Hi
Anyone using JuiceDefender with your galaxy note? is it worth it to buy this application?
Thanks
Sam
Save your money and skip it like anti virus apps. Many people recommended it so i bought it but i didn't like it at all. Experienced sluggish performance, connections not stable and sometimes connection doesn't even come back on unless i manually turn it back on. Also push mail doesn't work since juicedefender turns off data when not in use and checks every 15, 30 etc intervals (however u set it to check), i don't like that at all. I rather have 100% reliable fast performance connectivity than app that saves few % of battery. Just my 2cents

Yeah it does save quite an amount. You can configure it to on off Wi-Fi necessarily or learn specific network when you are on the particular area of interest.

How was it? any real battery improvement? any lagging issues?
Sam
My previous phone was pretty crappy and I had pretty crappy service, so I had to make sure I turned wifi, mobile data, etc. off when not using them. On my Note, I don't even bother turning them off because they drain so little. I don't think bothering with Juicedefender is worth the trouble.

Had an old Xperia Arc and Juice Defender worked quite well to last me the day.
Now with the Note, I tried with and without it and I find no significant difference actually.

I agree...
Being new to the android and rooting scene. I downloaded all the recommended apps and one by one uninstalled them including juicedefender...
Whats the point of it stopping data when screen is off? It defeats the purpose of push notifications.
Also I didn't notice any real extension of battery life either
I think it depends how you set up juice defender ultimate. For example on weekdays and working hours I use the "peek" option, letting jd enable connection every 5 minutes. Of course I have than battery drain. With different settings on different times and/or days (up to flight mode at night) I have significant less battery consumption.
It is also important when you use your phone a lot with the screen on, not to let jd automatically turn data on, because then there is obviously no difference at all, with or with out jd running.
There is no use of such apps, I have tried used many such apps from my S2 days and I never felt any difference in performance or battery life..just let it go. Ur using an Android device, and if u use it as a smartphone should be used, u will need to charge in at least once a day.

AutoStarts is doing everything for me.
I had used JuiceDefender for a short spell when on GB. However, BetterBatteryStats soon showed what a battery hog JD was, so I made it disappear from my phone. Forever.

Exactly. Juice defender is crap. Its just for lazy people who can't maintain their settings on their own. and juice defender is obviously always running in the background, using up cpu power and draining battery on its own

It does save little battery and drains at the same time. Huge down side of using this kind of app is no push and data connection is glitchy, sometimes takes awhile to connect back to network or wifi and slower performance. I can still use gnote all day with single charge so I don't find this kind of app useful to me at all. It's really not hard to turn off and on data or wifi on android unlike ios crap where you have to dig in settings.
Save few % battery vs slow performance, hit or miss connection.. I think answer is simple
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I used to use it, ultimate version. But I quit using it and still have great battery because of my own setting changes. Juicedefender might be okay for people that don't use their phone much. But, if you are constantly on it, like I am, it is just a memory and battery hog.
Its not worth it, and possibly wastes battery juice rather than saving it.
I've been using it for several weeks now, when i go to sleep my usual percentage is from 70 to 85 % i always turn wifi off as i don't charge it at night. With the app running in the background, when i wake up it goes down to 45% when i do not use it as in its not running in the background I'm the morning the battery percentage only hours down by 5% max to 80%.
Pcworld made an intensiv3 comparison on the effect this apps do. The verdict: keep your money.

battery saver is better
Don't bother. I used it on my HTC Flyer and I saw no difference. Migrated it to the SGN and I saw a huge difference after I uninstalled.
The features are limited and just stupid if you ask me. I believe the best battery app would regulste connectivity on demand (ie when I open Dolphin or refresh Facebook it would connect automatically and disconnect immediately afterwards).
If you are looking to extend battery life I suggest self regulating your connectivity (ie use the toggles) and screen brightness.
For even better battery life try and avoid apps that constantly run (eg ones that monitor other apos and processes).
You should get very decent life out of the SGN, and if you don't do what I did and get a spare battery. They are cheaper than you might think and they are an absolute life saver in emergencies or times with heavy usage.
Hope that helped

Alternatively you could take the overclocked NoteCore kernel and underclock it.
The kernel is undervolted, so disabling higher processor frequencies will give you the benefits of undervolting and the benefits of underclocking.
I.e. low power consumption and low temperature.

Its not a 4.0.4 LRK issue. I was running a rooted stock build and installed NoteCore kernel without any issues. When I flashed Rocket V10 it was only then that the battery life became crippling. Shame, I love Rocket and the tweaks but guess I'll go back to stock!

Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Take a look at the NoteCore thread in the development section for the undervolt details.
The overclocked kernel is undervolted.
Install the overclocked kernel then use something like Tegrak to limit the processor frequency to 1400 or 1200 then you will get the reduced battery drain of using lower voltages and lower frequencies on your processor.
Don't change the undervolting set in the overclocked kernel add this had been optimised.

I don't think it's the kernel's fault for the battery drain.. I think it's the modem..
I have been using notecore with all the touchwiz roms no battery problems at all
RR 10 with NoteCore 13
Just installed NoteCore 13 8hr ago, and plug the power cable for charging. Still plugged now, but the SpyCPU report shows that during the past 8hr, the phone didn't go into deep sleep (while I was ) , but it stays at 100Hz.
Will unplug now and go to work for a day. See if I can get a usage report after work.

Yep, definitely faced the same problem, which was the reason I switched to Classic Rom V4 (because of the newest firmware) but actually, though battery life is better, it is still worse than with AlBA v4...I haven't been able to determine whats behind it...

2nd of RR10 with NoteCore 13. The screen-on drainage improved. I read my whole travel time (around 1.5hr) on newspaper via 3G signal, and the battery went from 100% to 81-82%, which is acceptable for me.
Again, Deep sleep works perfectly.
I left this good rom because of this, deep sleep ok, but when the screen is on, too heavy battery drain. same with 2 kernels, should be another reason.

I tried with notecore and speedmod. I have used RR10 about 3 days to have several battery cycles. but I felt a big battery drain when using the note, even at low brightness, with nothing strange in CPUspy or BetterBatteryStats.
so I switched to JB liquid. Yesterday night. I would not say it is better for the moment to be honest. New rom, new kernel, not even a beta, so hard to compare, but you are right I feel the same today: high drain with screen on.
(but whatever the battery drain, with palm rejection available on CM9/10, I will switch again to a sammy rom)
I really cant seem to find a way to lower the screen on battery drain , its ,horrible ,
been on latest std notecore and speedmod , and with both i cant seem to get more than 2:00 - 2:30 hours of screen on time & basic use (in total of 10 - 12 hours ) , deep sleep is perfectly fine with 1% loss per hour (sometimes even less !!) , but with the screen on , battery just goes bursting -1% per minute........
we do need our devices to be used , not rested on deepsleep the whole time , otherwise this defies the whole concept of a "smartphone"....
on GB it was very good ,it got worse when Samsung introduced ICS (but was manageable) , but now on 4.0.4 , its just horrible and unacceptable!!! dunno what kind of testing Samsung does before rolling out an update...
sorry for the whole rant and rage post in there , had to speak it out cos im struggling here..
would be highly appreciated if someone can help or a suggest a 4.0.4 rom with a "reasonable" screen on drain... im even considering going back to RRv7 (4.0.3) cos as far as i remember i was getting good battery out of it (deep sleeping and screen on was great there)
cheers.

Did you wipe the cach and dalvik??? Worth trying this to see if this resolves the issue but backup your files first.
If not then, back everything up and try and full device restore.
Is that a full stock of LG ics? I think not much you can do about that. Other than trying one of the custom ROMs and getting battery efficient kernels.

Also here I report high battery drain.
Stock ICS ROM, rooted at first, then tried a battery usage data reset with no result.
Factory restore, same.
Wiped caches and dalvik cache (with CW recovery), phone bricked.
Un-bricked and reinstalled ICS stock, with CivZ_StormTrooper_rev3 kernel mod. Now with No Frills CPU & Juicedefender free, less than 10 hours without using phone (just data / h3g mode on).
First item in consumption list, "Android OS".
Any ideas?
Thank you
First. you should think about using an custom ROM based on stock. carburano Rom is Good but also Jishnu Sur´s rom is Awesome.
If you afraid to Root you Phone, it´s as easy a 1 2 3 nowadays just use this awesome Tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020737
Reason: Many of programms you don´t need are removed my first consumption is WIFI. So even if i have WIFI on all day, my phones is steady till the night.
Second. Reset Battery status in CWM
Third. You using a damn smartphone dont expect s**t that this will hold many days this is no Nokia 3210 BTW if you use it that means u use Battery Facebook BTW is one if the most active Programms i know. There´s "high drain" in Order.

Keep awake 12m 36s
I'm not sure if before ICS upgrade the "keep awake" time was so high, but I remember it was more lower than Time On. Just now Android OS is passed to 1st place in consumption list
How can I discover if it's an Android or battery related problem?

Without changing your system you could give "Juice Defender" a try, just look up in Appstore. I have no experience with this app, but it trys to defend your juice
I handled it by using some custom rom (recommending 4.1.2 and not 4.2.1 -> better battery life so far, look up some CM 10 ROM)
in dev forum pengus77 is working on some awesome kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2097788) that also raises battery life enormous.
with all that stuff my 2X works very nice since a few days.
BUT: read instructions befor you do anything please!

10-15 hours is quite a lot. Try to buy an extra battery. :good:
I used different ROMs and collected a lot of tips-n-tricks for a better battery life.
1. The less home screens you have, the better. Each swipe action, though it sounds strange, requires up to 100% of your CPU which hits the battery life. If you fit most of your icons and widgets to 1-2 screens, it will save your battery, because you won't swipe back and forth.
2. No need to keep the brightness on the lowest level, if you are using the ROM which lets you calibrate the backlight levels. Spend 1-2 days on choosing a comfortable level of brightness for each level of outer light intensity.
3. Move all togglers for WiFi, GPS etc. to the main screen (Elixir 2 [Widget] is a good tool to create a control panel) or to the notification area. It will remind you that some functions are turned on, and you'll be able to disable them. I always disable WiFi in the office, because I have a decent amount of free Mbs to spend, and our WiFi access point is 'blinking' making my phone reconnect again and again... you know. Don't forget to turn off GPS if you don't use it frequently.
4. Don't let your widgets synchronize the data too often. It's better to use synchronization on demand.
My phone with CyanVivo 10.1 aboard is able to live for 15 hours without recharging which includes web browsing, books reading, calls making and a bit of gaming. I guess that's the time period you need...
If you want, I can tell more about the apps that I'm using.
Thanks for your replies guys, I can definately see an improvement in battery life, but how do i change backlight levels? I want to be able to game with a decent amount of battery left. I only have three home screens and my Bluetooth, GPS, and WiFi is off when unnecessary.

If you're using CyanVivo 10.1, you have this feature.
Open Settings -> Screen, choose Brightness (I can be mistaken about the actual option names, because my system language is different, but I hope it won't mislead you), check 'Auto' box in the dialog box and touch the second button below (Customize or Calibrate or whatever -- again, I don't know how it's called in your case). You'll see a list of brightness levels which your device can distinguish according to its light sensor. Shift all runners to the left. Walk around with the device in your hands, look at its screen under bright daylight, in the room near the window, in the elevator etc. As soon as you see that some level is not comfortable to you (too bright or too dark), open this screen again, look at the current level (displayed at the top of the window with runners) and adjust the setting for the corresponding brightness range.
Remember that each next brightness level must be higher than the previous one (you won't be able to move the runner more to the left than the previous one.

I've killed Google Now as it was destroying my battery after the 4.4.2 update... screen is still the biggest killer of my battery though...
I went back to Nova Launcher immediately... no constantly active Google Now listening.
I've got 52% at 13h 23min on battery.
That's the *only* thing I've done after updating to the 4.4.2 OTA. No root, no mods.
Edit: Oh yeah, and I've got Lux installed for brightness control. Screen's a little dimmer than usual overall because holy COW I don't need it so bright all the time. Screen is still the biggest battery eater.

Greenify works on ART, xposed won't work which is required to use some advanced features.
Anyway OP, maybe try to wipe cache, and if possible wipe data too? Just don't forget to backup

I noticed more battery drain immediately after installing the first update and it's the same on the most recent one, 4.4 had incredible battery life.
Noticed same thing here. Same usage pattern and same apps as with 4.4 but battery life almost exactly 1/2 what it was. I'm hoping this will improve after a couple of charging cycles.
