my god so problems! I did the update but now the screen is not the drawing below where android says Cyanogen 9 and not beyond this stage. What should I do? help me people. the rom is cyanmobile
Do a clean install... go to cwm, mounts and storage>format /system, go back to main menu, wipe data-factory reset. Go to advanced, wipe dalvik cache. Install rom, and when its finished wipe data-factory reset again, reboot device. Note that you'll lose all data stored in internal memory (messages, contacts, apps...) and please tell me if it worked after you do this
yes yes it working, thanks! already now you can tell me something about this "E: error in / cache / recovery / log" underneath it says "no space on device" will be that this has to do with it? tanks bro

there is no problem
cache is fully filled with files and no space left so recovery cannot paste the log of flashing

Its very possible that low internal space caused that problem.

When I am out in CWM recovery and go to wipe Dalvik Cache it says E:Info is WRONG all the time.
I have flashed a new firmware with odin , repartitioned and everything and still this error will not go away. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks
dalvik cache still clears.
working as intended.
error shows because your external sdcard is unpartitioned.

It just takes time to clear the cache, leave it aside and it'll eventually complete after some time! It's completely normal and is no problem. And for the errors, they are too normal and just log errors. Don't worry!

I cleared it, after looking through the log, the ROm i had flashed had corrupted the cache... ,
So i flashed a new Rom and it worked fine and was able to refix the permissions and clear the cache , the errors are gone
Hello.
first I want to apologize for my, sometimes, bad English!
Second, i want to apologize for my novice touch in this topic!
The story:
I've been using SweetRom for a while, but tonight i wanted to try another rom.
I loaded up SuperBean(not really relevant to this story) on a microSD.
Rebooted my phone into recovery
Philz Touch 5
I choose "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" and then "Clean to install a new rom"
Then i tried to "install zip"
"Choose zip from sdcard"
But then i get: E:Can't Mount /sdcard/
I've tried to format the sdcard, exfat, fat, fat32, ntsf but nothing worked, still the same error.
I can access the internal storage and i can boot into download.
I thought that maybe i'll try to install the newest Philz but when in download mode
my computer wont recognize my phone (i'm using Windows 8)
i'm stuck! please help me out!
I've searched everywhere for answers but i can't find any!
What are my options?
Boot into Philz recovery again and go to mounts and storage and mount USB. Then connect it to pc. Check if the any drive shows up. Then move the new rom to the internal storage.

what DOES the "clean to install a new rom" option do anyway?

It does a full wipe. Basically it formats: cache, /system, /preload, /data

is /preload equivalent to /dalvik-cache? but then what's the point of format /data/factory restore if "clean to install new rom" is present?
No. It's different. Preload is a separate partition and dalvik-cache is in data partition.
The option you mentioned only exists in Philz recovery not in standard cwms

So, to be clear, is it necessary or advisable to do any of 'Wipe Data/Factory Reset', 'Wipe Cache Partition' and 'Wipe Dalvik Cache'? Or is 'Clean to Install a New ROM' merely an amalgam of the above (plus added formats?)?
Thanks
It's usually not necessary but it is ALWAYS advised to format /data /preload /system and cache before flashing a new ROM. If you don't do those wipes then you can sometimes end in a bootloop, random force closes, battery and performance issues et cetera. Basically if yoou want to flash a new ROM (unless it is an update to your current ROM) then always do a full wipe,
If you are just updating your ROM (ex. updating one nightly to another) then you just have to flash the ROM in recovery and wipe cache, dalvik cache (in advanced)
.

Thanks very much for that - much appreciated.
I've read elsewhere that many seem to recommend wiping cache and dalvik after they've flashed a ROM? Is this something you'd advise and, if so, why (or not!)?
Many thanks

If you're updating then yes, it's enough that you flash the ROM and then wipe cache and dalvik cache.
If you're reflashing from start then you should first do a full wipe, flash the ROM, gapps, su and that is all. No need to wipe the cache or dalvik cache again

Ah right. So if you're flashing a new ROM - then clean install is all that's necessary. If upgrading to a newer version of existing ROM, then it's better to wipe cache and dalvik post-install? Why? What does it do and how does it help?
Cheers
reset before installing zip, now no super su ... cannot mount usb
Hi,
The title says it all. I have been reading and searching. Many similar stories. I apologise if this is in the wrong place but this is very similar to my problem.
I have a galaxy i9505 trying to install a DjeMBeY ROM from TWRP.
I factory reset and wiped cache's BEFORE I flashed the .zip file so then had no .zip file to flash!
Also have erased my system backup and the USB WILL NOT SEEM TO MOUNT to copy it back onto the card.
I have read and read I am very struck.
I am not familiar with all the processes yet. Please help.
i recommend going to here
Similar prob

You can go with the download mode and install a stock ROM or use the 'adb sideload " feature of cwm recovery to install the zip of your ROM if you have it saved on your PC.

Thanks! i went with download mode, then installed a stock rom, i had to root again and flash philz touch and install xtrestolite and now everything is ok!
an annoying message "android.process.acore has stopped " appears repeatedly whenever I try to open dialing program ,
I googled the problem , tried solutions like clearing "Contacts" and "Contacts Storage" Cache and data , no luck.
tried to do a factory reset from settings > reset/backup , after rebooting I noticed that nothing happened all of my apps and settings are still there.
tried also flashing the CM 10.2 again from the recovery after wiping cache and wiping data and dalvik , the recovery succeeded but after rebooting nothing changes, all of my apps and settings are still there another time .
I tried also settings > apps > all > contacts storage > disable , the error stops appearing but I can't use my contacts and dialing programs .
Please help.

i think that there i something wrong , as I first made a factory reset from the settings , wait until reboot , nothing happened afterwards , it is like no factory reset was made
if any body know why?
That is really wierd. I don't know which recovery you have, CWM or TWRP. In CWM you can in "mounts and storage" format data, cache and system partition. You should try that, if it doesn't help try reflashing stock ROM and then back to custom ROM.

Did you tried this tutorial?

I formatted again but added the internal storage "internal SD card" to the format list , when I booted the phone stops at LG logo .....
then I thought that my phone is bricked
but I borrowed an SD Card from a friend , copied the Cyanogen mod 10.1.2 to it ...
then flashed the ROM ..............
Everything is normal now ....
thanks for your responses

Do this-
In twrp, under wipe, select advanced wipe. Check data and tap on repair or change file system. Then repair the file system.(This will wipe your internal storage!!) If that doesn't work, then under wipe, select format data.(This will also wipe internal storage)
See if this works.. If it works for data, then do the same for cache and any other partitions you have problems with. Wipe system also..

Flash the original firmware of your model using fastboot and then reinstall TWRP and your new ROM I had the same problem a month ago with another ROM and that works for me! Sorry for my bad english!
Sent from my Moto G 2014 using XDA Free mobile app
you can also boot temporary recovery on bootloader
just type in adb: fastboot boot NameOfTheRecoveryFile.img
it'll get you straight away
