hello! I have a little problem (Maybe its known but search didn`t help D: ) so when i plug in my phone with USB to computer, it goes insane (Clicks everything, and wont let me use it)
i cant even press buttons to mount SD. is it fixable? its really anoying
It seem to be a hardwareproblem of the phone. Near of the USB-port is a flexcable which is plugged off by using p.e. inadecuate USB-chargers. The consequence are realy strange behaviour of the OB.
You can try first to plugg it to an another PC with another USB-cable.
If you try a exotic rom, can this be the root of the problem.
Regards!
Oh, ok ill try. Thanks for help no "exotic" roms used stock-rooted v20o

If you got CWM, try mounting through it

It might also be from the interferences in the electric current. For example, if you have a tv tunner installed with the antenna cable plugged, it might send interferences in ur computer. Try another computer as you were advised by Pacos1, or directly in the power outlet

Then it seems you have a problem on your laptop. I bet that in your power outlet where you plug in the laptop there are some other consumers. Maybe a tv, or smth else that could interfere with the laptop. Try charging the phone on the laptop when it runs on battery, and see what happens. If the problem persists, you must measure the electrical current that runs out from USB port. If the phone runs ok, then you have to find another outlet to power your laptop.

Greeting to XDA-community.
I have a problem. I don't have any opportunity to use regular charger for my G1. So I used charging via usb, but when I have turned on Wifi (ad-hoc to connect with laptop) and started to use G1 heavily it just dropped dead (battery is 0%). As I understand charging via usb is less then amount of power G1 uses during heavy use. But now I can't charge the phone at all. I have killed my second battery (stock too) the same way. The only thing that I see when connect to usb is that LED is red, sometimes light is pulsating, but can't turn the phone on. I also use to different source of charging. The problem I can do this only from USB port . Did somebody have such problem? I need someway to charge it...
Thanks for any help
You could try a powered USB hub, but if youa re going to buy something, why not just buy a charger?

I am using smth like this, a charger for mp3 player with 5.2v. Doesn't help
I am in Europe for couple of weeks, charger isn't working here due to different plugs, so I didn't bring it with me (but should , you can buy adapter US-EU plug without problem), thought charging via USB is working well, but it don't.
Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with my incs lately, it WILL ONLY charge on any mode other than charge only... That means I can only charge it using a computer on either usb tether/usb storage. (When its in USB Storage, I can read my SD card from my computer)
The problem come when i tried to try the USB host using the Y cable, I think i messed up somewhere. The phone thinks that there is a data session running INTO my device, and to make things worse, I set my USB to PC connection to Disk Drive by default. After I unplug the device from the Y cable the Disk Drive symbol still exist and the led (orange) still lighting up. I connect it to the charger and plug off, it seems to turn off the disk mount and led. However after that point, I can't never charge using charger/usb charge only. (Its a flash drive and a 5VDC power source on the other end of the Y cable if you are wondering)
I have tried flashing different ROMs, even charge when the device is off, charge in recovery, and wipe battery status. None works.
So... For now I think I fried the USB controller, so can anyone suggest any solution? HW replacement or a SW that will make the phone think all plug that goes to the microusb is a data? or any other?
Thank you in advance
What kernel/mod are you using for USB host?

Well, I failed using it, I was using ARHD, and there was no USB host capability.
Can someone suggest what the problem might be? Is it just the port or something deeper? If its just port, thank god this spare part is avaiable

Or its the controller

You can change what it defaults to, can't you? Change it to charge only mode. How is your device unlocked and have you done any other mods?
I can assure you its not something to do with the mod/software. Currently the phone cant be charged t all unless you charge the battery separately.
I think when i plug a charger , the current goes in reverse direction, making it discharge even faster, rather than charging

That's actually not possible, but you may have a charger issue. Have you tried another one?

Have you find any solution yet?

The only similar question had no answers, so I'm going to give it another shot.
My wife's Captivate (Froyo, rooted) has suddenly developed a nasty habit of powering off whenever the USB cable is connected. The instant the cable is inserted the phone goes black. Unplug the cable, press "power" and the phone boots up fine.
1. She swears she didn't do anything (like dropping it) to cause the problem. And there doesn't appear to be any physical damage around the port.
2. The problem isn't limited to a single cable, and the phone used to work with all the cables tested,
3. While plugged in, the phone will not turn on but the battery will charge.
4. The phone works fine when unplugged.
5. Wiggling/torquing the connector has no effect.
-edit- 6. The phone doesn't die unless the standard USB end of the cable is connected. Just connecting a loose cable to the phone has no effect.
Any thoughts?
Since u posted edit 6.....maybe it is the usb port u r plugging into. Try another port or another pc, etc. Just thinkin process of elimination.

Thanks for the reply, but we can eliminate that. No matter what's on the other end--computer, charger, etc--it kills it.
Try a different battery, if ya got one. May be goin bad and then when u plug in the usb the voltage change triggers something. Idk...just guessin.
But it really sounds like the problem lies with the phone's micro usb port bein bad.

Whatever the problem was, it was fixed by updating from froyo to stock gingerbread.
Good deal. And thx for lettin us know that ya got it fixed.

My sgh-i757m cannot turn on, I cannot access recovery or download mode, and my computer will not register the phone when I plug it in using the USB. I have tried to install and re-install the USB drivers for the samsung mobile phones and even that didn't work. Any suggestions?

Maybe:
1)Your USB-cable is corrupted. So phone cant turn on because battery is empty. Charging with this cable is not possible, computer also doesnt detect phone.
2) measure voltage of the battery if possible or try in another phone
3) what computer did you use? Linux/windows?
Does lsusb command (linux) shows your phone? Please connect phone at the motherboard-usb-ports of the PC (most times the USB-ports on the bach of the PC)
4)does your phone show anything when trying to switch on / trying to charge?
eg. Screen backlight or touchkey backlight.
5)Try different usb-ports.
6)You can buy a so called jig for a few bucks. Maybe you can boot to download mode with that.
Do NOT press the thanks button

LM

I use Windows 7 on a Lenovo V570. The USB cable has been working fine with my SGS2 but now even when I plug it in to my laptop or the wall nothing shows up to tell me that it's charging. I've also tried different USB ports and different USB cables. I think it might be the device itself. I had ~70% battery life when this happened.
Also, I hit the thanks button because I'm still half asleep.

I'ts a Hard-Brick. It means that your phone is actually like a brick
The only thing that you can try is to buy a USB-Jig (google it for more info) or going to the shop to repair it.

Either contruct your own jig (It's just a resistor between two pins)

...or check if you can borrow one. Check these threads out:

Hi there! Well, my fire is running fire nexus ROM, and my problem is that the tablet neither charges nor detects any USB connection. I can use it while plugged to ac adapter but when I run an app with high CPU load it will shut off. It doesn't even show plugged and charging. When I connect it to the computer there is not any notification to choose USB modes. So I cannot revert to stock since it won't be detected and if I use flash fire it might power off and brick it... Is this a hardware issue? Can the charge system be bypassed?

Almost certainly a hardware or cable issue. Swap cables to eliminate the latter. Also look for bent/missing pins in the USB port. Contact Amazon for a courtesy exchange if still under warranty.
I tried many cables, and sent it to repair, but didn't change at all. Thanks for your reply. So I was thinking about a way of charging it externally
