Rwview of ►Simplistic Plus◄ 2.0 rom
Hi everyone this is my PERSONAL review of the ►Simplistic Plus◄ 2.0 rom
I've to start with this ROM becose for me i's the best, the smoothest and with less lag than ever.
GOOD;
The strength of the rom is the BATTERY LIFE...i can stay 3 day (with no so much intensive useand juice defender) without recharge it..IMPRESSIVE
-In the daily usage i've detected only few lag when you unlock (premise i like to use Go Launcher ex,with other launcher the lag is minor like 360 launcher,LauncherPro and the TwLauncher).
-I'm realy impressive of the wifi usage,i had really big problem with others Roms but in this is very stable and does not conflict with juice defender
-The Ram Management is perfect for me,about 90\70 mb free. With Go Taskmanager you can free the ram to 160\140 mb
-No problem with incoming call, sms, gps or the camera
To IMPROVE;
-I realy like the Gingerbread style but i think the Ics style should be implemented to ensure that the rom is in step with the times
-In some rom i've found the possibilty to change the loocksreen theme without use lockerapp like Golocker or MiLocker, would be nice
BAD;NOTHING FOR MY USE,some lugs but just few istant and no force closed

Review of - broodROM RC5 -
Hi there,me again this time the review is on The broodROM RC5.
I flash the rom using the CWM Recovery file found in the page of the [ROM][KQB][ODIN] - broodROM RC5 -
Here the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396837
I've to said that this ROM is realy smooth and stable.I've tried the Rc4 but i don't like it but this new version is a AWESOME.
GOOD:
-Very beautiful ICS style theme.setting menu similar to 4.0 really.
Battery, phone singnal and wifi icons are turned in a light blue very cool.
ICS Call keyboard, add in the call log on the right of the contact a shortcut phone icon for a fast call but still there the slide to call or sms.Good idea
-Fast and clean usage.Skyhigh Kernel is alwasy good
-Ram usage perfect,80mb free-145 mb when freed
-- Extended Status Bar 13 Buttons
BAD:
Not so much things to say.
-Few Wifi lost signal
-Few lag on the screen unlock
-with Antutu benchmark the score is under 4000.I know it don't mean nothing int he usage of the rom but I like the high Scores ù
-NEWS: After instal the rom the usb wire,my computer don't open the phone like removable device and don't syncr with kies...this is soo bad
hi guys i've used nitrox 3.0 and cranium 7 & 8 but the best than i ever used is moonrom...no lag, no random reboot excellent battery life with OC/UV ... and i'll change it only when CM9 it's full working..
p.s. sorry for my orrible english (Davide - admin samsung galaxy s plus italia)

Review of Nitro Galaxy 5.0 Andromeda
Hi again this time i review the Italian ROM
The Rom is quite good, ics style and updated very frequently (it pass from 3.0 to 5.0 in 1 month, synonymous of a frequent developed and hard work)
in the rom it's installed android assistant (that i don't like) and have no archive only use ES GESTORE pre-installed.Also installed Equlizer and a real good music player.
Different battery icon so cool but no so much readable
I'd like to have the possibility to choose the locksreen style like pendolum rom
here the link of the rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641450
4208 antutu 1804 clocked
Quiet good rom for the daily usage and i think it will be improved again soon,so keep work guys _--_HIGHLY RACOMENDED-__-
Remember to review, leave comment, say thanks to the developers and if like my reviews push thanks
Android forever
Well it's depend. If you need good batery management i can say that Gigabred+ is the best- about 2-3 days without any problem About permormance - I used Moonrom, and i can say, it's veeeery good
about ICS, i think AOKP Kang
Review of Nitro Galaxy 6.0 Andromeda
The new rom is very similar to the 5.0
Some changes but the team made a good job, improved the smoothes of the rom very fast and stable...Very very good
I don't like the gb telephone keyboard,i prefer the ics style
Also improved the battery drain
MIUI
I like MIUI very much because of its incredible design.
Battery life is ok and performance good too.

SO WRITE YOUR OPINION
Broodrom rc5! Splendid ics theme with high benchmark and he's still improving for the business version(still in beta). CM9 would also be good(alpha) but it still has some bugs so I would recommend Broodrom rc5.

Are you referring to broodrom rc5?
Advantages: high benchmark, zero lag on my phone, 13 status bar icons with ics theme, ics boot animation, 99% bug-less
Disadvantages: based on gingerbread(i prefer ics), screen on takes around 2 or 3 seconds(will be fixed on revision 2)
CM9
Advantages: ics rom, best rom overall(not for now), love the lockscreen compared to broodrom
Disadvantages: Camera still not working properly, FM radio can't work(doesn't matter at all for me) USB tethering can't work(main reason why I flash back to broodrom), a few bugs.

3500mAh Battery review
I bought a new Battery found on ebay .
3500mAh is twice the stock ampere battery.
First 2-3 full charge it have 2 days life, after it can stay 3 days with juice defender properly optimized.
Realy fantastic for my usage and i've pay only EUR 15,99 with a new satinated black cover
Here some photo of the battery drain....from the 20% i've dowloaded the game six gun and play for 10 minutes, otherways it can last more
if you want try it go on ebay and write : Samsung galaxy i9000 3500mha
I've the 9001 but the battery of course is the same
For me the best ROM is MIUI v.4 RC3 from Alex93917 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729578)
Best battery life, graphics and performance.
If you would like more power, yoiu can also use Castagnat kernl 6.6... great!
Cheers:good:
Try biohazard v5...
Smooth, with AROMA...
Good battery life too...

I have used CM9 by invedor RC3 and that's really stable ROM, now I am using Ultragen3.1. This is based on CM9 by invedor and this one is also very stable, smooth and battery friendly. Additionally it has JB notification tray and SGS3 like UI.
best rom is cm9 yhat created with hands of ivendor
Hi guys,i've a question for all of you
After flash lots rom i see that after 7-8 days the terminal become very slow,i've try MIUI,Biohazard,CM9 and both the AOKP rom's but everytime the same problem
Have this problem too???

According to the question I ask, I think I would like to standardize the "marking scheme"
1. Overall Performance
2. Boot up time
3. Battery Performance
4. Buggy?
5. Compatibility?
6. Internal memory after initial setup?
Thanks everybody! Just doing the research which one is the best.
I have used MIUI, CTM, etc... Want to get more information before I changed to another ROM.
I've only used Miui as I've never had any reason to change.
Overall Performance:
Seeing as it's BETA software, the performance all round is much, much better then stock.
Boot up time:
This isn't really an issue as I never turn my phone off. Unlikely computers phones are meant to be on 24/7 so boot time is moot in my eyes.
Battery Performance:
With every new kernel and update, I find my battery lasting that little bit longer. I can get around 1.5-2 days out of mine (as Miui has the option to turn off things / underclock).
Buggy:
For BETA software things break from time to time, although the things that do break aren't that important (Tether and the Theme Downloader mainly).
Compatibility:
What do you mean?
Internal memory after initial setup?
With a fair few apps I have ~30MB left.
cronos or iceandfire are the two best roms hands down...
Stock 2.2 is the best now imho
froyomod 2.4
I am using APAC (asia-pacific leak) since Friday, and it is absolutely brilliant - near perfect, I´d say.
By now you can also apply some themes, and the battery life is great!
The only problem I am personally having is that the app "LEDs Hack" doesn´t seem to be working at all anymore and I haven´t found anything else to turn of the Softkey-Backlights while in Dock Mode... once that is solved, I´d have the perfect ROM
Project elite
Used cyanogen for about 6 mo but alot of fc.went to sorcery for about a month, it looked great and performance was good but my cell reception was in the toilet. Now project elite since christmas and I have fallen in love with my droid again.they have the kernall clocked at 1100 ewhich will run warm after 1/2 hour so i clock to 900.status cool and stable plus you can eryn your browser as an iphone (which comes in handy for netflix)..keep that droid around it still keeps up or beats your friends phone....ps screw motorola for wanting to lock their bootloader.

It also works for me. I installed this "app2ext" and worked amazing. 6 HD games, 5 Normal Games, 30 Apps+ And i still have 80mb free !
The only thing i don't like is the fact that MIUI launcher doesn't have scrollable widgets compatibility .

+ 1 for CM6...plus kabaldan has done so much for us milestone users and he still helps out.

CyanogenMod 6.1.2 is my choice, fast fixes for bugs and like MIUI, after installing a ton of apps (over 30 as well) I stil have over 80mb free.
I've been on stock Eclair most of the time and it of course bugged me a lot. Tried Froyomod 2.2 and had the fast battery drain issue, now I'm using FroyoMod 2.4 and seems to be *much* better now.
I'd like to see the stock 2.2, but...
The bset ROM I've yet tried has to be the APAC leak, the latest nandroid. Its incredible. Kicks Nexus ass, bigtyme !
1. Overall Performance : Incredible. There is no other way to explain this.
2. Boot up time : NOt much of an issue, but if ur still interested, its almost equivalent to other roms available.
3. Battery Performance : The best Ive yet seen after trying every mod available, excet shadowmod. It gives me 2.5 days till discharge. For the milestone, thats a colossal feat.
4. Buggy : Not at all. No bugs found yet. Been 2 weeks.
5. Compatibility : Everything runs. Without applying external updates, or software hacks.
6. Internal memory after initial setup : 158MB. But most of my apps are on SD, So i Still get about 102 MB free on my phone.
FroyoMod 2.4c & G.O.T 2.2.1
_ MIUI is good for me now!
Now i'm using Froyomod 2.4, but a brazilian guy Edgar Castro launched new shadowmod version based on gingerbread.
I will install today.
I would also say CM6 is the best in terms of performance. Just to add on (NOT MEANING TO TAKE OVER THIS THREAD, just a suggestion), could we add how much mb of ram is available after boot? (E.g you could use advanced task killer, or memory booster just to see how much is available (BEFORE KILLING APPS) )
Hmph. I guess I'll have to do a major cleanup
38MB after boot.

It's definitely better then CM7, and probably better then many other roms out there. At least try it out.

Try tOnecosmic's ICS Port!!!
It is amazing, good battery life, very smooth, works great as my daily Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398223
I DON'T recommend going to ICS just yet (unless you want to beta test), builds are still too early, they are unreliable for everyday use and it'll be a while until we get a stable and good performing rom, CM7 is much better right now, but it may change in the future though.
ICS launcher FC a lot, gallery app and browser are laggy, and if you use live wallpapers everything slows down a lot, also there are many app incompatibilities now. I tried to like ICS but it's still in alpha stages (don't believe all those RC1 or beta labels, it's really not ready)
CM7 is great but yes, it's a battery hog. You could use a samsung rom (a custom ODEXED rom or stock are fine) and a custom kernel, I use semaphore with thunderbolt and it's very good performing, it can't touch CM7 in RAM management (isn't as good in multitasking), but videos, games play nice and samsung has a few good apps (it's dialer has smart dialing and its a looker, it can play almost all videos even h264 720p 60fps, music app uses very little battery since it's HW accelerated and its browser is as smooth as the iphone's, it can't be touched by CM7's), and you can delete all other samsung bloatware.

Thanks for your reply !! , i used to be on almost every new ROM lately but i couldn't handle the Lag even with using Thunderbolt and stuff , it was veryyy laggy and not responsive , iam now on CM7.1 and i have to say it is waaaaaay faster than the sammy build roms , too bad i get some force closes often and i HATE how low the music is , the music player sucks alot of battery though
my best Samsung experience was on Hybrid roms , stable , fast.
btw not all CM9 builds are bad ! you can try search for the AndroidSoul's review of cm9 , it looks veryyyyy smooth !
any recommendations for now ?

Thanks so much man ! i have seen some videos for the onecosmic's port and it is veryy fast indeed !!!!
i wonder how long do you last with heavy usage / medium usage ?
what about standby ?? , iam so going to try this soon !
With heavy usage I can use my Phone one day, but this was the same with Gingerbread.
When I only have low or medium usage, the battery lasts 1 1/2 - 2 Days, very good for a non final release. But most i charge my phone every night.

I didn't watch any videos, I flashed both versions myself and ICS isn't ready yet, got too many FC, lags heavily on some occasions and isn't as fast as CM7 (we're talking about the version for the i9000 right? )
It'll reach great performance levels in the future I'm sure, but saying that it's perfect for daily use or better than CM7 is just going a little too far.
And have you tried a high LMK for sammy roms? Like 80MB or higher, you won't be able to multitask much, but performance will be very good for games or heavy apps

I guess iam going to skip flashing CM9 then ! , iam an average-heavy user
- well , i have never tried messing up with memory but i assure you i have had troubles multitasking , and very very very bad response time on almost any sammy rom , even with overclocking i don't really feel any difference
all what i used to flash on sammy roms was base rom + custom rom on top of it + some tweaks like thunderbolt script , overclocking wasn't even noticed
i also used to tweak the colors
I am using Samsung Galaxy S i9000. I am planning to change my stock ROM[GB 2.3.3] to either CyanogenMod 7 or SURFACE v8.01..??
Which one should I switch to..?? I need better battery life and performance than the stock ROM.
have you tried SAUROM
Hi
Since 2 yrs i am using different roms on my I9000 now I am using SAUROM rom i saw it's one best rom currently no fc's with many options you can try if you can link...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1388342
Hi,
I got my Galaxy S since one year now, and after the first month, I discovered the joy of installing roms ;-)
I tried many many roms (probably 80% of the roms here) and my impressions were :
I was very impressed by Surface (stability, battery, smoothness)
but it has been beaten by Cyanogen 7 because of many features brought by CM and making the rom very comfortable to use.
I stayed quite a long time with CM, then I restart trying mods (because I wanted to have a full GSII look, but no GSII looking roms was stable and smooth)
So before coming back to CM7, I decided to try MIUI as it seemed to be as popular as CM7, and I falled in love with MintBerry 5see thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350763)
I am completely stuck with it, and does not even want to try ICS roms because I am VERY happy with it for MANY reasons : stability, speed, tons of features, incredible dozen of wonderful themes, and best of all, all updates of the rom/themes/kernels/... are managed with a tool included, so you will not need anymore to play with odin and flash yourself.
Don't rely on the screenshots of the thread, because they don't show the magnificent themes (wood, metal, neon, dark, paper, pencil drawing, ...)
Have fun with the roms anyway, because it is great
And to avoid to loose your apps and have to re-install all of them, I would warmly recommend you to invest in titanium backup pro, because with it, you can backup your data AND the app included, so as soon as you flashed your phone, just "restore all", and after 10 minutes, all your apps are back with all their data and nothing else to re-install ! A pleasure !

Try them both and take your pick. For CM7 I can highly recommend Insanity CM 057 from nitr8 (very light and fast). There is also (CM9) ICS S.U.R.F.A.C.E. v1.1 just released (based on Theamhacksungs Build 11 from Pawitp)
For the better battery life of the two, go with Samsung ROM's like the suggested S.U.R.F.A.C.E. v8.01 (based on Samsung's very latest XXJW1).
happy flashing!

CYANOGENMOD 7 works just fine
---------- Post added at 10:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:16 PM ----------
it is you decision both are working realy good
Well to decide its better if u try both i tried cm7 once it great and very fast and now I'm testing surface which is also great and until now it has a very good battery life you can check my video on surface
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmB6L1B3Blk (a like would be appreciated)
For better battery life, dont touch anything related to CM.I think this whole CM thing is hugely overrated. My experience of the CM roms are disappointing to say the least.
I tested so many roms, every time the stock rom with Galaxian kernel beats the custom eye candys.Either way the battery life on SGS is a joke.no matter what rom you are in.I always wondered why people testing the new phones phonedog etc.
are happy if the battery lasts a work day.Thats horrible.Maybe im just used to my 6 year old nokia with original battery can handle a week. With extensive call usage.

This is a question of choice, you cannot compare
If you prefer autonomy, go on with a normal phone, if you prefer features and apps, go on with the smartphones.
Tell to a 4x4 Mercedes user that you prefer your moped for the fuel consumption, same thing, this is not a correct comparison ;-)
Anyway, with normal phone usage, galaxian kernel and surface rom, my battery lasts 3 or 4 days, which I cannot do with stock rom.
only tried cm7 and miui, and i get about 20 hours batt life.
i remember using darky's (10.1 i think) which lasts about 3 days, couldn't say if i used my phone that much back then
Why don't you just flash them and make your own mind up?
I used darky 10.1 for ages and could get most of the week out of it with wifi on with the galaxy live wallpaper. I'm using Surface 1.1se at the moment. I tried Surface 1.2 - the base worked fine but the essentials pack broke my home button and lock screen.
For better battery life, go with Surface v8.03.
darky 10.2 re very good and jetpack v8.2 really good
Hi everyone. I am trying to choose one of the new roms based on oficial xxlsz rom.
But for someone that just did it, the battery perfomance is better than in xxlsc? (i have this
right now) and i think that is the most important thing to do with JB in note.
Thanks in advance
in my opinion, lsc drain more battery power than lsz. i noticed after i change my rom from ultimate n7000 lsc into newest ultimate n7000 lsz.
i'm using my note from morning around 6am (100%) and when i had my lunch at 12pm, it still have 66% - 70% which more better than lsc, it will drop until 55%.
but it just my opinion.
The ROM I use is really good in all terms, For instance the battery drain is ~1% / H in idle state ( and comparatively much lesser with heavy use as well though it depends on individual's definition of "heavy use " . I suggest to wait 2-3 days with 2 manual full reboobs/day before doing an assessment.(Like note does wants to protect it's draining habit, but gives up finally to The SUper ROM)
I had Ultimate > Stock > Slim versions before this one , and this is going to stay I guess....(check my note signature for links).
My battery is over 6 months old and really does need replacing, as its life has really deteriorated since new, However after using Ultimate LSZ for about 2 days now, Im getting about 18-20hrs from my battery (with high usage)
ive used Ultimate ROMs for quite some time now, the last was LSC which I was on for several weeks and I did not manage to get close to 18hrs usage, So LSZ is definitely a big improvement.
Thanks for te replay
Ok, then i will try the new xxlsz. You mention Ultimate rom serveral times, is the rom for joosh3?
It´s maybe one of the best roms? what you recommend. I really searching a perfomance rom, not one so much pretty but fast
and battery friendly..
Thanks again!!
Try Sweet Rom !! Trust me ... You won't regret it

When I tried CM 10.0 & 10.1 (stables) the roms functioned oké, but terrible battery life with their own CM-kernel. That was fixed with both roms after changing the kernel to Semaphore which gave much more batterylife. (I never use FM, but with Semaphore manager among others FM can be switched on and radio worked on my SGS1 tested with Spirit FM).
However each time after trying new CM I tried latest stable Slim Bean (which has Semaphore-kernel included) and never looked back. For me Slim Bean blew CM totally out of the water concerning performance and batterylife. (Stability both good by the way). And very nice options in rom such as Real Dark Slim.
Now I am strongly concidering trying Mackay 4.4 (instead of SlimKat bèta). Not only because I want KitKat on my i9000. As it appears to function better with our low RAM. Especially the very alive community around it tickles my curiousity.
Anyone has experience with both Slim and Mackey? How does performance, stability and batterylife differ between them? And which of Mackey's function better? Omni- or CM-based?

i am using the nightly cyanogen mod 11 and it is stable and i haven't noticed any bugs or problems during the 2 days i have been testing it, except the fm radio which does not work on all unofficial roms Spirit FM seems to have problems any better rom or solution to the fm radio would be appreciated.
and is Mackay 4.4 better than cm 11. should i try it ?
im using c-rom with cma kernel so far so good

I don't know with KK (yet) if also working, but CM-JB with Semaphore kernel instead of CM-kernel and Semaphore Manager one can switch on FM Radio and use Spirit FM. Most likely there is a thread for KK.

Even though best rom threads arent allowed on xda, ill post my reply: cm10.2.0- superfast, only slight lags while gaming, good battery life, no bugs that i can see.
just moved from cm11 with semaphore to cm11&mackay kernel. best descision ever. great battery live (8h of no big use/79% battery left) and pretty fast too - depends on mackay settings. :victory:
i am useing mackay rom 4.1.8 (from 04.01.14) and the phone is amazing, it was never as fast and good as now (android 4.2 and 4.3 were complet garbage for the sgs)
even though i will buy the xperia Z1 compact in a few weeks, i will keep the sgs for my workouts in the gym
i'm using Mackay CM9 and is working very good
My SGS has had almost all possible roms. After 3 years of changing roms. I've go back to almost Stock version of 2.3.6 XWJW8 with semaphore kernel 2.7.4. with smart launcher 2. It is fast enought.
And what is most important it works more than few days without update.
So i if you need stable phone I suggest to check this setup
You can't just say what's the best rom because every rom it's different just like the users and how they use their phone. But if you wanna know some quick facts here we go:
Stock GB has the best battery because it lacks feature and with a good kernel it can be pretty fast.
Now talking about custom roms :
ICS, in my opinion has better battery than JB or KK. Free ram is pretty high, second place, first is KK.More features than GB not so many as JB or KK
JellyBean : not much of a big fan but i can say that 4.1.2 was by far the best from all the versions. The battery and resources consumption was fair and has more features than the precedents.
KitKat is my favourite. The battery consumption it's ok and it has more free ram than any other android versions and the features are just great.
As for kernel i'm a big fan of Stratosk's Semaphore kernel. No matter what rom i use the kernel is the same.
If you wanna try custom KitKat rom you can try these ones(these are the only ones that i have tested like 2 to 4 weaks each)
SlimKat - Very very smooth just like all their custom roms.Nice features like TRDS, SlimPie and others. Ram usage is good but the battery is draining a little fast for me but this is just my case and maybe others have different experience.
Mackay's Kitkat - This is also a very nice kitkat rom.it's smooth it has good features but just like the one above, i don't like the battery and after some time it became a little laggy.
C-Rom - This is the last one which i'm using right now.I love this one.Ram usage is good , i like the battery( i can get over 19 hours) ,it has great features.Never felt my i9000 so smooth.
My test where done with 3g/wifi on all the time, more than 3 hours screen time, music for 2-3 hours, facebook, whatsapp and others(daily). Some of the apps are greenified and some frozen.
Hope this helps you !

I too like xwjwb + semaphore 2.7.4, after trying many kitkat, this and that.........one more saurom v2 + ICS theme + transperent menu+ additional settings works best, fast smooth reliable with much more time on battery.(I try 2/3 roms on daily basis)

Sounds interesting to try C-Rom then. SlimKat 3.0 Official runs good and smooth here, but indeed battery life (not idle/sleep, but) when using is wildly guessing at least about 33 percent less than my favorite JB before Slim Bean 4.3.1 last stable/official. Music/podcasts for instance at least two hours less battery time. And in every KK thread you read about bad battery life.
On a site note. My 'modern' Nexus 7 2013 with stock Android also performed better on JB than KK. A clean flash of factory rom and factory reset didn't help. For example battery life (active with screen on time and/or playing music/podcast) JB 4.3.1 was 12-13 hours. KK 4.4 had 8-9 and now KK 4.4.2 does 10-11 hours. The contrary of media srories about KK being better optimized and lower on resources and Ram. And I read a lot simular experiences around the net.
So I was considering on SGS1 going back to JB, but first try Mackay's ICS 2014. Perhaps I'll give C-rom first a chance. And perhaps if it arrives meanwhile newest SlimKat stable. When still battery life not as good as JB before, definitely ICS 2014 or Slim Bean again.

iam pretty much satisfied with SlimKat 3.10 weekly, runs smooth with semaphore kernal
dear masters, im looking for a custom rom that works with the voodoo sound app from playstore.
ics, jb or kk will do.
im currently running on cm10.2-20130826-nightly-galaxysmtd build (first sgs phone i have), it says on my voodoo app that it has a built in voodoo sound but i cant really hear the improvement (weak volume) over my other sgs with gb 2.3.5. + voodoo sound app from playstore (another sgs i bought from an online store).
some of the forum i visited says there is a tab for the wolfson dac on the dsp manager but i have non on my sgs running a custom rom.
i also tried installing a semaphore kernel but no luck, my sgs says that
no need to load module
built in kernel voodoo sound: v.0
"device or kernel not suppported.... "
any recommendations?
