O.k. heres the deal.A while ago i wanted to update my 2 sgs and my sgs2 to official xxkg5 when it came out so i thought id start with the sgs.Have flashed heaps so this was nothing at all new.A this moment id like to say that i wasnt aware XDA.Searched the web for the update for the official 2.3.4 for the sgs and found a site which i will not name as to not cause problems.Found it kind of strange that it was only a PDA tar. file so read on and they confirmed that its all good.Downloaded but thought id wait a while to see how it went.Anyway seemed o.k. so i flashed and bricked my phone.Couldnt beleive it.Maybe ill try again.Flashed and bricked the seconded phone.Went searching for the site but the site had takin away the link i had used which was "how to update your galaxy sgs i9000 to official keis XXKG5".Then i joined XDA and you guys dont have kg5 for the sgs only for the sgs2.On this site ive updated my s2 to xxkg6 with villainROM2.4.2 and all went well but in your list of 2.3.4 sgs firmwares its stated as jvq. When i went back to the other site and asked where the link was and why they had taken it of (i had to do so in the s2 xxkg5 update messages forum) all he could say was do the flash again it will turn out fine in the end.I TOLD HIM THEY WERE BRICKED AND GOT THAT AS AN ANSWER!!!!What in need to know really is that after hours of searching and sgs i9000 xxkg5 update links disappearing from the web was it me or is xxkg5 only for S2 and not for sgs as stated here and not like this other clown is STILL trying to tell me!!!!!......an answer will help me out of my misery but wont bring my phones back in know and now im to f'n freaked out to flash my s2 again.

Ya I think xxkg5 I'd fit sgs2 and not for sgs for sgs u have jvr as latest version. You can download official firmware from a reputed site like samfirmware.com
Sent from my sgs
kernel: galaxian
Rom: jetpack
Thanks mate thats what i was thinkin.i had jvr in one of the sgs but that site said that kg5 was the official sgs 2.3.4 and then they took the link away and still tell me to keep tryinin.bunch of clowns.im pretty sure im not the only one too.
I have both the SGS and SGSII as well and unfortunately you did flash the wrong software after some dud advice.
The only thing I will say is have you heard of the recovery jig?? It helps to force the phone into download mode. I havent tried it personally but it has worked for a lot of people.
A quick ebay search gave me these. http://shop.ebay.ie/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=i9000+jig
Hope it helps.
Aewsome mate.looks like a good thing to try.might just be the solution. The thing is that it doesnt show the classic symbols of a bricked phone but worth a try.
Hello, I'ts my first thread but I have read the forum for several months.
I'm having this weird problem, the thing is that I can actually hear the other people talking but they can't hear me. This problem doesn't happen when I go back to stock Eclair (with odin one-click), there I can normally make calls and talk, but when I flash any custom ROM (I've tried Serendipity, MIUI and Darky's) this issue appears again and people just doesn't hear me :S
Please help me I'm really starting to lose my head
PD: Sorry for my English

with any of those roms you need an i9000 modem. there is a sticky in the dev section specifically for modems.
I actually flashed I9000UGJL2 (CWM3) modem with Serendipity VII and didn't worked .....I'm very confused since all those ROMs worked fine with my last Captivate :S
Also, they even can't hear me when I'm using a BT headset.
Just to be sure, this can't be a hardware issue right?
Well a similar thing happened to me in the beginning when i had bought my phone,i flashed fasty and the problem disappeared !
Well i dont think its a hardware issue !
Try flashing fasty 2.5 !Hope it solves your problem

Did you have the same issue with other ROMs?
I solved the problem flashing a KH3 ROM, since those ROMs have I897 modems now the calls work fine.
Although I don't know why mi 2 last Captivates worked fine with I9000 based ROMs.....can anyone explain why?
Hi Guys
I am hoping that someone might be able to help me.
I have a Galaxy S+ that just randomly reboots. It is running 2.3.3 i believe (Friend is using the phone atm)
I got the phone on contract and actually went through 5 phones (and entire stores stock) only to find that all of them have this issue.
No i believe that its a software problem and not hardware as Samsung themselves have said nothing about it and the Samsung Specialist @ Vodacom (my cellular provide) has said that there isn't anything that they have heard or that they know of.
I have already rooted the phone, obviously the problem was happening before the rooting of it.
So my question is that does anyone think if i updated the rom to 2.3.6 or whatever else is available it might fix the problem?
I would prefer to keep the rom stock but will go with idea's that anyone would have.
Secondly where would i be able to get updated stock Samsung i9001 roms?
O really wanna give me gf this phone at the end of the month so please if someone could help me i would appreciate it!
Many thanks in advance

i'm not sure about the rebooting problem, but 2.3.3 had other problems in my country, u couldn't send an sms if u had 3G ON , so t-mobile updated all the devices to 2.3.5 , it might be a sign that 2.3.3 has some bugs. my opinion would be to flash one of the stock roms out there , or check if u have an update through kies (although i don't recommend updating with kies as there's a big chance it will freeze during instalation - ya , another crappy samsung software).
Thanks mate i think i will def but i am looking for a uk stock rom?
All i can find is german and polish and balkin.

it depends on what u're looking for, i personally prefer stock with a few tweaks here and there. u can check the custom roms available in our dev section, it's not a big choice ,but u can see if any of them suit ur needs.
sudden restart
i am new around here,i got a i9001 and it sudden restarts on every rom i installed, costom or stock. first i taught that it restarts because of its ram, like the memory dump on pc, but then i saw, that i rebooted it and after 10-15 min it sudden restarted. i've been to my carrier for warranty, and what they did it was only a flash of rom version 2.3.6 and they gave it back to me. after about 2 hours since i got it back, it did the sudden restart again. srry for my english.

i have tryed all the brood roms, non oc version. at warranty they told me they know that i9001 has problems, but not the one described by me. which rom resolved your problem? now i got the kq1
I tried xxkpu and xxkq1, no problem so far.
If your phone is under warranty, ask for replacing new one.

they said when the phone came back "the phone did not present the problem sent for" on the warranty paper. They know about this problem, but they dont wanna lose money with extra costs for i9001 owners, it was a mistake made by samsung on this model and they dont want to assume it. I read more about this snapdragon oc processor used on i9001 (1.4 Ghz) and it says that it overheats sometimes rarely in first months, but after some heavily daily use it enters a restart loop ( probably after your warranty expires) and the phone becomes useless. sorry to say that for i9001 owners.
"Recently, a growing number of smartphone users experience temperature-related CPU failures that seem to be inherent in Snapdragon-powered devices, and typically manifest only after several months of smartphone use. Symptoms of this hardware failure are unexpected reboots of the phone, especially in higher ambient temperatures and under high CPU load and/or Wifi use. The phone may then enter a "reboot-cycle", which can only be stopped by removing the battery and cooling the phone. Over the period of several weeks or months, this behavior becomes increasingly frequent and occurs at progressively lower ambient temperatures and CPU loads, until it reaches a point where the phone can only be used in refrigerated and/or air-conditioned environments. It is speculated that deteriorating solder bonds of the BGA matrix (i.e., a lost connection between the Snapdragon-CPU and its motherboard) due to thermal stresses occurring in normal operation is the underlying problem for these failures, and CPU re-heating procedures have been proposed to remedy this problem, but so far with mixed results.[23] These hardware issues have not yet been officially acknowledged by companies that use the Snapdragon processor in their smartphones, even though a very large number of devices (HD2, Desire, Evo, Droid Incredible, Xperia, Galaxy S, etc.) seem to be affected. "
this thing is copied from a romanian site, which was meant to be a review for the snapdragon processors.
Sorry for beeing that silly, but did you resetted your phone?
sure I did, like i said, i tryed everything possible, formattin' partions, hard reset, wipe dalvik cache..

Hi folks,
Im a sgs2 user but I have my old I9000 international, that I wish to send away to a friend in need. Im sure this question has been asked a few times but specific to this circumstance, I would like suggestions for a rock stable ICS ROM. I have jelly bean on there now and it seems to be running ok, but if something goes awry, im not around to flash a new ROM for this person and they know nothing about rooting. JB is also not mature enough to send away to someone.
Been away from this forum for awhile since sgs2 but it appears ICS333 is decent?
Also if someone could tell me the best radio for Tmobile. I have no way to test it with a tmobile sim card since im on a canadian provider.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I have tried many jelly bean roms but those are not stable enough that I go back to ICS333 because it is the most stable. First install value pack 2.3.x like xxjvu or xxjvs via Odin then root ur phone and finally install ics333. That works best for me.

Hello all,
My mother's phone is galaxy s1.
At first the device was ****ed up so I've installed
this rom for her:
[NIGHTLY][ROM][4.1.2] CyanogenMod 10 for Samsung Galaxy S
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778526
At first I've installed GB 2.3.6 stock rom,
rooted the device and only then installed the nightly rom.
Everything was ok until I installed the gapps
After consulting with the forum and making sure the gapps version was the correct one.
Then,
The device ****ed up again,
many error messages and nothing works.
As I said,
This device is for my mother,
she doesn't need much.
Good stable device where she can
define her google account for contacts, phone numbers etc.
I don't have much time to handle it because I'm really busy lately
and I will have only about two hours this evening to handle her device.
It's needs to be fixed today.
I thought already to just put stock rom 2.3.6 and that's it.
but If you guys suggest maybe installing some other rom
which for sure is stable and I won't have any issues
with the gapps please advise.
Also,
I want her to have complete Hebrew on the device.
Any help will be welcomed here since I need to fix her device in one hour or so ...
Thanks guys.
