I am using this, I have to say it is much much better when using the hard keys. No need to press Shift or Control anymore! Like typing on the Treo...
It was a chore setting up the key mapping, but it works perfectly afterwards.
Let me know if anyone want the key map to Att Tilt.
I have been looking for the key mapping forever for this app
please post the keymap for the ATT Tilt for the MagiKB 1.1 program. I came from a Treo 750 to a Tilt and it was the one program that I missed using (did NOT wanna set up all the mapping - wasn't quite sure how). Thanx
Looks nice really.
great program - please post the mapping
+1 post the mapping!!!
Att Tilt Keymap
Well, here is the key maps.
Please note, I am using a ATT TILT, with OEM ROM, without the Cingular addons, but if yours is not a TILT, then you might need a corresponding key map set up if the hardkeys are different from the TILT.
Also, I set up the key mapping so that only the keys with LETTERS will be used (when holding down, or double clicking). That means, for the symbol "," and "." and "$" you will still have to press the Fn key.
I can always change the mapping to whatever suits you, or you can do it yourself....
Install MagiKB first, then move this .lay file to your My Documents\MagiKB Lite folder. Then you can select the key map from MagiKB program.
thanks a lot - a great help
Could you please re-post the tilt keymap download link. Other link doesn't seem to be working. Thanks for the hard work on it.
EDIT: Sorry, got it. Thanks again.
you mentioned there's a difference between the Tilt? Would there be a difference to stock Kaiser then?
I have an ATT Tilt, so I don't know if the keyboard layout is exactly the same as an Unbranded Kaiser (I don't have a unbranded kaiser to look at).
If the keyboard layout is the same, then the key map should work.
Nevermind. It works.
Does anyone know how to capture the key for the left arrow/comma on the tilt? I would like to map it to the comma, but it's not in this key map file.
Adding additional key mapping to MagiKB ?

Solved/ignore; Can you explain how to map the directional arrow keys and their Fn counterparts? I like the way MagiKB simplifies capitalization and the Number Pad especially, but would like the WIN key mapped to "CTRL" - makes copy, cut and paste much easier.

OMG, this has got to be the best tip ever!
Entering items such as the "?" were always the one thing I hated about the keyboard (I came from a Treo 750). Now thanks to you I LOVE the keyboard
Thank you very much!
Thanks again!!
No problem, I came from a Treo 650, so the Tilt's keyboard bothered me too. This makes the transition to a Tilt so much smoother.
About the key maps, I am currently away from the country and unable to play with the keymaps, but I will be back home in 2 weeks.
I might get a chance to play with it here, in which case I'll post an update.
Sorry!
Anyone tried Magikb with WM 6.1? Installs, looks fine, but none of the commands work. Am I missing something?

After installation, select a proper key map from menu or edit the current key map.
Hi:
I was using this layout and program and LOVED it. The only problem is that after upgrading to WM6.1 (official ATT), The layout will no longer appear, when I go to select a layout.
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much!!

Yeah because the layout was stored in My Documents\MagiKB Lite in phone memory by upgrading to wm6.1 you deleted that folder with the layout in it.
Download the layout again and put it to the above-mentioned folder.
Hi,
I dont have bluetooth mouse here, so I cannot test mouse pointing in RDP (remote desktop) apps running on Dell Streak. I have read a topic on Engadget about paring keyboard & mouse device with Dell Streak, the mouse pointer & scrolling didnt work. However, my concern is in RDP apps.
Please anyone takes a test if you have both BT mouse & Dell Streak to see how they work together.
Thanks,

I have MS brand and it works good with wyse remote with cursor showing on the screen. You will just have left click working. By holding left button,I can move screen to different section of larger pc screen.
A great news. right click can be emulated by autoHotKey.
Thanks
DJ Steve's ROM...
I recently (less than 24hrs) ago installed a cooked rom by DJ Steve - with this rom when I pair to my BT mouse I get a mouse cursor in the normal android OS. Scroll wheel acts like arrow keys, and clicking works. I was able to open the notifications pane by clicking and dragging.
I have not yet tried RDP. Maybe tonight.

All you need to do to get this up and running is Pair your BT Keyboard to the nook by selecting it and typing the code 1111 and pressing okay. Then on the actual keyboard press 1111 and Enter. It will Pair.
To get it working as a keyboard you need to get from Market "Bluetooth Keyboard JT" and set that up.
Works quite well while its paired

Hi! I asked about how to get the apple keyboard working in the YT-comments. I was hoping that app would magically make it work, but apparently it's just the good old Null Keyboard with a different name.
Looks like I'm going to have to try that MIUI rom

To get it connected as a keyboard you need to get from Market "Bluetooth Keyboard JT" and set that up, it takes a few tries. Works quite well while its paired I dropped connection once during the video but that was at the end.
I thought this was already known, in the thread where there is a list of functional bluetooth devices?
I like using my wiimote better for NES games anywho.
I tried out the apple BT keyboard and a no name cheap plastic one today. Both worked fine apart from the CTRL and ALT keys not working.
I tried to use them just taking a note in GNote and also within open office in ubuntu.
I came home and did some research on the net and it seems that Gingerbread doesn't recognize the CTRL and ALT keys. But that infor was from mid last year, so I'm wondering whether anyone has been able to get the CTRL and ALT keys working in GB?
Otherwise I guess I'll wait til the ICS upgrade before buying a BT keyboard.
Not being able to use the keyboard to copy and paste would be a deal breaker for me.
Thanks,
Rich
So I bought the HP Touchpad Wireless keyboard for my TP and love it. My only problem at this point is that some of the buttons don't work on Android. Obviously the Card button which was meant for WebOS does nothing here, and even though the Play/Pause button works, the skip track prev and next do not. I see that most of the keys are still sending inputs file the KeyEvent program, but are not mapped properly.
I tried changing one of the keyboard files (when googling this it was recommended I change qwerty.kl) to properly map to the input the keyboard was sending, but it didn't appear to have any effect. My suspicion is that perhaps the HP BT keyboard uses something like /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl instead of qwerty.kl, but how do I know for sure? There are like a dozen in there. Is there a way I can make a customized one and somehow tell CM9 to point to that layout file when the BT keyboard connects?
