I’m happy and proud to announce that GPS Calculator PRO (that so many people on this forum helped me test and translate) is finally released to Windows Phone marketplace (with an equivalent update to GPS Calculator currently pending). GPS Calculator PRO is a major update to GPS Calculator taking this most advance GPS calculations to a completely new level into a powerful and free GPS data toolkit. New version includes 8 new features and improvements, including:
1. Trip computer and track recoding.
2. Import/export via SkyDrive.
3. GPS Elevation profile.
4. Moonset/moonrise.
And
5. Kalman filter for elevation correction.
More than that, there is already another version currently in beta testing and this new version will introduce another dozen of features, including: export to KML and even HTML (similar to this: Goldmyer via Snow Lake), navigation using compass, new design and a lot more! So please stay tuned. I thank you for you support and hope for comments here and on the marketplace. Trial is free and unlimited.

Thank you for trying it out! I'm not sure if I'm reading your question correctly, but
1. If you record the track you can export it to your skydrive in GPX format using the app. GPX format is understood by almost every mapping software, including free google earth. You can use google earth to overlay it.
2. Yes, maps are online only.

I believe you understand my question. My question has been solve.Any difference between paid and trial?

Only one - in free version skydrive import/export buttons are disabled.

If we buy the apps, are we going to have to buy again once the new one has been release?

Do you mean updates? If you buy something in wp7 marketplace you bought it for life - every update to the app will be free forever.

Is there any other kind of payment besides credit card that Zune use?

My understanding that people on cell phone contracts have an option to have their app purchases added to their provider bill.

I was using my PC yesterday. When. I try and buy one of the apps. Anyway thanks for answering my question.

Sorry to say that it still ask for credit card when I try to purchase apps from the marketplace maybe my country doesn't support other than credit card.

in france only Orange contracts offering to add your marketplace purchases to your monthly bill...seems that credit card is the main thing for microsoft!
would be awesome to have a paypal option but i won't dream...
btw...GPS Calculator PRO worth every penny asked for!! (mainly if you mind all updates brung by kitya)

I even call my TelCo regarding this issue and they said they don't support Windows apps/Google apps billing to our account. It means that I need a credit card.

I hope that in your next update can you apply it running on background so that we can do other things besides running the apps. Just a suggestion.

Seriously, I'm about to give and sell this thing...

I can't, no matter what I do, get a decent offnetwork maps program to use with gps location. I had andnav2 working using trekbuddy tiles created in the andnav format and ever since I used the rom (not a cooked rom) I can't seem to do anything correctly. Andnav2 will no longer recognize the tiles I create for it...for some reason the gps consistently, no matter which program I am using, believes I am still at home when I not. I can't find a decent media player that allows me to fastforward aside from MXzing lite but that is constantly trying to use the gps, which is fine if I disable it. My main problem though is the offline maps thing I mentioned above. I just can't get it to work, anymore. Is there ANYONE that is using an offline maps program that allows gps tracking? I don't care about turn by turn nav...I care about having offline maps that will show me my gps location and follow me; which I as I said worked when I first tried but I can't repeat what I've done and the only difference I can see is the new rom. I guess I'll wipe and try the old rom but if I can't use the new rom and have andnav2 work (or any GPS app that will show accurate data) then I give up and will sell the phone to some one on this board....seriously, this shouldn't be this much of a headache when it wasn't before.
CoPilot 8 Live - Perfect - as good if not better than TomTom and much better value for money. Also will move devices with you provided you are still on Android and ask CoPilot to change the codes to link with new device (They did this for me no worries after I swapped my handset) No network needed, and maps stay on SD card. Worth the money.

I 2nd Copilot! IT is really good, and what the android desperatly needed!
can I download entire maptiles for the US and use them offline (no wifi no data plan) and have the gps pin point my location on the offline maps? As I said, andnav was doing this (for free) but now I can't get it to cooperate at all and the developer has abandoned the project. I'm also looking for a decent media player and I thought mxzing would be it until I found that it autoloads at start and constantly accessing the gps for some reason.
I 3rd co-pilot.
A good media player is Meridian Evolve.
I am using Rmaps and I made my own maps using TrekBuddy Atlas Creator.
It is working great and I have the GPS following me very precisely.
But of course it is not a navigation system like CoPilot. It is just an offline map and it is free.
I would go for http://www.sygic.com/index.php/en/android.html when i have some money
You can of course try out CoPilot as with any software from the market an d get an immediate refund if you don't like within 24 hours. Recent copilot update has great improvements including qwerty keyboard!!
I'd say try it out and if its not doing what you want, sell your android. we won't cry.....
I'd love to get Sygic when they include Malaysia into the maps.
IMHO Tomtom is still the best there is.
However both CoPilot 8 and nDrive are both very very good alternatives and both are available for Android from what I've seen/heard.
Tom Tom is good, but you pay a premium for a little extra over the rest. CoPilot IMO is just as good but 1/3 of the price. go figure.
And yes you download the entire maptile pack and use it offline.
Thanks for the suggestions....with a huge sigh of relief after weeks of testing and search, rmaps and meridian are the solutions I needed and thanks to this thread I now have some good alternatives for turn by turn. I have no idea how I missed these two apps in my hours of searching the market but whatever, my torture is over now

I think the one decent person you spoke to at ALK must have left; I've tried to contact them to do this numerous times now and have simply given up on them ever calling / emailing me back. I would not reccomend the product if you expect any kind of customer service from them.
A quick google search shows I'm not the only one fed up with them for precisely this reason, moreover, I don't believe they make it clear at the outset that you cannot transfer the product between devices without doing through them - it's made extremely clear that's the case in the minmo version but not the android one
wher can i dl the capilot application??
thx
google for copilot, or search in the market.

A Top 100 Android Freeware List

Hey there,
I have tried to gather the best freeware applications Android has to offer, with descriptions, links back to the developer's websites and QR codes that leads directly to the Market. It's about a 100 apps divided in various categories.
I'm curious what you guys think of the guide? Would your Top 100 list differ a lot from mine? I hope some of you will have use for it!
Here's the URL if you want to check it out:
The Ever-Growing List of Awesome Android Applications
If you can think of any more applications that should be on the list, please let me know
Thanks
-- Lars
As a new Hero-user (on my third week now), I must say one thing: Thank you so much!! =)
Thanks! Glad someone liked it, at least
A bunch of new apps have been added to the collection, and if anyone knows of a great app that's not included - please let me know.
Nice work!
There's a quite a few top lists, and some are better than others, both in content and layout, but I always discover some new apps worth checking out. I very much like that the entire list is visible on one page, with short descriptions.
Would like to point out that Think Android's AppManager (both free and pro versions) has been renamed to AppMonster.

The creators of the app announced the name change on their website: http://think-android.com
"App Manager" has been renamed to "AppMonster" in market a while ago now (but it depends on what country you're in). If I search for App Manager it only shows apps with similar names, not the app by Think Android.
Androlib now only shows AppMonster in some -not all- non-English markets, namely Chinese, Czech, Italian, Japanese, Russian. And even then in some markets only the Pro and in some only the Free versions. I think Androlib is not that up to date.
http://www.androlib.com/r.aspx?r=appmonster
AppBrain correctly shows the app as "AppMonster": http://www.appbrain.com/search?q=appmonster
Far too much use of the word "awesome", but a nice list, thanks for your efforts.

You're right. I was tricked by AndroLib.com, initially, since it didn't show any results for AppMonster when I did a search.
@knightnz I try to use the word "awesome" with caution, but I like to alliterate
I've added a new section to the guide with the top free Android live wallpapers
Did I fail to include any good ones?
Apologies for my criticism, but a pure list is not so useful in my opinion; I mean, there's Google for that.
It would be much more useful if this was a ranking, where users can vote their best 10 apps, for example.
Super great lists. Few worthy ones:
1) ColorDict: Universal dictionary reader for Wordnet, data downloaded to local memory (SD Card) for offline view
2) RealCalc: Best replacement calculator
3) Uninstaller: to uninstall apps. Phone's manage application way too slow
4) KeePassDroid: android keepass for storing logins and passwords. If setup with Dropbox or sugarsync, then can sync between phone and computer.
5) Call History: detail call logs better than what 1.5 offer with ability to back up.
6) Moto Phone Portal : access phone by wifi in same network using browser. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=574677
7) xScope GL : Another web browser with much better functionality. Free version limited to number of favs.
8) Skyfire beta : surprisingly fast enough and only option available to view web based videos until Flash 10 lands.
Did I miss K9 or it's not on the list???
Hi again,
I've done some major updates to the Android apps guide, and it now includes all the top widgets and live wallpapers as well. I've also removed some outdated software, and added blue borders to the very best applications so they're easier to spot.
All apps, widgets and live wallpapers are free
Cheers

looks nice. I wonder how it will compare to the free pageonce personal finance.
I do like the paid with wallet thing though. pageonce cant do that.
Well, not sure if Pageonce focuses on budgeting, its more like a mobile interface of your bank info.
moBudget focuses on budgeting and in helping you to stick to it and optimize it through usage. moBudget does predictions and estimations. It will also alert, remind, set recurrings and etc, but all depends on the data you input.
Pageonce is a free app that connects to pageonce.com server, has it reasons to be free... (http://www.pageonce.com/advertisers)
moBudget stores all information on the device(will have password protection btw), no network transfering/sharing with any server, and of course no ads.
Another thing about Pageonce is that only works for US based banks if you want all the syncing options.
Any idea on ETA? This desperately needed and I will purchase immediately. If you need some feedback I can sideload it for you?
Currently have to keep my backflip around to use the check book I have on it.
Thanks
Talked to the dev guys and say it will be around Dec 15th.
A XAP for beta test side loading could be... I'll update on this.

Cool I look forward to it, if you end up posting the XAP I have no problem testing the app for a week or so then report back any bugs I find.
yea, definitely can run the crap out of it for a couple of days and let you know how its coming.
Don't suppose there's any hope of adding in the ability to import and export Quicken files?
I really miss Pocket Quicken for keeping track of my checking account balance and would be willing to purchase an application which I could import/export or (better yet) sync with Quicken...
Import/export might come in the future. The positive side is that we are on the last month of the year, so for those thinking on changing the way they track their finance could be worth to make a clean start on 2011

I was going to ask yesterday when will it release and then today and in the morning, saw an google ad on wmpoweruser.com
using the trial atm.
Version 1.4 has been released and much more stable than 1.0

MoBudget WM 6.5.X?
How far off do you suppose WM 6.5.X is? The WP7 site states that it's coming 'soon': is it still in the works?
Thanks!
The release of WM6 has been delayed due to some issues raised on the WP7 version. It is finally becoming stable and all improvements will come as well for WM6. Will be released ending February.

[APP] Next2Me for Windows Phone 7

Hi Guyz,
Perhaps you all know Next2Me for the Windows Mobile 6.x OS. This app was quite successfull (one of the 10 most downloaded apps in the Marketplace) and also here at XDA-Developers, quite many people liked my tiny app. If you don't know it, here is the link to the corresponding thread: http://xda-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=619329
So, why am I writing here? Because Next2Me v1.0 has been released in the Marketplace. You can find it here.
Next2Me will be devided into a free and payed version. The free version will show a small ad at the top of the main window. The payed version won't show this. Also the payed version will received new features before the free one and some features will be in the payed version only. But the core element of Next2Me, the local search, will stay free.
But, If you'll buy Next2Me (I am planning to sell it for 99Cent), you will not just get rid of the ad and get some unique features, you will also support me and my dev projects .
Current feature list of Next2Me
o Location based business search using Google Local Search, Yahoo and Wikipedia
o Over 30 key words and a free text search
o Show a map overview with all found businesses
o Show detailed information (address, phone numbers, etc.)
o Let you add the infos to the contact list, forward the contact by E-Mail or SMS or call the found phone number right from Next2Me
o Show your position and the target contact on a map and the route to the target
o Give you a directions to guide you to the target
o Send your own location by SMS or E-Mail (including a link to openstreetmaps with your current location)
So, as you can see, the software is quite envolved by now.
What features will also be implemented:
o Support different local search providers (Bing, Yelp?)
If you are still missing any features, THIS is your chance! Post your feature wish or suggestion in our development thread here, let's discuss about it and perhaps it will be implemented !

Just downloaded and tried this, looks pretty good. There are no local Bing results for my country but the Google results are excellent, so an app like this is essential.
Is it possible for your app to use App Connect to display search results directly from Bing Search? I believe the OpenTable app can do something similar, but OpenTable isn't available for my region so I can't try it out.
Thanks for all the hard work

Next thing I am going to do is to add Bing Local Search and Yelp to the search providers. I'll also release the paid version of Next2Me (79Cent) which will be without the ad but will get a lot of more features in the future.
Thanks for the hint with App Connect! I'll definitly have a look on that!

The app should save all the details of a place when it is added to contacts including Name, Location And Maps. As of now it only saves Phone number.
Rest of things are awesome, much better than what Bing finds. I have done a review at wpxbox.com

Thanks for your reply and thanks for your review ! I am glad to hear people like my app !
Just one thing: Next2Me was initially developed for the WP 7.0 SDK which didn't allow to add more info to a new contact than the phone number. But I already integrated the new SDK, so the next release will save much more data than now (name, address, etc..). But: the location cannot be added to the contact book, unfortunatelly.
If you have any other suggestions, don't hesitate to write me !

How about an Option ?
Hey Thanks for getting this here.
is it possible that you can give an option indirectly so one can select and add ?
I am not a developer so I cannot say much. But if you can just give a copy option so I can paste it to the contact Location detail, it should do the job.

I am going to use the notes field of a contact to save the position data. I know that a contact can have position information, but there is no way set this info using the API, so I will have to use the notes field.
Another thing: Yesterday I implemented the Bing Local Search as a new search provider, so the next release of Next2Me will include it . I already sent it to the certification process, and also Next2Me+, which will be the paid Next2Me. Next2Me+ will be ad free and will get more features and some exclusive features. The common Next2Me will stay for free of course.

[WP8] PassPro Free v.1.1.2.64

Hello everyone.
I've just published my first official Windows Phone 8 app called PassPro Free. It's ad supported, but it's possible to get rid of the ads through IAP (In-App-Purchase) for a cost of 99¢.
I'd really want some feedback about it so anyone using Windows Phone 8 are very welcome to download the trial, or purchase it to show me some appreciation
The app should be available on all markets officially supported.
It's a smooth app for storing account information on your device, with SkyDrive backup implemented. Also features a PIN upon opening the app, and also encryption if you dont want to be able to edit your data stored to SkyDrive.
It's available at this link so make sure you at least check it out
Any reviews/feedback is highly welcome and I will update it with bug fixes when necessary.
Regards
Izaac
Coming features
A big update is planned, and some of the features are:
Context Menu on all the accounts (ironing out some kinks) - Done!
A full UI overhaul to make the whole app easier to use - Done!
Improved syncing, including possibility to sync to DropBox instead of SkyDrive
...more to come...
