Remember, if u lose root and u already have non direct rooting rom,u will put ur self in along story of downgrade, root, upgrade ,if for some reason u needed root again.

[Q] Galaxy note noob alert!

Hi guys,
I've recently purchased the galaxy note from an Iphone and I am definitely loving my new purchase.
However, I require some assistance/guide to rooting my phone. I have 2.3.6 XLA6 version and I am having trouble locating threads on how to root this version.
Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

Go to section 2.
You'll have to flash to 2.3.5 first then root. Just read it over and over and it'll make sense. I came from an iPhone and it took me a couple days to get used to all the android language...
Good luck!

+1 You can't root 2.3.6 but if you really want root, instead of going back to 2.3.5 why not try the leaked ICS rom, it comes rooted!

+1 but practice flashing with stock roms first so you don't brick your phone...
I learned flashing roms first then I tried the Midnote ICS rom which I highly recommend over all the other roms.

And how do you propose that he flash ICS without increasing the binary counter? His Note is unrooted.
Ayway, going straight to ICS would be unwise at this point, IMO. ICS poses enough problems for experienced users, let alone fresh ones.
So I'd stick with gingerbread for now if I were you. When you get some experience with your new phone, then you can flash anything you like.

You can't without increasing the binary counter, but if he's going to root it, he'll lose his warranty anyway, if that's what your worried about. Flashing ICS with Odin is very easy. I did it on my Note coming from 2.3.6 and works with no problem. But yes, it DOES INCREASE your binary counter.

There are ways of rooting your Note without increasing your binary counter.
Please do some reading before dishing out incorrect advice in the future.

Never said you increased your binary when rooting! I said you lost your warranty when rooting! I think you should read first, before being aggresive! I'm just saying what worked for me.

You lose warranty when your binary counter shows 1 or more, not when rooting. If your counter is NO, you can always flash back a stock Rom (unroot) and your repair service will never know you have tempered with your phone.
As I said, do some reading before offering advice.
Just i want to add this
Dear, rooting lose warranty, but it is very very easy to regain it by just simply unrooting(flashing a stock ROM is just enough)
while if you raise your counter, really nothing more difficult in note thn to reset it on GB. So i do favor chasmodo's concern.
anyway
@slippage
download this and just start with I have non rootable ROM, i dont think you will have more query after this.

[Q] Getting root without increasing the flash counter

Hi guys
Have upgraded from the HD2 to this device and loving it so far.
Is there a way to root device without increasing the flash counter?
I know the US version has a procedure for this here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1505062
Is there one for the GT-N7000?
Thank you

There's a thread in the Developers section with signed pre-rooted roms that will not trigger the counter when flashed with Odin. Worked like a charm for me.

two weeks ago I upgraded my mobile from N7000JPLA1 2.3.6 to N7000JPLPD 4.0.3 United Arab Emirates Using PC Odin.
Can I downgrade my mobile from N7000JPLPD 4.0.3 to N7000JPLA1 2.3.6 United Arab Emirates using PC Odin with the same procedure?
Please Advice me gentil men.
If i remember correctly i replied this to you on PM/other thread
Anyway yes, you can
You may get FCs / crashing , or even stuck at samsung logo when device reboot first time.
Dont worry for that and simply go to recovery and wipe cache and data (listen, this to be done on GB only)

Hi Dr. Ketan,
I have same model here, already rooted and installed touchwiz5 using CWM temp touch screen.
How to downgrade to N7000JPLA1 step by step please?!
Thanks
If you want to keep root, use mobile odin
Otherwise simply flash using PC Odin.

Thanks Dr.ketan
If I used mobile odin then I'll be safe from cwm bug?
I want my mobile to be safe
Note: what files should I download to do this?
Thanks in advance
Mobile odin have nothing to do with the temp CWM u have used for rooting, cause it is not even loaded, as long as u dont enter recovery or doing any wipes in ICS,so flashing GB rom from the installed mobile odin should be safe, and u can maintain root too,plz check dr.ketan guide for switching and downgrading roms for more info..

Flash safe kenel on ics, then you will be safe on wiping too.
Read my mobile odin guide, it shows how to update safe kernel while flashing ics rom.

[Q] How to update to official Jelly Bean

My Dad has the original unlocked Note, and I'm wondering how I can update to the official Jelly Bean without rooting or voiding warranty, as it isn't showing up in the OTA menu.
Open Samsung kies and Let it download the update or go to settings and update via OTA
Let me know if you have issues with this we will walk you through it
I've tried updating via both Kies and in About Phone, both places say that it's the most recent firmware available.
OK you are on a version that hasn't received the OTA yet.
You will have to install it via PC Odin.
Go to Dr.ketan's sticky thread for step by step instructions.
