Hi,
This is a small CWM zip to add the line to your existing boot and recovery partitions to fix the ram issue with the international unlocked bootloader. If the second mem is already there it does nothing.
The point of this is you can have a regular recovery flashed and fix the ram issue without wondering what tegra part you have, it preserves your serial number as well. More useful with stock boot images than custom ones that already have this done.
To use:
Flash with a CWM recovery supporting edify scripting. That means you have an unlocked recovery basically. The program inside the zip can be used on it's own to list the cmdlines already in your phone, or to set them to something else.
As cmdline, it lists, as setcmdline it sets the entire thing, as addcmdline it adds on to the end of the existing cmdline.Cheers!
Great! Looks like our bell friends are having good development as well.

So would i need to flash this once and then any ROM I install will have fixed RAM, or do I need to flash this after every installation?

You can just keep it handy on your sdcard and use when needed, it depends on the "rom" you flash, it may or may not have a ram fix solution built in.
Cheers!

It depends on the Kernel the Rom has within it, nothing else.
Furthermore, no offense. But this is kinda useless now. Did you not know we have unified Kernel's? If someone made a Rom without a unified kernel, they can basically shove that Rom.
I do not see a point in this at all. I guess maybe for testing old Roms.....

Hi,
I addressed this already in the OP. It's more for use with stock kernels.
Can you compile the motorola kernel source (pick one) and get a binary exact match for the stock Bell kernel?
No offense to the guys working on kernel's here, but I am not really compelled by the added features/bug fixes, and am concerned more about stability, especially when the source seems to be ATT based. Which is fine if you are running an ATT framework "rom/theme" I guess, even better if you have an ATT phone.
Cheers!

This is the initial release of HTC-Holiday-2.6.35-kx, a custom kernel for the HTC Vivid.
This is currently only for PirateGhosts's RumRaider Beta10, but may work with other versions of RR.

1. Fastboot flash the boot.img
2. adb push the bcm4330.ko (WiFi module) to /system/lib/modules

Kernel breaks camera
Instructions for porting to other ROMs.
Unpack the kx boot.img
Unpack the boot.img of the ROM you are porting to
Replace the ROM's zImage with the zImage from this kernel
Repack boot.img, flash with fastboot, and push the wifi module
This should, but is not guaranteed to work. Flash at your own risk.
I wish I knew more about this stuff, but unfortunately I don't and here comes a noob question:
Should the kernel not work properly or cause a boot loop etc...would I need to just re-flash the ROM from CWM? Also, will this still work with the Rogers HTC Raider?
So this is based on the Sense 3.5 kernel from Telstra? I guess it will work on any ROM based on this one, right?
Thank you so much!

If something goes wrong, you should be able to just fastboot flash the original boot.img. It's always a good idea to make a nandroid / Titanium backup before flashing anything though.

This is based on HTC's ATT Vivid sources, packed with the ramdisk from RumRaider 10. It should work with any ROM currently available, but would have to be repacked with the respective ramdisk. Read: This will not work out of the box for any ROM other than RumRaider.

This is on hold until I can figure the overclocking on this out. I compiled Raider sources, and bananacake's kernel, and am unable to change clock speeds past 1.2GHz in SetCPU.

many define a custom rom by the option to compile a kernel from source.
we cannot include a modified kernel, without semi-bricking our devices.
but we can change startup and we can init kernel parameters a second time, to allow loading of different services and libraries, which for some is enough to load a customized kernel for graphics mod, removing adware, loading modules and porting cm10,aokp and other roms, like sense or similar miui roms.
i personally believe a port of highly modified rom, is custom. other believe its not a real rom
anyways with the clockworkmod i made its possible, as long as you do the same hijack when needed to change kernel init services or libraries to load.

lack of support from more developers i guess, seems other hardware devices are more popular, and propably much easier to get donations on that on a device with locked bootloaders where development stops at the locked device. today, donations is very popular and driving many towards popular devices.
Hello everyone,
I'm are proud to bring you the latest rooted kernels based on samsung stock kernels that you may find in ROMs by Samsung.
Why should i use this kernel?
My kernels are uber-minimal modification of stock kernel used only for rooting (no custom recovery is installed). So the kernel it's like stock just rooted, and there is small chance (or any chance) that it will be detected as modified by service center at the first look
Please find latest of kernels listed below:
*NEW* ROOTED! I9300XXELLB - Jelly Bean (4.1.2) - CL: 748978 - B.Date: 26.12.2012 - Download HERE!
[uname: Linux version 3.0.31-748978 () (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Dec 26 15:40:05 KST 2012]
Instructions:
1. Flash tar file of choosen kernel using Odin
2. Profit!
What's included in this kernel
- Base image of kernel is 100% pure stock by samsung
- adbd in insecure mode (so adb shell will be automatically connected with root priviliges)
Nothing more, nothing less - Enjoy!
If you like my modifications, support me with even a little donation for a beer -> Click to donate!
WARNING: Flashing this kernel will pop-up your custom binary counter! (as when rooting )
Enjoy!

SDS fix is not in kernel but bootloader and yes, this version (if you will flash full rom) have new bootloader with fixes.

Personally I always thought original means ORIGINALly YOURs (you are the author, not copied), not original Samsung....
But. .. maybe mistaken. ..
Variety makes this forum better anyway. ..
Kernel base is 100% oryginal, its not recompiled or compiled from sources, so in that meaning its 100% STOCK KERNEL.
Insecure kernels have modded adbd and other settings needed to run is as root in INITRAMFS of kernel.
This make it ROOTED STOCK KERNEL 100%

You're mixing up the meaning of original, this section if for original works in the meaning they are made by users (Compiled kernel/ROM/program), not original in the sense as the manufacturer delivers them. It's written in the sticky in the development forum or in the portal post. Repacking kernels isn't original development. Read.

Actually yes it is confirmed it's in the kernel because we have the kernel code and patch regarding the issue.
Something else?
Sorry for misleading, i didnt noticed the topic with patch, i cant track everyhing.
this thread is about insecure kernel mod not a patch for death of SGS, so please no more offtopic here.
Insecure kernels are stock base (zImage is not modified) kernel with modded initramfs, where STOCK means no "tweaks" in kernel code was made. All insecure kernels works like this so i dont see a point of bashing me for saying its STOCK cause base of kernel is.
I asked mod to clean the thread.

Why? It's a development discussion. You can't just go ask a moderator to delete things every time because somebody else is correcting you. That's bothering and abusing moderators.
it is original work. its modded initram by me , base is stock. if you dont like it, dont use it. if you dont like my reference to stock, then dont like it, i dont care.
I asked to clean the thread because you are not discussing, just attacking my work.
I have moved the thread to the Development Forum.
Can the arguments stop now please?
Keep it on topic or leave the thread alone.

but again, i wouldnt do it unless im sure that the bootloader is expected to work with that ROM. best is to recompile the ROM you're using yourself and see if the Kernel name changes under About Phone

I want to test my own KERNEL not a custom ROM. If you flash a corrupted kernel you can hardbrick your device with ease. Imagine you develop ur own kernel, flashed it and youre device just turned into useless piece of electronic. Terrible.
