Hi guys,
I have the rom ICS Beta8 created by Maclaw installed on my Galaxy ACE. Unfortunately I urgently need the camera (not yet operative on that ROM) and I wonder if you can tell me how to restore the original rom.
Thanks,
Dario

Friend, do you backup your rom before flash new rom? If yes, go to CWM and select backup/restore and select restore, after select the folder with your backups and "Yes - Restore". Your folder should is in folder of CWM in your SDCARD.
If you dont have backup you files with CWM, you need .zip file to install the other rom.

Search for ODIN Installer. It will help you to go to a stock rom.

Thanks mate. I don't have any backup. I have found many zip for Android 2.3 but I am unsure if I can update them using the recovery functionality of ICS.
I am sorry to have posted on the wrong session. Anyway I think this problem is related to development as I accepted to install the beta rom on my phone and I think mine could be a common problem of many people.

Hey buddy
If from a cm rom you want to go for a stock rom then you need Odin
Normal flashing via cwm won't work due to the different file systems
But the other way around works

Why go back to stock when you can flash CM9 latest version and install the camera zip.. Hey presto you have a working camera just no video yet.

Flash stock rom via Odin!!

You can flash any custom rom(as long as its ext4) just the same way you flashed cm9

Depends on what you want to do with your phone, if you are fine with running stock rom, don't change it as there is no need for it.
CWM is useful when you use custom roms (both for the flash process/wipes and backups/restore), stock recovery is useful for nothing at all in that case.
So, IOW, if you don't intend on using custom roms, stick with stock recovery, if you intend on using custom roms, get CWM.
Clockwork mod recovery lets you do things like wipe factory data reset, wipe cache, battery status etc.... and can also install roms from zip files. Stock recovery can't do that. Hope I helped Also clockwork mod only works if you are rooted first I belive.
Does this mean i need to use custom rom to get cmw? Can i use cmw in stock? I dont want to flash any custom rom yet but i need cmw to flash theme? Lol

You can flash CWM and use stock but i have no idea why you would, you can't use backup or restore and you'll have no use for it what so ever.
You never need to flash a theme, you install it via market or downloaded .apk, if it's a custom theme you need a theme manager and you'll download and install themes via that manager.
You do NOT need CWM for anything you are trying to do.

You can use cwm on stock.
However, the great function isn't working on stock.
It means, even if you use cwm on stock, it has no difference with original (stock) recovery.

If you are going to use CWM anyway, might as well use custom rom...

Hi! I have a question. I have the last cmw touch but i cannot do a nandroid backup of the stock rom (2.3.4) because it can't mount system and cache. It's really not possible to make a backup of the stock rom? I'm asking this because i did some modifications like removing preinstalled apps and things like this and a new flash of the rom is not the same for me...

hello,
How do I figure out what a custom recovery do i need to choose when i'm going to install a custom rom like 6.20.709.2

[Q] Please help for CWM.

I had a stock Gingerbread running on my P1000 and then, after following instructions from threads here and there,I installed a custom rom of CM 9.0.0 RC1 successfully.
During my installation,I flashed the kernel with odin 1.7 to install CWM on my tab.
Now,I want to use Pandroid Android ROM for jellybean in my tab.
My question is do I need to install CWM with odin again to install a new rom?
I did create a backup of my current ROM but i am unsure whether I need to install CWM with odin to proceed the installation of the Pandroid ROM.
Thanks in advance
No, from cm9 just boot to your current cwm and flash the new Rom.

[NOOB] I wanna flash a newer version of Hydracore

Been looking around the forums not sure If I'm not looking in the right places or just blind But looking for a safe kernal such as Hydracore to flash in my note, was wondering if there is any new version available.
[Please keep it noob friendly]
Georific
Hydracore 7 is stable so no need to update it. There is a hydracore reborn too for Touchwiz jelly bean roms.
Finally there is Phils kernel too which is safe stock but with added Cwm features.
There are more, but them 3 are the most popular

Thanks for the quick response, mind linking me some of the threads that have the downloads and also one more thing, do you know any step-by-step tutorials on how to flash a kernal and roms to the galaxy note. I followed one a while back and links are outdated was wondering if you link me a noob friendly tutorial.
I seriously think you should not flash anything if you cant even find it yourself...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749863
That's hydracore 7 can't really link things using xda app its a pain in the ass.
Anyway, find the kernel you want, if its a Cwm flashable one then place on your sd card, reboot recovery and flash it (install zip from sd, choose zip from sd)
If it's odin version (.tar) then load it into pda section of odin and reboot into download and hit start.
Same applies with roms, just load em on your sd and flash in recovery, read the OP for detailed step by step install instructions, some require wipes of /preload and /system

[Q] Installing JellyMod

I apologies If I'm posting in the wrong section, I literally just signed up. I've rooted my device and have got the jellymod file downloaded, however I've looked at some tutorials (couldn't find one specifically for I9070) and they say to use ROM manager with clockwork mod however it seems my model isn't supported so I'm quite stuck, help please!

Do NOT use rom manager...can result in a brick. After you've rooted, install a custom kernel with custom recovery and then just flash the jellymod using custom recovery after placing it in the ext sd card..

Go with CoCore..the same which is in the guide.. i believe that is 5.0 version.. you can update it later to 5.6 or 6.0 if you want to..
Edit- the link is to the main cocore thread.. so you can go ahead and install the latest i.e 6.0 with either twrp or cwm recovery..
