Hi Everyone,
I see many rooting methods posted for Droid 3. I have a Bell Canada XT860 with the following info:
System Version: 5.2.476.XT860.BellMobility.en.CA
Model Number: XT860
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseban Version: U_03.3B.01P
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-g9f70789......
Build Number: 5.5.1-112_SLU-47.6M
I am very acquinted with Linux so even this might work for me: http://vulnfactory.org/blog/2011/08/25/rooting-the-droid-3/ ???? But I don't know.
I would really appreciate if someone can point me to the right direction of rooting for this Canadian version.
Thanks a bunch
Hi
Just rooted my bell xt860 (on stock 2.3.6) using SuperOneClick 2.3.3 on auto. It auto selected the zergrush exploit and it worked well.
Thanks for confirmation LaZiODROID.
Can you please post the link to SuperClick?
I just used ZergRush but it fails saying as it get's stuck.
Thanks 2.3.3 worked for me
I used zergrush. Turn on USB debugging and switch USB to none and unplug then plug it in again is what worked for me

Are you actually saying it worked for you with bell vibrant on UGJL2 with 2.6.32.9 kernel?
SuperOneClick works on most phones and most versions... z4root doesn't work on new firmwares.
UGJL2 Z24 will not work , SuperOneClick works though.
z4root worked on my froyo
I got mine to work. Issue was with bloody win 7. Tried.it on XP and got rooted on the first try.

Hi all,
Well I was able to install a stock UK Gingerbread ROM, but now that I have the phone function enabled, I need to unlock my TAB and would like instructions. Here are the specs that I have:
Model number: GT-P1000 (Originally Bell)
Firmware: 2.3.3
Baseband: P1000XXJPZ
Kernel: 2.6.35.7
[email protected]2 #2
Build: GINGERBREAD.XXJQ1
I also noted that my SGT is not rooted. Am I able to root it? I tried with z4root, but it seems it doesn't work with Gingerbread.
In the end I would love to install Overcome.
Thanks for your help.
Bruno
To root it you need odin and c4 root
To install overcome Jupiter(for gingerbread). Try this site:

c4root doesn't seem to work on gingerbread 2.3.3...
Any way to unlock it?
Thanks.
you need to be rooted
i think you need to back to stock froyo and then root it , use Unlock Galaxy S from the market and this free app will do the trick for you , and then flash stock gingerbread
and then you can flash anything u want ............
use superoneclick for rooting froyo stock
None of those things already posted will root gingerbread. On top of your stock rom (is it UK or Spain?), flash the CF-Root v3.3 kernel. The file goes in the PDA line of Odin (I hope you can use that program, because it can't be done through keis).

UK ROM...Thanks.

Amazing!! Thanks ranger captain! Used CF-Root v3.3 to root SGT UK ROM using Odin3 v1.7 on Win 7 64, then unlocked with SGS Unlock Pro (5$ on Android Market).
Now rooted and unlocked using Rogers Sim (initially a Bell Tab).
Sweet!!
You are welcome. Glad you got it done. You will never have to unlock it again, but you might have toroot it again when you upgrade the rom, so remember what you did.
Just got my bell gt yesterday and upgrade to gingerbread right away and it is working great. And then Learned that i can enable phone on this thing. I am wondering if it is still possible to follow the guide to enable phone after upgrading to gingerbread.

Model: GT-I9000T
Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: I9000TUBJG7
Kernel Version: 2.6.29
[email protected] #2
Build Number: ECLAIR.UBJG5
S: the question is simple:
Can firmware for GT-I9000 also work for the GT-I9000T?
I've been looking everywhere for firmware for my model but with no luck at all; I would like to root and update to jelly bean I live in the Caribbean( Trinidad and Tobago) and my carrier is Bmobile. Doing a general and vague google search of the GT-I9000T doesn't even pull up much useful information. All I got from wikipedia is that it is the GT-I9000T is "identical" to the GT-I9000 in terms of form factory. Apparently one supports 850MHz 3G while the other supports 900MHz 3G.
I would have been okay with using Gingerbread by updating my phone on Kies but that horrible abomination won't even recognize my phone. I've tried trouble shooting on 3 different computers with no luck. Would I brick my phone if I used rooting and updating methods intended for GT-I9000
