Hi all
What is all the kernel talk about ?
I want my phone to run the best...
my current ROM is WIUI 2.1.6
its using swiftkernel, but is that the best ? and whats the difference in all the kernels ?
Thanks to you all, and especially everyone how have made it possible to fool around between ROMs, changed my life for EVER
Here, in this thread you can find links to some kernels. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441725
The best kernel, is just a matter of taste. Some prefer for example Vadonkas KANG kernel above Ironkernel. So, read the threads and make up your own opinion about it and see for yourself which one works best.

Naaaahh... Just kidding!
CM7.2 Temasek KANG P204-30
Ironkernel (Vadonkas KANG)
Hello!
As already stated it is to some extend a matter of taste.
And as always - if it ain't broke don't fix it.
If the SwiftExtremeKernel works for you there is no need to change.
But in short - SwiftExtremeKernel (public) development has been abandoned by its dev so its getting old - this shouldn't be a big problem right now, but you don't get all the shiny new things and bug fixes...
ironkrnL has ramhacks if you can live with certain things not operating you gain memory and a lot of speed though this. I use 32MB ramhack where only reboot isn't working - I can live with that - while the extra memory already speeds up things considerably. Its is balanced between powersave and responsiveness - more to responsiveness and really fast and stable by the way...and tun and cifs are available...
vodonkas KANG Kernel is available in a 00 ramhack version and vodonka tries to make a powersave, a extra responsive kernel and a balanced version - more in his threat in development.
But again - if it ain't broke don't fix it...
Thanks for the small lecture and links
now I just need to know what all the different things means hehe
Very useful thread, so I've learned other thinks about the kernel of this device, now I'm using wiui with SwiftExtreme too, and I have a good battery life, but now I want try the vadonka kernel with the cyano kang version.

Kernel version - 2.6.32.9

I would not use CM7.1 stable, it's to old, you would be better off with a new nightly build or Temaseks Final KANG(i use it too)
ETaNa ist a good kernel, i'm running it on my device.

Hi,
loot at here
There are some explanations of 5 kernel
Personnally, i use ironKrn48
hoping to have you helped
bye
But those kernels can‘t be mounted on the cm7.1 stable (examples vadonka or swif) or i‘m wrong?

Personnaly,
I use CM7 Nightly, and i run with ironkrnl 49mb ram-hack. And it's run. My baseband is 725 and my RIL is v20l. But i find that my batttery don't live a long time.
For the Others kernels, i am testing them.
Now i‘m testing 23/02 KANG build with Etana 20/02 without DS, it seems work good

are you looking Undervolt support version? if yes then, you should at least try swiftextreme or vadonka kernel. i know that vadonka support for UV. but it depends on your decision try to look at the android development section.
and 1 more thing, don't hope your device will same with other people. example mine can't do UV
I dont think there is a need to have a whole new thread.. this info is already floating around in the general and the dev section

Hi sir, I'm using latest XXMr.Hyde's RC1-10 with Lagfix since yesterday...it seems very stable until now...I also try Jarvis, Nova and HP Supersonic kernel...all of these are pretty nice and stable but for my daily used...i'm on ironkrnL kernel.
I'm using V20s 2.3.4 roote
Baseband: 1035.21_20120521
Kernel: guestekrnL-FlixEdition-v1.3.1-Power
Very nice combination
@jimguitar: this is not ICS
I have tried every cm9 available on xda for the last few months and I must admit that MrHyde's RC1-10 with stock cm kernel is the most stable, responsive and fluid so far.
I also have tried all the kernels possible with OC but none of them beats stock cm at least for me. The phone doesn't slow down after some time, it's just perfect.
Also no freezes, reboots etc.

works fine for me.
I read something along the lines that HP Kernel doesn't have USB Mass Storage included so I stayed away from that one.
Cheers!

Hi,
still using this Kernel and this ROM? I have this ROM with Nova Kernel, but sometimes getting problems.
I want a kernel with Overclock and good battery life (of course, no battery overheating too!).
Thanks.
Which is the best?
Temasek OC Kernel vs ETaNa 3.0.35 vs ETaNa 2.6.32
Which one to choose for the best Battery Life, good for Gaming and Stable?
Thanks
Lately with ETaNa 3.0.35 I was having alot of SODs :/
Personnaly, when i'm on GB or MIUI v2, i love the Vadonka's 2.6.x kernel even if it's out-to-date...because it is Stable. The 3.0.x version is not that stable as the 2.6.x but it's updating oftenly once a week. The Temasek's kernel is optimized for his Rom, so if you're on CM7, go for it. Btw, those kernels are very excellent. All depend on what you're gonna do with it. You can try another kernel named ironkrnL by SetiroN. This kernel is good with GB and ICS but this developer isn't on this forum anymore, just google it and you'll find it. He's on google+...
Here's the kernel I use for GB and MIUI (WajkIUI too): derkernel, etana, guestekrnL, Jarvis, Skynet, Temasek, vorkKernel, ironkrnL...
For ICS (CM9): harsh, HP SuperSonic, Jarvis, Nova kernel and also ironkrnL
Finally, just give a try on those kernel and give us feedback.
:good: Push Thanks Button if that help :good:
I was using ETaNa 2.6.32 for about 1 month and was very pleased, then i started flashing the Etana 3.0.xx. In the start they worked very well for me but the latest stable and beta made my phone going crazy, tried all settings like 324Mhz minimum, tried without UV but i got lots of reboots and overheating problems.
Best performance I thing i saw at Etana 3.0.34 and the battery improved too in this version, the 3.0.35 was to unstable to me to get an opinion.
Now about the temasek OC and the Etana 2.6.32 (loc_lite) both on 1200Mhz max i think temasek's kernel is bit better all around and i am using it atm. But still i am waiting for vadonka to get back from vacations to get his 3.0.xx back on track.
I think temasek and vadonka brink the best out of our 2x!!!

I am looking for a good rom for Optimus 4x, I bought a week ago. My old phone was a galaxy 5, then had a few roms available, but with the Optimus 4x there are several roms, and I do not know which to choose. In your opinion, what is the fastest and most stable rom, and the best kernel?
Beat ROM threads are not allowed on XDA as you will get six different opinions from five different people
Read the threads, decide the ones you like the sound of and try them.
Hehe. For me CM 10.1 + iodak kernel. As many users as many ways...

If youre running stock rom, and wants the best battery life with performance...Use Iodak kernels

Iodak kernel v07 or v06 go with v06 for better battery. Stay stock and just use Iodak Kernel
At the moment I'm with Slim Bean rom, with kernel Optimus prime. The performance is very good, and the battery is satisfactory
I use JellyBeer Rom with the new WerewolfJB kernel and I think i have good Battery life
You must try it by yourself

Yeah I've been using cm10 based ROMs and kernels most of the time I've had this device , just went back to 20a with Kodak 006 and its highest benchmark with easily the best battery , loving stock 4.1 atm
I use CM 10.1 + WerewolfJB v7
Yes I found the same iodak v6 seems the best as v7 seems not as good on batt or performance.
