Need help.
My optimus 2x seem to be bricked.
nothing shown at the screen. (just blank)
i can't enter the cwm.
smartflash also cannot detect my phone.
I try to use nvflash but it stuck at "waiting for bootloader to initialize"
anything i can do to revive my phone ?
or is it totally bricked ?
Hi,
Congratz for being the first person I ever read on o2x thread whom actually 'succesfully' bricked his phone. I've been here since o2x thread was born..alot of ppl use the term 'bricked' loosely but hasn't actually really bricked their phones.
If you lost ADB, Fastboot, unable to Nvflash/Smartflash... your phone is, sad to say, gone.
Anyway, I really hope you can share what you did to eventually get into this state, atleast you can help others to prevent bricking their o2x.
Thanks.
Well congratz, now move to something that is properly supported

Haha.
can I get medal for this "achievement" ?
I bought it as faulty phone around usd 16. so I don't know what happen to it.
Ouh...usd16.. pretty useful for spare parts.
If you bought it for 16 dollars then I would advise you to sell the phone for spare parts. Even the glass costs 20 or more dollars.

hmmmm, dudes, idk if im right buuuuuuuuuut... happened to me, i thought it was completelt dead, when after all i found out that my pc didnt recognise my lg o2x as an apx platform so it would always fail, sooooo, i did it on my sisters pc which never had lg drivers and i resurected my phone id advise to try it...
---------- Post added at 11:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:35 PM ----------
ohhh, long story short and translated, if you have ever installed lg drivers on your pc, forget about it being recognised as an apx platform, even if you uninstall all lg software
1.From PC,manually place Stock LG Rom(V20Q.zip or [?]) on Your SD card then reinsert in phone.
2.Don't connect phone to PC or power (AC)
3.pull the battery out and reinsert it( now connect power (AC)
Hold the Volume Down button (keep pressed!!) then press and hold the Power button until the device turns on and you see the recovery menu
4.then proceed as you normally would meaning install .zip from SD card
Hope it helps

Yes,I read that, But neither would mine after using ext3 converter without backup!
So after eating a big bowl of "BOOTLOOPS" I utilized the phones hard reset mode thinking It would lead to a factory reset but instead got the CWM recovery menu
after which I flashed and Voila 0_0
Also "DUDE" at least I'm trying to offer help instead of joking about such a serious concern...I guess... well only maybe when it's your phone and you have no answers<---this looks better

You should really read again OP, it can't load bootloader.. So it can't boot to anything as bootloader is the essential part of the phone that loads after either recovery partition, or /boot Android one.

Just to check: are you sure to boot the phone in Apx mode? Battery off, volume up pressed, then plug AC ?

Once again, I know and understand!!!!!
New to LG but not to how this process works so please stop with the "Dear N00B"

I was only offering a suggestion that maybe wasn't tried even if proven futile!
also, for the most part, the days of "bricks" are pretty much over so there is always the slimmest possibility for hope. Wouldn't you exhaust every possibility....
Anyway, enough said on this I hope that he finds a solution
hi there,
N00B here...i had this kind of problem too...my laptop still recognize it as nvidia bootloader for mobile device AKA APX driver, but it never flashed in the nvflash way...
holding volume down and insert charging cord also give me nothing...

Made it through the first few steps well, until i finally began to upgrade the image dreaimg or w,e.. It failed on me & now i cannot leave the screen. I remove the battery & turn it on. but when i do it stays in the same spot.. I tried everything & need some help.. ]:
Here is a pic of the screen.. : http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/4355/picture001bk.jpg
Did it start updating, then stop in the middle of it? Did the phone turn off due to running out of battery during the flash? Did you format your card to FAT32, download the proper RC for the original sale location of your phone?
Try pulling the battery at, then removing your SD card, do a long format to FAT32 (whether it is or not) copy the dreamimg.nbh onto the SD card, put the SD card back in the phone, put the battery back in, put it on a charger not turned on for 30 minutes, then take it off the charger...
Now that you have done all that, try booting into boot loader again by holding down the camera and power button until it goes into that screen again and does it's thing.
If this doesn't work, well, good luck since I have no idea from there.
Yes i've tried all of that.. Once i remove my battery it turns on, but as soon as i put it on again it turns on & the same screen appears.. There nothing i can do to go back to the Home screen.. D':

That screen is the only thing that ever appears on my phone.. ]:I cant take that screen away like i want too.. So it appears instead of the G1 screen..
If that is the only screen that ever shows up, you very well may be bricked, I hate to say it.
It really sounds like during your flashing of the .nbh file it was disrupted for one reason or another, either the battery died or it was a corrupted file, so the only file left on the phone is the boot loader. Thus, it is the only thing that will show...
Of course, I am not 100% positive without knowing exactly what you did, not being able to mess with the phone myself, and so forth.
Some people have been able to bring phones back from the dead by getting lucky and being able to get ADB to work... try plugging the phone into your computer using a data cable and see if you can get any sort of ADB to work, perhaps seeing if you can get the stock HTC update program to recognize the phone and hopefully flash it into working.

Agreed.
You should read up tutorials on ADB and see if you can use ADB to access your phone. If you can, your phone can still be recovered.
If not - then yeah, brick.

Hi all kind bros and sis,
Please help me out as I think I've really bricked my less than 2 months brand new Optimus 2X..
You see.. I rooted my P990 using unlock root and chanced upon CM7 and thought of giving it a try. I installed clockworkmod and downloaded the stable release of 7.1 for Optimus 2x.. following the instruction to do a Nandroid backup and proceeded with the Mod..
Not knowing that I need to wipe everything including data.. I just selected the Dalvik cache wipe and proceed with the mod. The process went for more than 15mins and I saw some graphics (the android figure going round and round) but it just stuck there... the screen went blank and when I touched those home or back buttons.. they will lighted but nothing happens. I can't power it off also. So I manually took out the battery and put it back before powering up again. The android picture appeared again briefly for about 1 min and just hanged there. I took out the battery again and this time it was dead.. no matter what I press : vol + and power buttons together; home+Vol+ + power down; Vol- + power down.. all those do not revive the phone.
I tried taking out the external SD card and try powering up. The LG logo appeared and got stuck there.
I searched on Google and found the smartflashtool. I tried that and managed to install the NVidia boot recovery driver and stuff correct. Hold the vol+ button and power key before plugging in but the smarttool did not find the com port or communication driver whatever so I couldn't flash it back to stock.
I'm very desperate and stuck now... did I just accidentally burned the board or something? What bad luck I have
If that's the case, will I still be able to bring the phone back to LG service centre and get it repaired?
Please help me.. any kind souls out there. I really liked the phone and hoped to bring it back. else it's such a shortlived phone... really breaks my heart to see this..
Thanks in advance...

Turn off the phone. Hold Vol-DOWN while plugging it in. Start Smartflash and see the com-ports magically appear.
Follow trymhansen's instructions. He helped me before with my softbricked phone.
I hope you get your O2X back to life! Keep us posted
Best of luck to you!
PS. I also believe you should pull out the battery after turning off the phone in Trym's instructions. Trym correct me if I'm wrong please.
Hi All,
Thanks for your kind replies. I did follow your instruction. Take out the battery (I removed the ext SDcard as well), press and hold -vol and plug in the phone via USB. Afterwhich start up smartflash tool.. still nothing happens and no com ports are found.. The version of smartflashtool that I used is Dec 2010. Do I need to get the latest one and also the LG united drivers installed?
I also tried starting smartflash tool before the sequence.. still the same. BTW.. my OS is Win 7. Is it supported?
Really at my end's wit. Hope I can bring my phone back to life soon and I'm not really bricking it. I heard Samsung phones are not that easy to brick and can get to the recovery mode pretty easily. is it true?
Please help me.. thanks
Hi bros,
Attached are my screenshots from the device manager and smartflash tool... both seems not able to find the phone and allocate a com port. I've tried installing the latest LG mobile driver 3.6 but no help as well
Have you followed instructions as described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070 ?
Also, try to attach your phone directly to computer, using usb ports from computer mainboard. I have experienced problems when attaching it via extension usb cord or attaching it to computer case ports. (I hope that you can understand what I have mean to say with usb )
Hi Memhis,
Yes.. I followed exactly the instructions from the thread and I've plugged into a USB port directly to the computer which is one of the ports in front.. not via any extension or USB hub.. still it did not detect.
I'll try to use another computer which is running Win XP and try again. I've downloaded those 3 files from that thread you recommended try using those instead.. hope it can be detected this time else I think I'll have to send to LG service for repair tomorrow.
I've been jailbreaking and modding my Iphone a lot and everytime whenever there's a near brick situation.. I'm able to fix it but not this time with an Android or LG perhaps... I hope I don't have to go to the extend of using ADB low level to push some files which I saw in one of the thread that one of the guys did that.. but I doubt I can since my windows can't even detect the phone!!
Maybe this will be my first and last LG phone if I ever get it repaired...

Hi mrgian,
I just tried to revive my phone by using the same method on a different laptop running on Win XP.. plugged directly to a side USB port but still no luck. There's no s/w updating logo appearing on my phone and smartflashtool also failed to detect my phone. I've found another thread opened by another user and my situation is exactly the same as his :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161583
But lucky for him is that he's able to get it working after changing to another PC but I've tried 3 different machines and no luck so far...
I'll try to use the NVflash as a last resort and see if I've any luck with NVflash at all.. If it failed again.. I think I've no choice but to send it to the repair centre for servicing then..

When you say an USB port in the front do you mean an USB in the back? Because the ones in front are the case ones, the ones in the back are the good ones, i.e. the ones that are directly attached to the mobo.

Not sure how I did it, but I am stuck at the Red LG logo with the white LG letters and my phone will go no further. It will not shut down without a battery pull. I have tried to do the hold down volume and factory reset the phone, same screen pops back up. Plugged in does nothing either. It is like it lost the ability to boot.
I ask here for maybe some guidance from a dev. If wrong place, please move it.
I can not get into the recovery, regular boot, computer to recognize it.. Nothing at all... Is there an actual boot image to put on the sd card to boot to?
Any suggestions??

1 Pull Battery

Hi,
I have a 1 month old HTC Vivid. It was running it on ICS 4.0.3 and it was rooted. Today, while I was working on it, it suddenly powered off and now it won't do anything. Like it doesn't display anything on the screen, doesn't get powered up and when I connect the charger, I can't even see the orange light. ITS TOTALLY F**KED UP!!!
Please Help!! Thanks!!
Can you boot into H-Boot?

I got the same problem. The phone did not work at all. It only flashed for a few seconds when I pressed the power button. I searched all the websites, but nothing worked. My solution is to send the phone to HTC to have it fix. They have a very good customer service.
With the charger plugged in, does the phone vibrate when the HOME, MENU, BACK, or SEARCH buttons are pressed?
Had a similar problem, for me HTC was the only solution, just say that it happened suddenly and dont mention anything about boot loader or roms.
Have you guys tried project UNBRICK yet? Search that on the forum here, as I can't post links yet.

Yes but it is a pain and takes several tries. I had this problem a few days ago and this was the only way I could get around it.
I HOPE YOU HAVE DATA BACKED UP! That's your responsibility and not mine. If this ruins your phone then tough. I will not be held responsible for a bricked phone...
First off, assuming the bootloader is UNLOCKED, install the ALL IN ONE tool on your computer (it actually runs from a folder and doesn't really install which is good)...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498003
Open it, then...
Remove any bought protective case (it may mess with the buttons).
Unplug charger.
Remove battery.
Wait 5 minutes.
Reinstall battery.
Plug in USB cable from the computer.
Hold down the VOLUME DOWN button and then the POWER button.
It should boot into the bootloader. On the ALL IN ONE tool, flash recovery to CWM. Once complete, click on "Boot into Recovery".
If the phone does not boot into Recovery, flash recovery to WCX.
If the phone reboots into Recovery, you will want to do a factory reset, wipe cache, go to mounts and format them all. Then mount it as USB and copy/paste a ROM over and flash to that ROM. I like Virtuous Inquisition v4.0.2.1.
Good luck.

Worked perfect - had to pull the kernel out of the ROM I used and flash it with the tool but it worked perfectly...
Im betting your screen might be toast, happened to my wife's vivid, completely just up and died one day for no reason. I haven't rooted yet and this sort of stuff makes me leary to do it.

EDIT: I have stopped looking for these threads. The more I look, the more I find. If the above threads don't convince you that there is a serious issue with the vivid, then adding more of the same problem will no longer help.
I have added this thread to a growing list of similar threads. Please read the other threads and see if your issues seem familiar.
From what I understand... Don't let your battery run out on this phone. Some Vivids kill batteries.
Solution? None yet.
1. Buy a new battery once a couple of months-ish, until someone figures out why some Vivids are eating batteries. YMMV
*OR*
2. You might invest in a external charger and see if that can bring the "Vivid munched" battery back to life. YMMV
I vote to thread merge the above threads if this proves to be the issue.
Switched from one provider to another, got a new phone which uses micro-sim, and couldnt get the p880 to read the new sim card, so I have been using the new phone, which is greatly inferior to the p880..
With the p880 just sitting around unused, i decided i might as well try to mod it, then get a regular sim card for it and start using it again. I think i killed it instead.
Before it died on me, I formatted / wiped / factory reset and then used the LG Mobile Support tool to upgrade to whatever the newest official release was.. 4.1.2??
At this point, here is what it can do:
1) When attempting to just turn it on and USE it as normal, it turns on, gets to the animated LG logo and stays there forever.
2) Power + Vol Down = OEM LG recovery menu
3) Power + Vol Up = Some kind of Restore graphic
4) Power + Vol Up and Down (AVX) = nothing
5) Plugged into USB with battery removed and holding Vol Down = home row LEDs light up, nothing else
Windows sees the phone as a "removable disk H:" when I plug it in, but the LG recovery software does not see it, and it also does not show up in the device manager..
At this point, all that I can seem to access is the "apply update from ADB" option to do an "adb sideload" command in recovery mode.. When I send over the root tool, the phone is happy. If I attempt to send anything else over via sideload, I always get kicked out of the process when it gets to the "verifying installation package" portion. I can wipe / factory reset to my heart's content, but I can get absolutely no further than this after attempting for about six hours yesterday.
Any hope for me or do i have a dope looking paperweight? Will providing you guys either the IMEI or S/N shed any light into a path to recovery?
Thanks for your time!
You have a booting rom, the device is not even close to hard brick. Is your bootloader unlocked? If yes you can flash a custom recovery with fastboot and install any rom you want.

thank you, speady.. it turned out to be the first solution that you suggested, which i had seen before during my scouring of these forums.. but the real basis of my problem was that i had my phone plugged into the front-facing USB port of my computer rather than the one directly connected to the motherboard (on the back).. i guess the phone wasnt getting enough juice out of the front port to boot to S/W Update mode.. i am back to stock LG software and am eventually going to mod to another ROM
THANK YOU!
