9, it displays which band is in use)
Just flash the KG3 modem and you will be sure that 850 MHz is working.

thanks for the reply.
I am currently using the KG3 modem with DK3...I think that is based off of the Nexus version of ICS. Happen to know if there is any other method of getting to the service menu on a pure google based ROM?

the service menus are a .apk that the rom dev needs to include in the ROM. therefore if the rom does not have the service menu post a request for it to be added in the ROM's dev thread

Changed to Custom roms stock based like Darkys jvu-Re and its the same
I have a GT i9000T from telcel
please i need help to get my data connection as i had before
I dont remember GB settings so much since i've been in icssgs for a long time now, but in call settings (or something like that) try to find a setting wich allows you to change between: UMTS only, HDSPA only or HDSPA + UMTS (something like that). Try selecrting HDSPA only. It should work.

1.5 years ago I bought in the US a T-Mobile Galaxy Tab 7" with Froyo as standard. Last year I decided to upgrade to unlock it and then to upgrade to Gingerbread by following the guides on the sire, all good. A few weeks ago unfortunately I poured a glass of red wine over it, and the Galaxy entered in a boot loop with serious issue on the on/off buttons. After trying to revive it I brought it to a Samsung service where very nicely they cleaned it and gave it back to me in T-Mobile Froyo status, all free of charge. I would like now to reunlock it and upgrade it, so question:
- can I upgrade to Honeycomb? from what I read here not that stable plus my tablet not powerful enough
- If not, is there what is the most stable Gingerbread release in order to be able to make phone calls? I've searched extensively on the site but I'm still confused at all the options.
wow. how generous the service center is.
There is no Honeycomb for our tab. There was an RC version but I think all links are dead.
There is CM9 ICS if you want to try, it is still a Work In Progress, you can try one of the nightly builds.
For stable GB there are plenty. Overcome 4.1 is very popular. I am using Acudroid. There is also Hyperdroid.
I have a T-mobile tab using JPZ modem, but I am in Australia. I can use voice call and 3G.
But if you use this modem in T-mobile network, if I am not mistaken you can make call but with 2G data only.
If you keep your original modem, it will be no call but you get 3G (that is my understanding)

Thanks priyana, major differences between Overcome & Acudroid?

Well, I live in the UAE, so not really care about T-Mobile. I searched a little bit online, am I correct to assume that Overcome is basically a 2.3.6 Gingerbread with improvements and very stable?
Yes. Very stable.
Somehow I got unexplained batt drain on Overcome 4.1 no matter what I do to recond the batt.
Just switched to acudroid and it is fine, although acudroid doesn't have it's own kernel.
Btw, what is UAE's gsm/hsdpa freq.
Here I have like europe and SE Asia. And JPZ modem is suitable for it.

At the end I followed your first advice, and installed Overcome. Have to admit that the instructions are fairly easy (apart from the link to the pics which are outdated), and it seems quite stable.

JPZ is also good here, I reflashed that modem after finishing installation with Overcome, and now making calls works fine (haven't tested data via 3G yet, but don't really use it, you got wi-fi everywhere).
It is always good to try out Overcome.
From there it will be easy to try out CM9 or AOKP ROMs.
Have fun.

Hi there,
We tried to update a telstra branded P7320T Gtab (Honeycomb 3.2) to the ICS releases based off the 4.0.4 drops from Scandanavian providers for the P7320 i.e Arlics Rom (this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923371 ).
Everything works fine; however 4G APN's do no register, this is most likely a Kernel/Qualcom band mismatch with the Telstra baseband and the updated kernel version in the ICS builds.
Arlics rom does not contain modem/basebands so it is most likely the updated kernel drivers in the 4.0.4 drops misbehaving with the P7320T baseband used by Telstra and Telecom NZ's trail.
Reverting to the Telstra stock solves the problem.
This was tried off a Test Telecom NZ LTE APN (no UMTS functionality - UTMS works ok however).
I would like to hear from any Telstra Australia users who know they are in LTE areas whether or not they get LTE on Gtabs running this rom.
- Apologies for posting here; and not in the thread, the forum policy prevents me from posting their.

Similar experience
I had a similar problem. When I flashed the leaked rom (which wasn't from a Scandinavian provider, by the way, but from a Polish one - forums got it wrong), LTE stopped working. Haven't tried Arlicc's, reluctant to especially now that it seems abandoned.
Sad that the 7320 gets so little love Official ICS release here in Norway has been delayed yet again for the umpteenth time.
You should try the latest version available (XXLPI - to be installed by Odin, no wipe necessary). It seems much better at switching between 4G and GSM/CDMA than the early ICS OTA version I used to have (the one the Arlicc's ROM is based on).

Are you using that on Telstra's network ? Can you post the baseband version?
Sorry, I'm using it in Poland however it's dedicated for other parts of Europe. It contains an upgrade to baseband version P7320XXLP7.
Did not succeed
Until I downgraded this to the last NCM version (a Honeycomb version) again, I couldn't get LTE to work. The TEN Ice Cream Sandwich version from 5.12 did not permit LTE, despite being a Norwegian carrier and me being in Norway.
GSM users on AOSP ROMs may experience random reboots. The problem only seems to occur when connected to LTE and switching cell towers, like when driving. I believe that many users have mistaken this for GPS problems, when in fact the reboot is triggered by the baseband. I've been using the VS980 with T-Mobile. The problem occurs on all Kitkat and Lollipop AOSP roms, but not on stock. I seem to have found a solid solution. This is a flashable 26A modem with the 11A baseband firmware:
Download 26A+11A Hybrid Modem
The 26A hybrid works with all roms that work with the 26A modem, both AOSP and stock. I have tested this one extensively with several roms and it works great. I used it for a week with zero reboots. For users with reboot issues, I recommend using a 26A based rom and this modem.
What about 39A?
I had previously posted a 39A/11A hybrid. It doesn't work--the phone reboots on incoming calls. Soon I will try a 39A/12B hybrid.
Details
The modem partition that we've been flashing is actually a FAT partition that contains many binaries. These binaries run in various parts of the SOC controlling audio DSP, DRM, WLAN, the baseband, and more. I don't know what all the parts do, but the baseband firmware is just one of these parts. The baseband firmware is a self contained proprietary RTOS that runs in a dedicated processing core in the SOC. Apparently the differences between modem partitions that make older ones incompatible with newer roms is not due to the baseband itself. The old 11A baseband firmware still works great and does not cause reboots when used with AOSP roms.
Why 11A
I was experimenting with NVRAM edits to unlock support of additional bands. I found that 11A is the last firmware that pays attention to the relevant values. All later basebands have hardcoded values that will revert the edits. It follows that the later basebands have been more deeply modified for Verizon and that 11A is a more generic G2 baseband. Other basebands may work well too, but I haven't tried it. This was the first one that I tried and it works great. I seem to be getting a stronger signal and better data speed, but it could be placebo. As an added bonus it is possible to experiment further with band unlocking.
Will this work on vs98039a stock on micromods xtream 1.1 rom?

No. That is a modified stock 39A rom. The 39A hybrid modem only works with AOSP based roms.
So is this just for GSM users? I have a VS980 on Verizon running AOD rom.. I have random reboots lol

Give it a shot, it might help. You can always flash back to your current modem. Let us know how it works out.
Flashed this on unofficial cm 12. We'll see how it goes.
Will this baseband allow me to enable LTE bands 2, 5, and 17 for usage on AT&T? @jacob019, I saw your post in the in the LTE unlock thread. Were you ever able to get LTE band 17 working on T-Mobile?
This is the post I'm referring to:

Yes and no. Yes, it will allow you to modify the NV values needed to unlock bands. I tried unlocking band 17, but my phone never connected to it. I think the hardware doesn't contain the necessary filters to support the band. Unlocking other bands may work, but I didn't have any to test.
Is it possible that T-mobile doesn't use band 17 in your area? According to this link, they only use LTE bands 2, 4, and 12 currently.
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/02/0...sm-cdma-wcdma-lte-verizon-att-sprint-tmobile/
@jacob019, have you tried bands 2 and 12? As far as I can tell, T-mobile doesn't use band 17
I tried band 17 with an ATT sim. I only get T-Mobile LTE on band 4 here in Indianapolis, even with a phone that supports the other bands. Therefore I have been unable to test any other bands.
can you talk and surf at the same time coming off of LTE (without wifi of course). On a normal Tmobile headset, when you are on LTE, it'll drop down to hspa to connect to the call still allowing you to surf. Verizon model seems to drop all the way down to GPRS when a call is made if you are on LTE at the time the call is made. When in GPRS mode, data is disabled.
will this work on d802?
I have the T 817 T (which is the T-Mobile LTE version of the tablet) but there's nothing available in the way of custom roms or anything... I was wondering if I could flash a ROM meant for the Wi-Fi only Version of this tablet...i know I obviously wouldn't have LTE access but would it boot and run otherwise?
I remember back in the days of the original Nexus 7 I could Flash Roms meant for the Wi-Fi only version on my LTE without issue.... Thanks for any input guys.
