I made a bakcup with ROM manager but when I try to flash it, it says it doesn't have the neccesary permissions to do it. The rom is not root enabled by default, so I guess there's that.
I can't flash it through CWM because it just says "files not found". Any help?.
Our CM9 rom isn't rooted ? I'm sure it is, just check it...
How did you try to flash it ? Via backup or via flash zip ?

Both.
Which version of CWM Recovery do you run ?
I've experienced issues on Tantrums Touch Mod...
5.0.2.6
without root
As was mentioned before, you can't do a backup without Root Permissions.

No, HotFix1 should repair SU but it doesn't.
Well then, I guess I have to wait for the new fix. Thanks for the anwers!.
Just reboot in recovery and do the back up restoration from there.

I can't. You do know that CWM stands for "ClockworkMod" right? (which is the recovery mode).
EDIT: I managed to restore the backup with a different superuser fix. Look for it on the CM9 thread.
I do know what CWM stands for and that's why i did that suggestion. Even though the first build didn't have fully working SU it still had the option to reboot in recovery. When you choose reboot there was reboot and recovery option.
I just happened to do the very suggested thing myself .

Its in market...
Sent from my LG Optimus 2x using XDA Premium App
There's one problem with it (at least for me)
Trying to make a backup from inside ROM Manager reboots the phone, starts CWM but stops at the error: "Error mounting /system"...
Anyone got it working?
Just download it from the market. The recovery works fine.
Also getting "can't mount /system", so, guess it's kind of useless then.
I just tried a work-around for the "can't mount /system"-error ^^
I used this nice Easy Recovery Installation kit with Paul's CWM first version and now it works from inside ROM Manager!
Easy Recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042243
---
EDIT:
At least now we can use the automatic backup function of ROM Manager ^^
The only thing that bugs me is that you can't manage nor see the backups you made because ROM Manager looks on the internal "SD-Card"-Partition...
PS: I'm on MoDaCo Vanilla ROM posted on this forum... This one => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021803

EDIT
I think the best would be to use the "Manual Flash Override" Setting in the advanced MENU in ROM Manager (the popup one, by pressing the "Menu" button in the main screen of ROM Manager) and choose a ClockWorkMod version 3.x.x.x since Paul's CWM is 3.0.1.4 r1

Hi!
I just installed the ICS port Alpha 9 and now I can't acess recovery even though the changelog says it's fixed. Is my phone now bricked? I can boot and acess the sdcard but are the old recoverys possible to use with ICS.
So a possible solutions would be to move this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970842 app to the sdcard and install it but would that work???
Please answer!

How are you going to flash CWM if you don't have CWM?
I think you're looking for this or this
This thread is god http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153167
You will find everything you need that are essentials for rooting, recoveries and roms etc. Direct link to CWM for locked BL is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187363
It's a script you'll have to run from your PC. (Incase you were thinking it was a flashable zip)

nope thats not it, you can do flash it becuase you have already booted into it eg. boot into cwm flash new rom then while you are still in CWM you reflash the file to keep it, other wise if you reboot out of it from installing a new rom you loose cwm

Ah okay. I would then flash a custom recovery. You can access the bootloader correct? What method did you use to install the rom? Clean flash or wipe is when you erase all the phone's system files, leaving a blank slate for a new rom to be installed on, and should be done before installing a brand new rom to avoid any issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568662
This is the link to the recovery image I used, it's the latest clockwordmod touch recovery. Very easy to flash as long as you have fast boot setup correctly. Once you have a working recovery you should be able to try a re-flash.

I'm not sure, since you have tried to flash another rom, a factory reset might not solve the issue. Trying shouldn't brick the phone but I can't say for sure, sorry!

Could you send me a link to the rom you flashed? Try downloading a different rom. As you can't boot a ROM your only option may be to use ADB to push a new ROM onto your phone's storage.

It may have been a bad download. There isn't really any reason for it to not work, although it does say on the page it "You need TRWP 2.6.3.3 custom recovery!"
Not to worry, you can flash it in no-time. Ok so just as before, just flash a new recovery (again) and use the latest image from here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7/
This should allow you to install the rom as the developers intend. It is strange though, i've never encountered a rom where a specific recovery was needed.

Try to use CWM recovery from CoCore Kernel and see if you can flash custom ROM's.
But make a backup in CWM of your stock ROM, because that one from TWRP don't work in CWM.

Hmm, now you have custom recovery.
Enter in recovery, and if choose backup to sdcard1., and wit until finish that operation and receive message "backup complete".
Then, if you already have downloaded ROM and GApps, make wipe cache and dalvik and do a wipe of data/factory reset (be sure you have already backed up your apps with some backup app like Titanium Backup or other), go to install zip, choose zip from external card and proceed to flash, first ROM after that GApps.
