anyone interested in a realy smal (4.5k) app that turns your keyb windoze key into a ctrl key? it doesnt show anything onscreen and you can only close it through a process manager but i find it incredibly useful for going through my irssi tabs in putty.
if anyone is interested il upload it
hellz yeah
that'd be sweet, but only if windows can copy and past with it!
yep thats how i pull links from irc - stil on kaiser atm and opera mini wont let me upload files so ill upload it when im back at pc
here it is - i couldnt get it to work like a real ctrl key (i.e. press and hold then press another key) - instead you gotta first press and release the win key and then press the other key, but it does the job
maybe i'm little slow tonight. . .a few drinks don't help, but where do i put the file? startup?
run it first then copy it to startup
sorry, yea just run it from anywhere and itll hook into the keyboard and turn your windows key into a ctrl key - hope someone finds it useful
This is exactly what I've been hoping for. Thanks for this. Makes copy/paste so much easier!
Does it work with Office Mobile, for example, selecting two or three different cells that are separated in Excel?
yep it works as expected in excel
glad people are finding this useful ^-^
After a quick search, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks for sharing!!
Control & Escape Keys on Slide Keyboard
Hi, I just got an HTC FUZE a few weeks ago and I noticed there are no Ctrl or Esc keys on the slide keyboard. I have to hook up with UNIX servers a lot via VPN when I am on the go and these keys are essential in a UNIX session. Can your app be tweaked to possibly map the OK key to Ctrl and the Left Shift key to Esc. This would be extremely useful. I was able to partially solve this by loading the "Happy Tapper" screen keyboard layouts that have Ctrl and Esc keys. But it sure would be much more convenient to use the slide keyboard. Thank you to Doug for sending me the link to this thread.
Trent
I downloaded a hex editor and a rom and loaded the rom onto the hex editor.
But that kind of stuff is far above me.
I'm trying to edit the keyboard mapping, i need to switch some keys around.
I have the tilt, i would really like someone experienced to help me with this because my keyboard is basically useless right now, and ill have to buy a new phone if i cant fix it.
is there not a cab file to change from the tilt to the keyboard mapping you require?
The answer is...(drum roll please)..YES!
use the forum search option for "tilt keyboard fix" and you will be pleasantly surprised.
plz remember that unlike your girlfriend search will always be there for you. ;-)

lol i know theres that fix i just wasnt sure if it was tilt to kaiser one he required lol
no its not the keyboard fix i know about that. My issue is unique, i need to remap some of my letters. I'm fairly certain the issue involves modifiying a rom, it doesn't matter which, and to do this i would have to use a hex editor.

what keys do you need to remap and maybe someone will know a fix.
ok my k,n, i m, and period keys are unresponsive. this is a hardware issue, ill explain further if u want. this makes the keyboard quite useless without these keys functioning.
I never use my arrow keys so I would like to map each faulty letter key (K,n,i,n,.) to a corresponding arrow, and maybe the "ok" or "tab" button.
basically when i press left arrow, the letter p would pop up...etc
i would be truly gratified if u guys helped me fix this, because ill get a cheap unbreakable phone if the tilt wont fully work. Its been really frustrating,
how old is your kaiser?
do you have a warranty on it still?
could be easier to have it replaced.
well thats where i mentioned i could go into depth further. I cracked my screen, and replaced it myself. In the process I accidently nicked the side of the ribbon wire connecting the keyboard to the main unit. This resulted in those 5 keys becoming unresponsive.
I got the phone about 6 months ago, but the warranty was voided when i took the phone apart to replace the screen.
AE Button Mapper use google..... "Not AE Button Plus"
ok i downloaded it and got it installed but i have no clue how to use it.
theres some buttons to reassign keys however u have to press the key you want to reassign and that it not possible being that those keys are disconnected.
ok little update, i think the AEK program will work, however the first step is it has to create a chart by logging all the keys. You have to press all the keys individually and it logs them with a four digit number. For example pressing the letter "d" logs key 0044. Once all the keys are logged you can type them up in a text document and mix and match accordingly.
My obstacle is that i cannot press my keys that are unresponsive, for them to be logged. I tried to find a pattern by pressing keys around these and saw nothing that made any sense.
I'm not sure if the numerical values attached are standard for every application in the phone, or specific to the AEK program. I can't find a thread, that would list the value for those letters i can't press.
Does anyone know if there is a chart with all the values assigned to each key of the tilt?
Snowman, give me a link to this AEK program and I'll use it to log all my keys on my tilt, then perhaps we can compare them to what you have and hopefully get the missing codes for you
Moved to General.
Hex Editing a ROM file won't get what you need. I've seen people trying to patch the keyboard driver for this, but no success. Sorry, couldn't be more help .

ok thanks for the info
any news on working and which program/driver you need for it?
found one cheap and maybe could get it if it works nicely on HD2
gimme your recommendations or hates!
Yes it works,i use them both regularly.
You don't need any soft/driver,just pair it over bluetooth and you'r good to go!
how about in android? anybody know how to use the BTKB under android???
I tested on my hd2 with android ... the dinovo mini paared but not connected :-/
I will try today more ..... the dell striked works with the keyboard but I don't know how.
I think there's a solution with "BlueInput for Android" but this cost 9,99
I test the demo version .... no connect to the keyboard :-/
The Dinovo mini works perfectly. I personally use it. although i don't know about the mouse, i had an issue with a few key mappings in the start but when i flashed another rom, they disappeared and now works like a charm
It would be good to know how well the mouse works too, and what needs to be done to get it working along with the keyboard.
how do you get the dinovo mini work on android ???
With Samsung galaxy S work really fine, you must pair the device pushing the red button in the back of the keyboard(dinovo) then search for bluethoot peripherical, and select the keyboard. The phone will provide you the pin, that you will insert in the dinovo keyboard (now they are paired).
Automatically all will work, the only trouble is that i don't find any combo for activate the "menu" function. the combo ctrl-alt-canc work also as reset, now functionality of multimedia buttons.
with the fn+OK (right button) you will emulate the "back" button of the phone.
Really good product, worked fine in linux, windows and macos, without any driver or external software.
P.S. is funny to see the mouse icon in the phone
I hope that those small suggestion will help you in use this, and sorry for my bad english!
I wish somebody could tell me that this works with hd2 android..

Use BlueInput Demo or BlueKeyboard JP =D
ive been looking into this on the captivate forum and found this about changing keymappings for dinovo on android.
they changed keymappings for several android keyboard languages and an ADB script to push it to the phone. its for QWERTY dinovo and QWERTY, AZERTY & QWERTZ android layouts
http://android.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=321868&mode=linear
they mapped
Working :
- Vol Up / Down
- "Vol off" is mapped to "HOME" key
- "Record on" is mapped to "MENU" key
- bottom-right key mapped to BACK
- "Windows" key is mapped to "HOME" key
- "Control" key is mapped to "Alt left" key
- "Alt Right" key is mapped to... "Alt right" key
- "Maj left" is mapped to "Shift left" key
- "Maj right" is mapped to "Shift right" key
- All other keys should be mapped as shown on the keyboard layout.

My Atrix 4G suggests only to try 0000 or 1234, but neither of those work. Further, I use the screen keyboard on the phone to insert the PIN-code, not the diNovo, since it isn't paired yet...
Did someone manage to pair their diNovo Mini with an Atrix?
read the documentation that came with the dinovo.... or download the pdf guide from logitech support,
So I bought the HP Touchpad Wireless keyboard for my TP and love it. My only problem at this point is that some of the buttons don't work on Android. Obviously the Card button which was meant for WebOS does nothing here, and even though the Play/Pause button works, the skip track prev and next do not. I see that most of the keys are still sending inputs file the KeyEvent program, but are not mapped properly.
I tried changing one of the keyboard files (when googling this it was recommended I change qwerty.kl) to properly map to the input the keyboard was sending, but it didn't appear to have any effect. My suspicion is that perhaps the HP BT keyboard uses something like /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl instead of qwerty.kl, but how do I know for sure? There are like a dozen in there. Is there a way I can make a customized one and somehow tell CM9 to point to that layout file when the BT keyboard connects?
So I've been experimenting with turning my Note 3 into a mobile media and gaming device. The media part works well (other than a few hiccups with my hdmi connector from time to time). However, I am running into issues playing games with my keyboard.
The specific app I am having issues with is QIII4A, with Open Arena. I can bind my movement keys in the game settings just fine, and my mouse works well. The problem is that my movement keys do not work, at all, when bound to WASD (technically their Dvorak equivalent, but I don't believe that's the issue). When bound to the arrow keys I can move just fine. Crouch and jump also work, Ctrl and space respectively.
I believe it's an issue with my input, possibly not repeatedly sending a key press like it would on a Computer. I use External Keyboard Helper Pro as my input method when I have a keyboard attached. I've played with the settings that seem relevant (pause before key repeating set to none, also tried do not repeat as a test).
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could get this working? I could change my keyboard layout in EKH, but I'd rather avoid this if possible.
Additionally, is it possible to unbind or rebind mouse keys? Mouse 2 as back is rather annoying.
I'm running root stock mj5, if it matters.
Thanks!

So I've done a bit more testing and it seems to be a problem with any games. Curious to know if there's a known workaround.
On further testing, I noticed that as I hold a movement key I do get some motion, just incredibly slow. Seems that it is sending a string of keypresses instead of one, long keypress. This is also why the jump and use keys work fine, as one short press is plenty. Crtl, alt, and the arrow keys or "gamepad up/down/left/right" as they're mapped work fine.
I did go ahead and create a new layout for gaming, so in the mean time that is probably a decent compromise. Just wish I could go all the way so I could type and game with the same layout. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to post a walkthrough on the key remapping process using external keyboard helper.
