i have galaxy s plus
and i want to root it
and change rom
how can i do it?
The instructions below are for I9000 but I guess they would work just fine.
First of all, you gotta install a base JVU ROM via Odin (instructions here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xxjvu/).
After that, you can root it (instructions here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/root-xxjvu-firmware/).
And then, just copy the .zip file with the ROM on the phone memory and install it directly with CWM.
Cheers,
Mihai
DO NOT flash Galaxy S (I9000) Stuff on Your Galaxy S Plus (I9001)
It will **** up your phone..

First of all, you gotta install a JVU ROM via Odin (instructions here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xxjvu/) which can be easily rooted.

For rooting & unrooting use the my tutorial:

If you want to flash CM9 you will need gingerbread.
There are 2 ways to upgrade, the official way and the unofficial way:
Official way: 1. Download 'Samsung kies'.
2. Plug in your ace.
3. Select upgrade.
Unofficial way: 1. Go to sammobile.com
2.Find the ace and your regions firmware.
3. Download the firmware + flashtool(Odin)
4. Load all the packages as shown in the flash guide.
5.Put the ace in download mode(power+vol down)
6. Connect ace and flash.

Since flashing ics cusrom like cm9 need clockworkmod and latest CWM only available for gingerbread so 1st of all you need
- upgrade your hh to gb
- root it
- instal latest cwm
- flash cusrom you wanted

From my SGA ヽ(´▽`) ノ
So I got my SGA back and decided to flash a fresh stock ROM. After I googled something about the latest ROM for Ace I found a recent firmware for Spain - XWKTM, so I flashed it via Odin.
Now, I needed to root my phone and got the zipped file from here: http://everythingprecise.blogspot.com/2012/03/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-ace-s5830.html.
But I want to flash CF root kernel and change the recovery with CWM. Should I proceed with flashing the said 2 files without worrying about probably bricking my phone? Just wanna make sure, of course.
See attached "About Phone" screeny. (if it helps)

visit My Android Collections, look under unlock & Root, you have the option of using an app or by using your PC or flashing a CF Root or semaphore Kernel.
try this, it worked for me.
1st:
Install or Unbrick 2.3.6 Gingerbread in Samsung Galaxy S i9000
youtube.com/watch?v=DDg4oyRNets
2nd
Root 2.3.6 Gingerbread Samsung Galaxy S i9000
youtube.com/watch?v=Pq_2Z1drKzc
and i even maked my I9000 to android 4.2.1
Install 4.2.1 Jelly Bean in Samsung Galaxy S i9000 by Cenouralm
youtube.com/watch?v=LP9EomkF06c
All worked for me
I managed to root and install CWM without using a computer, here's how I did it... I was on gingerbread 2.3.6 so I installed Framaroot v1.5.2 to get root as Mobile ODIN needs root and won't work without it. link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276 then I installed Mobile ODIN (free in market) and the Mobile ODIN flash kernal here http://bit.ly/17kEetk next I download CF-Root here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108 unzipped CF-Root and placed it in Mobile ODIN, when you open mobile ODIN it'll say you need to download extra data, but it's only if you're flashing firmware, you don't need to download the extra data just for flashing kernels so ignore it... flash it and Mobile ODIN will install CF-Root then it'll auto reboot... once rebooted, go into recovery mod and you should now have CWM as well as Root access... hope that helps.

(1st:
1.1 Follow Cyanogen mods install wiki and download the Usb-driver(remember to reboot after) and the other stuff(no need for the android sdk). Youll have to google for heimdall-frontend
1.2 Use heimdall frontend to install 2.3.6 Gingerbread(XWJVZ_heimdall.tar for i9000) and dont freak out if mobile data is not working, it will work after step 3.)
as odin didnt recognize my soft bricked device, id stick to heimdall.
2nd:
follow cyanogenmods wiki advice and use heimdall to install cwm recovery, dont forget to visit your phones settings and put USB-debug on.
3rd:
a)
use your phone to download the rom-image +gapps you want. Boot to recovery, perform wipes and install.
or
b)
or if you want to stay with 2.3.6---> flash a working modem from recovery if its not working properly.
Dear all
I sot bricked my GT 5570 whilst trying to root and flash CWM.
I can still access download mode and stock recovery.
However, trying to flash custom roms, I get errors.
Older forum threads give the hint to reinstall STOCK Rom with odin (one file or four file) in order to revert phone to working version.
I googled and did not find any working stock rom link (which is free, i found some stange 4shared link that wants my facebook login or money).
Thus my question: does anyone have an old GT 5570 stock rom (2.3.4 to 2.3.6) that I could flash to regain control of my phone either as link or mirror?
Thank you very much in advance,
Joker
Make usb jig, its very easy. And then your phone should boot up into download mode
