Whats a beter phone sgs3 or htc one x?
How this question is connected with Optimus Black?
the optimus black is the best!
just played with my friends one x and i gotta say its impressive eventho its not rooted yet (pfft) =P
but i think it dosent have an sd slot and s3 does??? i dunno design wise i would def get the one x over the s3...... but i hate sense =P but thats not a biggie hahhahahaha.... but quad core i dunno... are we even gonna really need it say in the next 3-4 years?? dualcore is good enough even for ICS, heck even our OB single core is zippy enough... (look at the awesomeness of zeus/ marvel)
ive always had this minor doubt about battery life on multiple cores also i mean yes eventho the workload on each core is reduced so = less battery drain (theoretically) but youre still ultimately powering up 4 + 1 cores... and thats gotta add up to sth right????
i think when the time comes for a recontract i would still keep my OB cos well its just sexy and the ppl here are nice! =)
you again and your .... questions , you are here to stress the DEV`s and OB users ?

But ONE X has the Beats Audio
but for me ill go for ONE X cuz am an HTC fan (having HTC Sesation XE)

NONE!!!!NONE OF THEM ARE GREAT...take my word on that...the BEST CELL CURRENTLY on the Market are GALAXY S2, XPERIA S AND HTC ONE "S" and maybe the Galaxy Note. BTW, my BESTEST BEST cell is the vintage HTC HD2. therez nothing like it. one of a kind
quad core is a gimmick. NO ONE NEEDS a quadcore (tegra's is "penta core" i beleive??) cells for now.
it is turning out to be like the megapixel gimmick of the digicam market.
most of what 95% users need is a single core 1.3/1.4 Ghz Processor and 512 MB RAM.
u tell me WHY should i get a quad core?? even if i DO get money to buy one, i'll go in for the dual core snapdragons instead of the quadcore tegras or Exynos'.
so, STOP riding the gimmick and if you are DRASTIC in getting a new cell, get the S2 or the One S.
(better get the S2, it's got a HUGE dev pool & is still good enough to keep the user satisfied for the next year and a half )
hope i don't get flamed
sorry if i bother anyone. was just sharing my views

Hello fellow XDA'ers,
I've had my Desire HD for about 10 months & although it's perfectly fine and indeed excellent, apart from the below average battery, I just got bored.
So, a friend of mine has a SGS & I am thinking of swapping with him...
1)Will I notice the RAM difference?
2)Does the pentail screen bother much?
3)How's the sense rom on the SGS?
So what are your thoughts? Did any one convert from a DHD to SGS?
Thank you.
Dont do it! I came from galaxy s to dhd......dhd feels snappier nd much better screen. Plus the sense interface on the dhd is much better than the stupid touchwiz bull**** of the sgs.....wait until u see the browser resolution as well! Horrible....wait.....did i mention samsung's kies software? Well it suckssssss......thats when it really identifies ur phone....although i lost arnd 300$ sellng the sgs nd gettng the dhd.....im not sorry i got rid of that thng
For me SGS is much better than DHD... My gs still perfect even if it is dropped while in mine DHD there are no levers of the volume because were detached.
Perhaps you'll notice that the ram is less but this minority will be satisfied by the fantastic display Super Amoled! The GS also while having 3 megapixel less than camera of dhd take best pictures and video runs much more fluid and detailed ... Just watch it on youtube... Then gs is much more customizable in terms of hacks.
So... Make your choice...
Yeah.
Sgs is a great phone. Borrow your mates for a few days and see.

I think if you want a phone in such a range you can wait a 2-3 months as samsung is going to launch galaxy w on September 1 Berlin event it will have a 1.4 ghz single core processsor and 3.7 inch screen! If u can't wait for it thrnvuo for galaxy s as it is the best in its price range!

Well it depends on the rest of the specs too.
on topic, I love my sgs. The kernels, roms, upgrades, mods, it's a lot of fun to learn about and make as good as possible. I wouldn't trade it for much else. Try out your friends phone and imagine how good it could be.

The DHD is perfect, but I just got bored and want to try something new.

Guess I'll swap, & maybe we'll re-swap in 4 months again
hey there, everyone had seen HTC one X, it got really great UI and design.
Our O2X is not bad at all, but maybe there is someone who can port ONE X desing for LG Optimus 2x. It would be great

I shall +1 to that, sir !

WHY you both are making Off-topic and just don't answer a question?
Maybe it would be possible to make a theme, but I think the design is too much 2.2/2.3 for a 4.0 phone!
OT: I don't like the one x. The support will be bad and the new tegra games don't run fast enough on it. And I read in a few reviews, that the one x is sometimes a bit laggy because of late deactivation of the suspend core...
ONE X is like the O2X, HTC rushed it so that they'll be the first quadcore phone that is why the software is having lots of issues , and sense 4 is slow(reading reports from the one X users at XDA).
One s is the way to go! (':

yes. i think it still uses a 42mn processor, combined with 4 cores. no full day use for most people D:
anyone hear about he Meizu MX? been reading about it, pricing is very attractive, new quad core A9 from samsung, 1.5gig, 1gig of ram. screen is right about the iphone 4s with 291ppi (dont quote my specs as i dont remember them all).
I'm thinking about it as an alternative, with pricing for the 32gig at around 425usd it's alot more attractive than the htc one x (priced above 550usd) and probably the SGS3 (when i comes out) will be priced similiar to HTC one x.
only issue is its only sold in china
Have both phones..
Not everything mentioned here is true..
After todays update, pretty much all lag is gone..
Antutu score above 11000
Camera is fantastic
All in all å good phone.. Just hope they will fix the batt drain.. Moderate use today is about 14-18 hours.. Standby drain is VERY good, but screen kills the batt..
Without using screen.. Only Standby, id bet the phone would manage 3-4 days

Sorry, but how is that so? What is your definition of an OS not being "optimized" for multiple cores? Based on my limited knowledge, kernels take control of the activation and deactivation of the cores, and the apps themself are the ones that are supposed to "take advantage" of the cores.
How is an OS supposed be "optimized" for a quad core CPU?

That is up there with some of the stupidest things iv ever read.
I think the Android ecosystem is so complex that occasional lags are bound to happen even if we reach a point of using 8 cores on a smartphone. (And that, is why iOS is so smooth with slower hardware. It's a simpler OS.)
But the Tegra3 pretty much leaves everyone in the dust when it comes to games.
But when it comes to support... oh noes

The international version of the HTC One X with Tegra 3 has already gotten its full sources released a while ago.
At least it seems Nvidia isn't as unsupportive as we think they are. LG, apparently, is the one that is holding back from releasing sources for us.
Yea, but when Android 5 comes out then I hope that they will release all the necessary stuff. That may make me think better about Nvidia.

now i am goign to enjoy my Quad Core phone again okay?
What is the point of this thread? As for desktop PC's, more cores = better (most of the time). Since dual cores work just fine in both GB and ICS the same goes for quad cores. And NO, quad cores don't mean less battery duration.
Maybe he is just jeaulous but i dont think a phone needs quad core. For web browsing and watching videos (well.. lol tegra 2 ) some gameing. dual core is more than enough. As i mentiond some time ago in other thread this reminds me of megapixel hunt in compact digital cameras market.

I agree with someone said quadcore isn't really important for mobile phone. If only O2x have more than 512 MB RAM I bet it will last for next 2-3 years

It can still last for 2-3 years, you just wont be able to multitask when playing games so much in the future.
quadcores will be **** if they dont have that 5th core for when there isnt much going on or they will chew through battery.
The new huwai something has its own quadcore and it smashes all cuurent quad cores in benchmarks, tegra 3 the exenos ect. But if it doesnt have that 5th core it will probably be bad. Its said to come with a 2300mah battery.

Hi guys
I was planning to buy the Samsung Galaxy S Advance as my second phone, it has an dual core 1 Ghz ST-Ericsson U8500 CPU with a Mali 400 GPU from ARM with 768 MB of RAM. and other similar features like the S plus.
According to the stericsson website the U8500 chip supports 1080p video recording but on the gsmarena specs it shows 720p with 30fps (maybe someday could unlock the full hd feature )
The main reason i posted this thread was to ask about it's GPU performance, as it includes the same GPU from the S2.
Will the performance be the same as the S2 ? or somewhere around that ?
And what about the U8500's performance ?
Another Question
Are Dual cores really fast compared to a single core
I own a S plus which has a Qualcomm msm8255t 1.4 Ghz single core cpu, which i find quite fast, it runs CM9 very smoothly.
I'm also considering this phone, and I hope you don't mind I through in another question: is it true what they say that with this being "an upgrade to the Galaxy S" and only available on limited markets we don't have to expect much development and selection in custom ROMs?
I am considering either this, or a Motorola Atrix 4G and I really don't know what to choose...
I actually like it's design, it's somewhat like a mix between the S2 and Galaxy Nexus, more like a baby Nexus.
anyways this phone has great potential as it beats the galaxy R (see benchmarks at gsmarena)
I don't think that it'll get much attention by devs. It's not that the phone's slow, but there won't be as many users as other Galaxy S phones have. You can see what happened to S Plus: it's faster than the Galaxy S, but not even supported by Cyanogenmod, with a very small community. The simple reason why the Galaxy S has more users now than the advanced one will ever have, is that the S once was the best phone out and many people bought it. The Plus and Advanced aren't. They get 1/2 cores when already 2/4 are standard.
LOL i just bought the device it's real smooth was playing some hd games and the performance is really good, the mali 400mp is doing its job just fine and multitasking is pretty good

I just looked on amazon - for 40€ more you get the S2. IMO it would be the better choice. More RAM, faster, awesome cam. Why didn't you buy it?
I will rather buy S2. I learn my lesson with i9001.
In Croatia "S Advance" is on T-Mobile more than 200£ cheaper SII, therefor I don't see a reason not to buy it, except that it probably will not get much attention from developers.

there's quite a big difference in the price between the advance and the S2, so i chose the Advance over the S2. (and also i liked its nexus like curve, the curved display looks really cool)
Anyways the phone is performing well, for the first time i could play GTA 3 (v1.3) with full graphics without any lags.
and now have started enjoying gaming.
I don't regret buying this phone, maybe when samsung releases ics for the phone it will perform similar to the S2

Nah, if you get past 300€, 40€ aren't a big difference. With the S2, you can replace your cam with the phone, with Advanced you can't take usefull pics. And just look at the awesome dev support. I think Sammy only released the Advanced because of the big critic, that none of the Galaxy S devices gets ICS. Now they can say 'upgrade to advanced' and make money with their bad support. But in the end it's your decision .
I know S2 is a better device but i still liked the look of the Advance, and was quite curious about the new NovaThor chipset
and btw there ain't no news of ICS for the galaxy Advance (I'm starting to worry now )
The phone seems to have some very nice motion controls (like when you double tap on the top of the phone it activates voice search, and the tilt to zoom function)
I'm confused between s advanced and Xperia arc S (both of them at same price ) but i'm scared to get s advance duo to lake of support/deve so what do u think about that nail16??
Xperia Arc S has the same configuration as the galaxy s plus so it's a single core device and has a adreno 205 (the gpu kinda sucks)
I say go for the Advance don't worry about the dev support, it seems to be a powerful phone it will soon be recognized by the devs
Ihope so =D
Theres No XDA support for the phone. So its a big no actually !!
In india also its not that famous :O..!!

new htc desire x got announced. when it comes out. lets port sense 4.1
http://androidheadlines.com/2012/08...-inch-screen-beats-audio-ics-on-a-budget.html
I have been confused by this device. Is it a dual core low end 1ghz snapdragon s4?
And which version of sense? Being dual core have they given it the full sense 4.1 treatment or a new sense 4.1a?
Sent from my Nexus 7
Logic would say full sense.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Tapatalk 2
Why would logic say that? That would be awesome, like the sensation XL was last year
if its full sense 4.1 I will cry from happiness
But, the device is pretty low on ram for today's standards, so that's why I assumed its a sense lite device
Also the processor is a pretty low clock speed compared with full sense devices
Hopefully I'm wrong

Looks like full Sense to me. The zoom animations from Project X aren't actually in the original Sense 4, it's just a sweet change from JellyBean... Also in my music player I don't have the select player function as you see on the Desire X. Also the buttons on the top right of the player show also soundbound and I think cover upload.
EDIT: I went trough another few reviews and I guess 3D Rosie means full Sense
I think the zoom animations are sense 4, they are slightly different to the jb ones, infinity uses the stock animations and there is a difference
So does it have the 3d Rosie?

sense 4.1 is nice! :victory:
Just edited the wrong cmt how dumb was that? Anyway, I just read a review and it's not entirely full Sense. It's sth between full and lite. It doesn't have the Sense recent apps (stock is better anyway) and it doesn't have the homescreen overview. But according to htc it's not the final software build so they may change sth till we get it...

Would this be a good mid ranged smartphone to buy when it comes out price 280 euro i gues.
Or are there way better ones out now with higher, better specs? Cause im gonna buy a new one from now to 2 weeks

My old Gio lowass did its job and im ready to go Mid ranged now and with googling i came across this new phone and it looks nice but maybe people here think different?
Any help would be appreciated :victory:
This phone actually has a pretty crappy SoC. It's the S4, but more specifically it's an S4 Play MSM8225. It has a dual core CortexA5 processor, an Adreno 203 GPU and is manufactured at 45nm unlike the higher end S4's which use a 28nm process. Modern dual core SoC's are of the CortexA9 variety, (although the S4 is "based on" the CortexA15) which is significantly more powerful.
In comparison, our phone has an S2 CortexA8 and an Adreno 205 GPU which just might be better than the dual core A5, due to it's older architecture. I'm not completely sure though.

Haha, yea that post was definitely filled with a bunch of tech jargon. Basically, it's a much crappier version of the Snapdragon S4 inside the Desire X.

I would recommend a different phone if you're looking for mid-range. Check out prices on last year's high-end models, that way you're still getting a good phone and if it's high-end, it'll have good dev support. (For example Samsung Galaxy S2, HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, etc)
Or if you're willing to spend a bit more cash, check out the HTC One S, that's a GREAT mid-range phone.
