I recently update to Criskelo's ICS V2 LP6 in my galaxy note and now I have a question, is this version already rooted? I do this question because i dont see the superuser icon now
Can you see the CWM app?
Run it and see if it asks you to grant or deny permission.
You have root if you can see it.

yes i have the CWM
I have the CWM icon, But it doesnt ask me anything about permit or deny
How did you go from GB to ICS?

I installed the zip in the CWM recovery mode and then i did the FULL WIPE... or can someone tell me how to root this ROM?
You probably lost root..try to paste anything in /system directory with a file manager app..
If you can't do that then you'll have to go back to Gingerbread with PC Odin and start from scratch with root etc..
You can try to install the Busybox Installer from the Play Store but chances are you lost root when you flashed the ICS rom.

i really need help with rooting my samsung captivate froyo 2.2 because i have no usb cord and my phones charger port is screwed up so i have to charge it by a battery charger just for the battery so i need a zip file so i can root my phone but i dont know were to get the root file at or how to do it...i do have a computer were i could transfer things on my sd card but nothing else...please help!!
Very sorry to say, but you're sol.
2.2 and up have 3e recovery which requires signed zips. A signed root zip does not exist.
ok well thanks on letting me know that...i guess im gonna have to get parts for my phone and a usb so i can do that...thanks
my buddy rooted his 2.2 prevail via an app on the market. worth a shot. maybe you can get rom manager to install a cwm kernel from there. wifi sync will probably be of use unless you download it using your phone.
Try z4 root app from market I used it to root one of my phones

here are some possible solutions:
dl a signed apk for root app from interweb > check the Install Unknown apps in settings > install root app > once rooted get CWM from market > flash recovery in CWM > press CWM option to reboot into recovery > choose install zip > install update file > reboot recovery (maybe have to try rebooting to recovery twice).
if not rooted then look up superuser in market and try to install. if unable to find superuser then go to app brain on interweb (it is a 2nd market)> dl app > install app from myfiles > look up apps to try and conplete steps above.
If rooted but cwm does not work, dl from xda thread mobile odin 1.25. or get pro version to always be rooted adter each flash. This app allows you to flash stock GB rom with boot loaders.
I got a few cables on amazon for $4 each. just be sure to read reviews.
good luck

There is no unknown sources in setting on stock. you have to enable that with super one click, or use the side load wonder machine. Both of which require a USB port.
Dunno why people keep posing suggestions that won't work?
Any solution will require a USB, unless you somehow get in touch with Samsung and they send you a signed root zip, which that's as likely as me giving birth to a dodo bird

+2 Have to agree...again.
after root my phone the superuser and cwm not show on my phone.anyone know why does this happen?
Your phone is not rooted if it has no SU and no CWM.
Download titanium backup from store to see whether it works.

which Method did you used to root ? I suggest that you use CF-Root with InitialCFRootFlasher follow the steps in this post you will not encounter any of binary counted and yellow triangle. I am ready for farther help if needed.
Which ROM you have installed on note?

the device was un-rooted
i am using cm9 and i don't want to re-flash the rom
please advise any other method to root the device without re-flash the rom
Hm i believe cm9 should be pre-rooted :fingers-crossed:
Take a look at Systemsettings > Developersettings > Root-access
yes, you r right.
but it was unrooted
Flash a semaphore for example

install supersu or superuser app from market and then try some app which requires root.. if it asks for root permissions and after allowing it is working fine then your device is rooted and working fine..
Just download a root zip and flash with cwm or andriod recovery mode, it wont disturb your romĀ¬ & SU will auto installed-
for example, you can follow instruction on this post [ For I9001 phone ]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253707
Please answer.fast: a friend has the problem wants to root her i9000 and im not sure if this i9001 file works?
I need only a short yes or no. (please dont answer at random)

Easiest way to do it is to flash Philz kernel in stock recovery. Temp CWM.zip file was discovered to be dangerous.

He wants to unroot, not root.
@OP why don't you simply flash stock JB firmware via PC Odin ?
If you want OTA update top jb, you'll have to use stock ICS which isn't safe (the kernel, I mean).
Also, change the thread title. It gives the impression that you're a zombie.

thats right
dont use cwm. zip or any temp recovery its dangerous
Flash Stock JB via ODIN. It will unroot your phone.
i have a galaxy tab p1000 v/ gingerbread 2.3.3. i followed the instructions on installing the GB-Stock-Safe-v5.zip and Overcome v4.0.0 kernel using heimdall utility. After a couple of tries, i was able to get the kernel to install and things are working fine. I thought Overcome v4.0.0 kernel install will give me root access but apparently not. Can i run the doomsLord v4 rooting toolkit to root this or not? I dont' want to mess it up again and redo the entire install process to fix again. Also, i downloaded the clockworkmod app from the google store but it doesn't support the p1000. How and where do i obtain custom roms and install on this device? can i download cyanogenmod custom rom, put it in the sd card and boot to recovery and run install? Not sure since i now have the Overcome v4.0.0 kernel, i can't install any of these roms? i've never used custom roms so no sure what can and cannot be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can install overcome ROM 4.1 (not just the kernel)
If you want, it is rooted, you can follow my signature.
But overcome kernel 4.0 is what gives you cwm recovery. That is the recovery you can use to install cyanogenmod or any custom ROM.
Just read their respective instructions.
Ask again if you are stuck.

hi, from the link you sent, i see a couple of overcome 7 series v4.1 , which one can i use that won't mess up what i currently have? also, are you saying after installing one of these, it'll also root the tab? i'd like to remove some apps like 'Pulse' and the Office software on this device. Thanks again.
I always use the no wipe version.
You can always wipe data manually from cwm if needed.
But always make a habit of wiping cache and dalvik cache when changing ROM/kernel.
Yes, when you install rooted ROM, you have root.
I don't think pulse is built in. You can uninstall from Play market.
But if you can't remove, learn how to use Titanium Backup to uninstall apps.
You don't seem like a person who needs root.....

hi, sorry i'm not an expert on this so i'm bugging you again. So my p1000 tab has firmware 2.3.3 , kernel 2.6.35.7 Overcome-v4.0.0 #40. You mentioned i can install ROM 4.1 . I see in your list Overcome_7_Series_v4.1.0_NoWipe.zip. To update to that, do i just copy it to my internal SD, fire up CWM Recovery and go thru the 'install menu, choose zip from internal sd' , select this zip file and update? Or i can't do it that way?
that is the right way.
