You've seen a lot of cameras with a pause for the record? I do not.
with some, old, phones is possible... some time back I had a samsung tocco and it was possible to start rec-pause anytime-restart rec anytime and even zoom in and out while recording video... which is not possible [at least not yet] with our phone
No app can provide these options??

For silent just go it ur system folder using a root explorer app and find the camera app I think it system/media/audio/ui and then just rename whatever file ur camera sound is labeled I'm sure its not the same for every brand of phone and voila no camera sound

Is there a way to silence the noise the phone makes when taking a picture? It's the added digital shutter noise, and we all know that digital cameras don't make those noises anymore! LOL
Open the camera. Click menu then click the gear wheel. Scroll down and uncheck the box next to shutter sound.

Thanks! For some reason I new what to do but couldn't remember, major brain fart. Ok, another question....is pressing the on screen button the only way to take a picture using the camera or can you default the volume or on/off switch to take one? (I am talking about the normal back camera, not the low quality front one)
No problem...glad it worked for you.
As far as taking a picture, I think the only option at this point is to use the on screen button. In order to use one of the physical keys, you'd either have to use a different camera app that includes button-mapping functionality or wait and see if someone creates a mod for the Bionic's camera that allows it to be changed.
Anyone know what is up with 3rd party camera apps still making the shutter noise? I have it off on the default app and it works fine. But using a 3rd party camera makes the shutter noise no matter what. I've tried it with 2 other apps and both have an option to disable shutter noise but it still makes it. I guess not updated for the Bionic yet? Though that doesn't make much sense.

I can tell you that Camera360 does it for sure. Disabled the sound but it still plays anyway.
Vignette does it too. I turned off the sound, but it's still there.
I noticed the same thing with Tasker, even when all volumes are muted, using Tasker to take a photo (even with "discrete" mode), there is still a shutter click sound.

Quoting myself for solution: renaming "/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg" appears to disable the shutter sound for all camera use.
I find this video and on this optimus black has different camera app. This camera app has video editing tool i using europe open 10e rom and there is no video editing tool. How can i find this camera.apk?Or anyone has video editing tool can u share your camera.apk in system/app...

First time I'm seeing those features, and I've watched a ton of video reviews about this phone both before and after purchasing it. Looks like the owner of the video is LG, as you can also see from the actual photos inside the phone of the LG Headquarters. This probably means that it's a developer preview or maybe the 2.3 Camera application
There's a german header on this video "This is not final Software, so apps and functions may vary"...
This feature is evident in the Australian version of the user guide.
I do not know whether it actually is in the roms for this region?
holy **** i want that!
i would flash back to stock just for that app.
the only reason preventing me is that the stock camera app is unable to disable the shutter sound, ass

To the best of my knowledge, there's no such stock camera application. If there would, we surely would have it in each port (which means one so far...).
here is a (german) thread about removing shutter sound. there you'll find a modded camera.apk.

The camera with removed shutter sound is here as well:

Wow, if they had this feature for awhile and only decide to release it along side gingerbread as a 'new' feature, it would just be poor taste :O
Hi guys,
I've rotted my S3 Mini and I'd like to remove/rename the camera sounds files (shuter, focus ecc...)... can you help me fo find those files?
Check in system/media/audio/ui and there should be Auto_focus.ogg and Cam_click.ogg replace them with your desired .ogg files.

I just deleted my cam focus and shutter sound didn't replaxe them with anything.

Not yet...
Thanks for response!
I've renamed from *.ogg to *.bck:
auto_focus.ogg
auto_focus_error.ogg
Shutter.ogg
Shutter_multiple.ogg
VideoRecord.ogg
After reboot only the shutter sound are silent. The autofocus and manual focus beep is still there and starting and stoping video recorder still make beep...
Any idea?
How bout listening to all of them on your PC (or even phone) and then recognize and delete/substitute proper ones? It shouldn't be that hard.

there is a simper way to enable recording in this i9070 on Android 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 (even modded). Just use it:

I checked it and it works perfectly, you can combine it with "Call recording - ACR" program from Google Play Store.
Is it me or is this weird? When I'm listening to music via native music app, Poweramp or Spotify and open the camera, it kills the music - whether it's playing on headphones, BT or just on the phone.
My SGS8 didn't (I don't think) and my son's iPhone 6S doesn't - much to his amusement.
Is there a workaround that anyone's found cos I've found nothing...?

I had a similar issue, was listening to music on Spotify and wanted to make a small video to send to my wife of where I am.
On pressing record it would run, audio in use.
Used WhatsApp video and sent direct and it was fine.
Potentially with that in mind, could be the p20 pro camera app.
Do you have any sounds on for your camera? Ie shutter sound, zoom audio, touch sounds? All these noises may override the audio being played from another app (music)

Hi dladz
Thanks for the reply. I've actually found the culprit - Audio Control.
Obviously the app mutes the handset in order to listen out for commands.
Toggle this off and I'm able to send videos that include my current soundtrack!
Thanks anyway buddy.

What setting is that, is it the one in the camera settings? I have it off and it still shuts off music when i start recording a video. This has been pissing me off for the longest time.

Yeah, just in settings on camera tab - as per the screenshot
I toggle it on when music's playing on Spotify and it cuts the audio so definitely the cause/solution on my phone... My camera is set to 'mute' also - could be a factor.

Yeah, i've tried those settings before both toggled on and off and 1 on 1 off too, still having the problem. I basically gave up on it thinking it maybe was something in android but seeing how it's actually working for you guys is pissing me off again. I even factory reset the phone once due to this.
Haha, sorry for pissing you off dude...
If it helps I was well chuffed when I sorted it earlier!!

Bare in mind that you're using music and video at the same time, as I said in my post if one app is using audio then another can't.
AFAIK anyway

The thing is i never used to have a problem streaming music through bluetooth to headphones for example and film a video with audio from the mic. It stopped working for me a long time ago but still annoys me, if i remember correctly it stopped working back when i had my P10 Plus.

Just found this: https://errorfixer.co/stop-camera-pausing-music-android-lollipop-above/
Just tested with Open Camera and Footej Camera apps and no problem filming while playing music so i'm going to try the above fix tomorrow.

Looks like that solved the problem, don't have bluetooth headphones here right now so can't test that but starting to record video is not killing Spotify for me anymore. Quite annoying to have to do this but at least it's an easy fix.

Aye that's what I'm saying.
It's the p 20 pro camera app.
Stumbled on it literally to you days ago.
You'll find that the WhatsApp camera works too as I said.
Some part of the app (cam) is taking total control over audio.
Turn off all audio features on the camera app perhaps.
Shutter sound etc.
Unless... It's the usage of video itself ie: the audio
In which case I'm not sure how to fix it
Edit: I need to read on more
Will read the link I guess.
Nice one

Anyway.
A more in-depth explanation of the switch, potentially for other apps too, I'd assume this can be done by editing a file.

And lastly, an app

That's normal
But you can revoke the cameras power over audio focus.
Those links would explain it.

No worries fella.
If you're interested it is the p20 pro camera app which is hogging focus.
If you check that post I made you can take it back.
Tbh I agree that with it pausing audio is a better option.
I just wish it resumed afterwards which apparently can be set as a parameter in the files that govern audio focus.
Might be with having a play about with it, personally I can't remember another phone I've had having this symptom.
Either way glad you're happy.
