When I try and sync my tp running cm9 alpha 2 with exchange server it requires me to use encryption now that it is available on android. On previous versions of android I didn't have to do this since it wasn't available. I'm okay with doing this however encryption never works, and thus I can't sync exchange. Are other people having this problem? Is there a way to fix it?

I'm using Modaco's Desire ROM, but I doubt it's a ROM issue given that the problem only started recently (and never occurred in previous alpha builds) and that, from a quick google search, this seems to happen on a range of Android phones, stock ROMs and otherwise. I think the problem started when I added a second gmail account to the phone temporarily because I needed to check my other mailbox. Removed that account since, though.
I tried doing the fix_permissions method. No luck. Rebooted the phone, no luck. I suppose I'll have the phone anyway when Paul releases the next alpha and hopefully that will fix it, but before that point, does anyone have any idea how do I deal with this? Not being able to use the market is bugging me.

Have you tried manually signing into G-Talk?
Yep. Stuck at "Signing in..." perpetually, so no go there either, alas.

About half the time I dl from market the dl doesn't start. I restart the phone and its fixed. Sometimes I hold power and when menu comes up, the dl starts. But yeah I'm not rooted and it happens constantly on WiFi , 3g, e , g networks.
That didn't do the trick either, sadly. Guess I'll just wipe when alpha 13 comes out.
Does anyone know why my exchange starts, brings in all the mail, then starts a "Freeing OpenSSL Session" infinite loop and email stops coming in?
I know I posted in another thread but Google Customer Service says it is my IT and my IT says it is the new OS. I just need anyone out there that understands this and can help me make sense of what is going on?
Just spoke with Google Tech Support -
They said this is definitely an OS error. It has happened with past OS because they did not include all Certificates in past versions. 2.2 is supposed to have all versions and an options to accept any that were not included.
They said that obviously my phone is not accepting the certificate from my server.
He ended by saying he hopes this is only my phone and server and not a more widespread issue since the OS is rolling out soon to the other units.
There was no solution since this requires the programmers attention to figure out why the OS is not accepting the certificate.
In short, OS 2.2 will not work with my server.
I have tried manually installing the .cert files onto my phone with no success. My IT believes the UCC cert is breaking the activesync because Google did not include these in Android and did not allow Android to accept other Certs....
I just wish anyone else was having this issue.
did you upgrade to FRF91? might be helpful, since they said they fixed some security issues.
I did update to FRF91.
This is really weird that Touchdown will work but Exchange will not.
I know there are past instances of this and it has something to do with the OS's approved SSL and what is on the Server. Also apparently the way OS 2.2 handles unknown certificates causes this problem.
I have tried ClassicNerd, CherryKang, and CM9 0.6. In all of them I cannot connect to my VPN. Neither L2TP PSK nor PPTP works. Tries to connect but then displays "unsuccessful" almost immediately.
Any ideas?
Me too!
Any solution?
A helpful user on Rootzwiki posted this usefull information:
"Unfortunately, you are correct that neither PPTP or L2TP work (yet)... It's documented here: http://code.google.c...&sort=milestone you can however use DroidVPN (http://droidvpn.com/) or OpenVPN with another service provider (ie: http://www.strongvpn...roid_open.shtml)"
So it seems OpenVPN does still work. I didn't try it yet, because it is much more of a hassle than the other 2 options.
Oops, silly me. Do these builds include TUN.KO files? Haven't set up OpenVPN in a while, so I forgot about this issue.
Resolved this issue using OpenVPN. Fortunately the Tun.Ko file is included. Followed instructions on this page:

The only thing that user doesn't mention is the /keys directory. I am using HMA instead of StrongVPN.
So i am running Nexus S CM9 4.0.4 Crespo Nightly and VPN works.
I tried the same setup on HP TP CM9 4.0.4 Tenderloin Nightly and it says unsuccessful, am I "doing it wrong" or it is implemented in some CM9 code and not on the TP?
What setup are you using, exactly? OpenVPN? PPTP? PPTP still doesn't work for me and I am having some throughput problems with OpenVPN. It connects fine but the throughput drops off very quickly. That may, however, be a server side problem. Still looking in to it.
On my nexus S (using the latest nightly CM9 Crespo Nightly) L2TP/IPsec works.
On my Touchpad (using the latest CM9 Tenderloin nightly) it does not work.
My VPN is provided through StrongVPN.
I do NOT have OpenVPN service
OpenVPN is a protocol (just like L2TP/IPSEC and PPTP), not a service. And yes, using L2TP and PPTP both don't work for these ROMs. I also wish some of the powers that be would address this. I am still hoping that they take pitty on us sooner or later.
You can also connect to StrongVPN using OpenVPN protocol. It is just a little more work the first time you install it. Ask StrongVPN for the keys and server lists (there is a direct link for StrongVPN in post 3) and then set up using OpenVPN protocol according to the guide I linked to in the the first post.
I think we are misunderstanding.
I pay StrongVPN for PPTP and L2TP Services. It works on CM9 on my NexusS.
(I don't quite understand why it doesn't work on the TP, unless there is a fork before fixing the VPN protocols, which doesn't make much sense why it wouldn't be the same across the ROMs)
StrongVPN charges more for their OpenVPN service. I don't get that service under my current account.
Ah, now I understand why you don't want to use OpenVPN. HideMyAss charges me the same for all versions. But apparently, on the TouchPad using ICS, you can ONLY use OpenVPN. Unless someone fixes it. This problem has been known for months, the only thing you can do (except wait) is try all the different ROMs to see if any of them work.
I can't remember how,but i make my incredible S successfully connect to a vpn, just for one day...!six days after adding it!
Since earlier this week, google chrome has been almost unusable. I'm on windows 7, using chrome dev 19. It all started when I put chrome portable on a flash drive so I could use it at school. I would try to use it but it would eventually freeze up and suddenly close. At the time I figured it was just because of the schools strict software policy, but then the same thing started to happen at home. It closes without error and just asks if I want to restart. I tried reinstalling it to no avail. I also updated Shockwave flash. What can I do?

Try going through any extensions you may have installed one by one (meaning disable all of them then reenable them one by one until they are all reinstalled. If that doesn't fix it...uninstall Chrome completely and reinstall a different version than the Dev channel. Try Beta for awhile.
It may just be a bad update in the Dev channel....
It happened to me on my Chromebook.
Google record released a bad update to the Dev channel and my cr-48 became almost unusable until I booted a different version from a flash drive.
Wasn't me!! I didn't do it!
Yeah thanks it does seem to actually run with the extensions disabled. I will try the beta channel

I have Samsung Captivate with stock firmware, not rooted. I did upgrade when I noticed newer version of android was available, since then phone has been acting up. Battary consumption has gone up, I used to charge every other day, now I am forced to charge it every day.
Major problem I am noticing is active synch is broken. I had established connection with my work account long time before upgrade and it was working great. After upgrade, I can no longer connect to my work server. Tried deleting the account and adding it back again. IMAP works - and I can get emails, but it does not put the entries in calendar which active synch used to do.
One of the applications that I used to use frequently was TV.com which seems to be broken after the upgrade. Application does come up and allows me to select the show, but after that it just crashes. Again, it used to work perfectly and I have watched numerous shows on the phone.
Any help with these issues is greatly appreciated.

if you want to go back to froyo then download any Odin one click package for froyo and flash it in download mode through your computer
and if you want to remain in gb then flash any cm from with cwm recovery
A factory reset will almost certainly solve your battery issue, with the downside being that you will lose everything you have on your phone when you do it. This seems to be a common issue after the upgrade.
As far as active sync is concerned, I have this issue as well when both the 3g and wifi icons are showing. If both are there, it won't connect. If one or the other is there, it works fine. As far as I can tell, apps turn 3g on for location purposes, but it doesn't get turned back off properly. Foursquare was by far the biggest offender for me (so much so that I uninstalled it) but Facebook also does it to a much lesser extent. I don't know if this relates to your problem or not, but may be worth checking out.
