ICS or GB - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can somebody tell what is the difference between ICS and GB.
Secondly how can one install ICS if he is on GB.
Thirdly games such as modern combat, NFS HP, etc HD games and other GB Apps will work fine on ICS.
Lastly benefits of updating to ICS or disadvantages of Updating to ICS.

upgrading depends on what rom you want to use and if you are rooted or not?
your third part is not really a question by I guess you mean does it work? and the answer is yes they should work fine.
Benefits well you get all the new changes, downside is as there is no offical release most of the roms are still buggy

Thanxxx man but i know i posted earlier ques in wrong section but its not so serious matter how people r reacting they can simply tell to post ques in other section.

people get like that because it happens far to often its not a attack at you or anything just at people not reading the rules and posting in the right place

Biggest differences are under the hood. ICS uses GPU UI rendering where gingerbread is still using cpu. Other than that the theme as changed. Better stock launcher and more unified look.
Read this for a pretty detailed discussion of ICS (its a review of the nexus in addition to ICS, but gets into details about ICS and what's different)

You are using p1010 and what i know there is no gb for it
So dont do something silly amd flash ur tab by something will get you sorry for.
Referring to the diff
Gb is more fast that is all

Agree with k0sh. Gb has some things that allow a bit more flexibility, but you will need to be rooted. it is a bit quicker, but thats about it.

Stay away from ICS as there are no stable versions available at the moment.
Depends on what you mean by stable.
It is pretty stable now, but not full featured yet.
i need help
i want to install ICS on My P1000
it is having original 2.2 Froyo
please help me
this is the first time i m doing it and i have got my tab only 4 days ago

Last night I installed a CM9 ICS BUILD from a humberos kernel site using it now everything works except camera but the from has a screenshot function so what I do is open the camera app and other take the screenshot and just crop it and booom I'm happy
Camera is fixed. If you don't know how to push changes, you should wait for a few more days to get new build that has fixes.

Miui 4 ICS for galaxy tab looks HOTTTT, and however I can't get nether my sim card to work nor wifi. Can anyone be a Saint and guide this newbie on the right path..???
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda premium
which MIUI?
[ROM][GSM][ALPHA]MIUI ICS 2.1.6 Based on CM9 ??
If this is the one, well, it is an alpha ROM. So don't expect too much.
And hasn't been updated since Jan 2012.
The dev said don't use it as a daily rom.
That truly burst my bubble, cause once I downloaded it I feel in love with the way the entire interface looked and felt. All I can say is the development had something cooking there, I wish he would have maxed it out. It could have been really one of the best kernels out.. Just my option. Thanks for the feedback, I truly appreciate all of you that help us non knowing newbies out.. And I say that from the heart. Is there anything that comes close to it out..?? I'm using CM9'S build #31, it's good but the fonts are small and I miss the notification page that sides down. Can you please be kind enuff (not saying you haven't thus far) to put me one to the HOTTEST build out, we'll which ever you think is the best out for daily use for my GT-P1000. Thanks again, and muck blessings to you and yours.

This is the best ICS ROM for this device as fas as I'm concerned. Works really well. A couple of minor bugs but overall it flies.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523174
I searched the link you suggested, however I didn't see my device listed (GT - P1000). Is there a direct link you can send me to it'll be greatly appreciated. And what is ice Aokp..??
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda premium
I'm really not sure what you mean. The link I posted takes you the ICS ROM for P1000 device.
May be I'm misunderstanding your question.
Hi luchiano,
If you are on cm9, there isn't a build 31.
That is ICS AOKP that has that build number.
You won't have slides down transparent notification like in gingerbread, sorry can't help there.
But font size can be increased easily in settings- display-font size.

Cool, will I would like to start off by thanking you both Priyana and ipit, known to get a little clear I'm going to put up the spec that shows up on my about tablet section "kernel version -2. 6.35.7 sgt7-ics-TE4M #20120410 CAYANOGENMOD VERSION BUILD # CM9-SGT7 TE4M_20120410. @ Priyana, I was almost sure when I downloaded the version I seen build #31, however I could be wrong. Can you please do me the favor and send me a link to what ever version your on..?? It would be highly appreciated. Thanks again to you both.

Difference Between Custom Rom And Stock

Hey Guys
So Listen I Have The CM9 Paranoidandroid V0.4 And I Started Hearing About The Official ICS Coming From Samsung The Official So What Do You Think Should I Switch To The Stock And Try The Samsung Firmware Or Should I Stay On Paranoidandroid Which Is Better I Cant Say Please Help Me
Cm9 is ics more like intended, paranoid is same with tweaksettings ability.
Stock is how Samsung intended it. Which means looks practically as previous version roms lol

Its basically of your choice many peoples love touhwiz and more hate it but stock roms are very stable than any other rom
Well in touchwiz you can use:
1.full spen functionality
2.wifi direct
3.and some minor things

Just get urself outta this cm9ahit buddy..dunno y people go for it...it's too risky ****...and when u have really nice stock based roms like crash ics and chekrom gb why go for cm9??bwsides cm9 has microphone bug and paranoid is notorious for nonfunctionality of s pen..
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
I know of the problems and i know the risks but since the official ics is released for GNOTE i thought which is better my friend said that paranoid is faster , im aware off the mic and s pen problem but thanks anyway

If you like touchwizz, then go for stock, that's the only real benefit. There are a lot of problems with stock ics, superbrick bug that could damage your device, wifi problems, general degradation over time.
CM roms including paranoid are as ics was meant to be and very stable. I have no idea what the guy above means by risks? There aren't any, it's safer than stock.
Like I say it comes down to touchwizz vs stock whichever you prefer.

Os upgrading

The recent update, v20s, showed that LG did not abandon us. So if GB is still unstable, could they be concentrating on clearing bugs in GB before ICS?? I know there is an ICS thread. But this is also related to Questioning.

CM10 (JB) for LG Optimus Black

http://www.xda-developers.com/android/install-cm10-with-google-apps-on-samsung-galaxy-mini/
The above link states that Samsung Mini is running JB nicely, but a little problem of lack of internal memory.
So, it means we can also use CM10 (JB) on our OB devices ?
Developers plz have a look at this, maybe it will become easy instead we are struggling with Icecream Sandwich.
Yes our device can run nicely JB , just take a look at the p500 forum ,they already have JB.
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
I'm running jb on my old lg gt540 and it is smooth
yes..our phone's performance allows jb to run on it.
however, it is easier for dev to port the jb with a stable ics.
that's why most of the dev are focusing on the ics now.
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk 2
great...
any known bugs ?
I mean camera, sound, wifi, etc ?
Why don't you just read before starting two unnecessary threads? Everything is in the existing ICS threads.
you don't know the matter to which my question is related to ......my question is related to (I'm running jb on my old lg gt540 and it is smooth) on above post..
