I'm using rocket rom v23 with Abyssnote kernel version 4.2. And overclocked to 1.4ghz with ondemand using SETCPU. I don't have any background running application other than background data and gps enabled all the time.
For past week my phone is very slow and i need to wait for couple of seconds to let the app open. Why is this happening and what is the resolution?? I don't have any issue in battery. And also I don't want to loose any app's data.

Overclocked? But it's already 1.4 ghz.
Which launcher do you use? How many apps installed? How many widgets placed on your screens? And beside that just a simple hint: look forward for ICS...the lag will be gone immediately

You mean the official update? How can you be sure it will vanish the lag?
It is clear you have done something to the system.. even a stock note performs better than this.

Lag is in most if not in all Notes !
My Galaxy Note also have lag problem
I have GS2 and Note and GS2 is like bullet on Stock gingerbread ! Just open app booom opened ! I think it's because GS2 already had a bunch of patches and updates to the OS comparing to the Note !
So I think the only way to fix this in Note is to wait for ICS !

Try rebooting into CWM then clearing cache and davlik cache. I had similar problem with another ROM gradually slowing down and wasn't sure what was causing it. Clearing the caches sorted the problem.

I have overclocked a few phones in my past, but the Note? Really its so fast and all works super smooth. Maybe with the right ROM where the dev already pre-overclocked it... But setCPU was never working great for me. Maybe just my opinion, but wipe, and get yourself a good ROM. No need to overclock this beast.
There is no lag "problem" per se. period. Stating there is a "problem" makes the assumption that there can be a fix.
You cannot fix the inequality in display processing between the S2 and the Note, given that the Note must process 2.6 times as much information for the display as the S2, so it will ALWAYS appear to be not quite as fast as the S2, given it has similar hardware.
So given you cannot get a gallon of beer in a pint glass, making it a different pint glass (ICS) wont help.
Now, sure the appearance of "lag" on the Note can be minimised thru tweaking optimisations, but note (small n) that the same can be also applied to the S2! Essentially, never in a month of Sundays will two devices with similar hardware, one of which is doing 2.6 times the work, ever appear to operate with the same UI zip.

The thing is...I don´t have any lag at all. Even with stock. BUT I can see a huge difference (on Stock rom) between TouchWiz and alternative launchers. Touchwiz is smooth as butter, whereas Go Launcher Ex shows a small lag (and it´s the fastest GB launcher alternative afaik.
And beside that: Currently I´m on Stunner (ICS) and here it is even a better experience. Absolutely no lag or waiting time, never, period.
I can´t sign the statement anymore, that the note is slower than a SGSII...I have both of them, and on Stunner it´s quite the same experience

I'm getting "Non Responding" box (old FC box...) on every ICS Rom I've tryied till now. Talking about ICS TW, stock or Custom.
When I go to Settings-Applications, the screen take some time to show apps (it's normal, OK), but after that, it doesn't show the apps size.
It freezes some seconds, then go Black screen, except for the notification bar. Nothing works, except the screen time-out.
After about 30 seconds, the message "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped working" or so, appears.
This issue appears frequently after a massive apps installation, i.e., after a data/factory reset changing Rom.
In other words: once the 2GB of internal memory are half-filled, the probability of this issue is high.
The phone works right, otherwise; but is hard to push big apps into the SD. I must open Apps2SD, be care to the "time window" while it shows "computing...", and force-push to SD, before Settings FC in the underground.
Sorry if I have been too long. The issue is really easy to see in the real life...
Nobody has/had this issue?

Notecore 14.1 OC
CleaNote v6
But this behavior appears on ICS, on any kernel-Rom I've tryied, Last Philz's are glam, but same thing. Hydracores are the worst, even with CleaNote!
Best w. Notecores and Speedcores. Std or OC doesn't influences noticiablely....
Edited; this behavior remembers me sadly the fatal combination Milestone-Droid with official Froyo update, who had same problem, amongst others...
Run a scan with the following app, sounds like you may have damaged emmc. If the scan crashes its bad news.

I yet had this app, but only made brick-bug test ("bad chip").
Anyway, "test passed"....
Another suspect behavior: if I click Storage on Settings, it takes almost 5 minutes (!) to display the USB storage occupation.
Never seen that on GBread, even with a huge number of apps.
Edited: writing this with the Note. It really works, as you can see. In fact, the Settings issue is the only noticiable one.
Just as a last thing, try removing external sd card, see if you get same behaviour after reboot.

I've flashed a JB Rom, the Sweet Rom v 2,5. I have almost a half internal apps memory occuped, and things are right! :good:

Now things go faster an safer.
I've downloaded a lot of things on my nexus 7, but now it's getting slow and unresponsive, would a factory reset fix that issue? Also is there a way to keep some videos and pictures after a factory reset?

Try asking the question in Q&A section next time.
Also try cleaning the cache
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=cache&c=apps
Don't install any crap on your device which you don't really need.. even cache cleaners. You can clean the cache from within the OS. Settings>Storage>Cached Data.
Keep at least two GB's of storage free, one thing I noticed is when you fill up your storage the device gets really slow and lags real hard.

That's what I heard. I also heard that once you do get to the point of it lagging, the only way to fix it is a full wipe,, supposedly just clearing some space doesn't fix it.

I was noticing lag in my system as well, even after multiple full wipes and clean installs. What helped me incredibly was wiping the internal storage, and I had like 8 gigs free still.. So might wanna try that.

You can try adjusting the read ahead too. I heard that once there's not alot space left that lowering or playing with the read ahead might improve performance.

I loved the Nexus 7 from day one, it was fast, fluid and stock android is always a good thing. But somehow Google managed to make the Nexus 7 look old by providing an update which basically kills project butter. These are my impressions:

I agree, compared to 4.1.2 on my note 2 the nexus 7 with 4.2.1 lags to much.
Has there been any information about if/when we will get another update?

No I haven't and I won't do it either, because it will only be a temporary solution as with the forever gone app. Newly wiped devices are always faster but only until you install all apps again and use them for some time. Then the lag will start again, at least this is my experience of the past years with all mobile devices that have performance issues.

There's something to what you said. But I think in this case there is something that goes awry with the 4.2.1 update mechanism and leaves something misconfigured.
Do a factory reset
Then configure Currents to not do background sync
Then change WiFi settings to not stay on when the tablet is sleeping

I agree. I've heard lots of issues when upgrading. There is a lot of changes the SD folder structure and relocation of lots of data that could be the culprit.
I can't say if it makes a difference because I reset often between Rom flashes and major updates. My N7 is still super quick. In fact it feels the same/faster then my brand new 4.1.2 N7 (my tester device). I've been on PA for a long time and haven't factory reset in a long while either.

Nope, I'm just picky on what I put on my device. Not a load of music and videos, very minimal amount of apps, stock, Nova Launcher Prime, and do regular manual cache maintenance on it to keep it clean. Never have say, eight apps running at the same time on it, either.

No, im talking about the extreme lags on nexus 7 since 4.2.1. This didn't happen on 4.1... I'm not talking about some general slowdown of the system which is happening when you load it with apps...
Mine came out of the box using android 4.2.1. I seems reasonably smooth but the app drawer suffers random lag unlike store units that run 4.1.2.
Overall on stock rom, it is not even close to lag, just a bit of minor stuttering for me with launcher that's all.
Do factory reset. Fixed all the issues for me. I had all the problems you've been having.
After reset it was back full speed.
Do it.

Isn't this generally the same with all devices?
For example, completely fill up your computer's hard drive and test how laggy it is compared to when it had nothing but the OS installed.
