[Q] Restarting your XXLPY - any issues? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys and girls with the official ICS, anyone tried restarting after initial reboot?
I tried last night after build prop change for wifi interval from 15 to 120 and got stuck at Samsung logo. just curious what could it have been.
Thanks

Ya know, I've had this happen to me as well, twice. And, if I'm not mistaken, I believe it was right after I edited the build.prop (I changed the wifi interval as well, among other things). Maybe we're on to something here?

[Q] It took around 2 seconds before screen awake

It took around 2 seconds before LG P970 screen awake, not sure whether this is phone issue or settings issue?
I use other phone, it only took 1 second to wake.
Any advice?
Thank you.
As sorry as i am, but i cant help you, this seems to be an issue sometimes... what software are you using? Stock or modified?

Phone does not wake up after ICS

Hey everyone,
I flashed ICS a few days ago and then a day or two later flashed rocket rom. I am not really sure if this problem happened before rocket or not.
My phone randomly "shuts off". Maybe it doesn't wake up, I don't know how to tell the difference. I have to either pull out the battery or do a hard reset sometimes.
Any suggestions as to what I should do? Go back to gingerbread? Or reinstall rocket? flash a different ROM (midnote, etc)?
Thanks everyone!

There is an app called Wake Lock or Keep Awake or something that won't let your phone get into deep sleep so it doesn't happen.
Had the same problem, I remembered from the HTC HD2 forums something about avoiding it by turning off auto-brightness.
After having 4 sleep of deaths in 3 hours, I had it once in 24 hours. Dunno if that's what affected it, but much better. Try it.
Kernel related. Flash a different one. Wipe cache and dalvik after kernel flash.
Some kernels are plagued by this problem because of kernel base used. Minor hardware changes in newer batches do not like the old kernel base.

So my fellow Australians. I don't know if like myself you experience the following anoying behaviour when loading pages on 3G/HSPDA. (using non-stock carrier provided rom AND modem)
Note: using a T branded rom seems to make no difference for me.
1. Big data Pages load a bit on H+
2. Pauses at some point. Sometimes for more than 5 seconds.
3. Network drops to 3G briefly then kicks back to H. Then finally H+ and the page loads quickly all in one go.
4. Annoyingly on the most data heavy pages in pauses AGAIN! just before it finishes loading.
I learnt a bit about TCP buffers and Kernel parameters that control them and came with this init.d script which, for me has MASSIVELY! improved the loading times on the browser by smoothing out the memory buffer.
Tested on Samsung JB leaks but should work on all Samsung roms... or not work but certainly not break anything.

Hope it helps guys!

So what exactly does this script change?
Will it work on Telstra? And what exactly does it do?
No harm in trying on Telstra. Just delete the init.d script if it's not good.
The script tweaks some TCP settings in /proc which change the memory buffers for HSPDA and other properties I found a good online tutorial and trial and error did the rest... have a look at the script!

Does this work for Vodafone UK??

Hey mate nice work. I have noticed when I flashed Omega v24 JB Rom or any JB Rom I loose my APN,s and when the phone first starts up after a fresh Flash, a pop up apears on my screen for about half a second and from what I glimpsed it said it couldn't get something from my Telstra network (Guess it is the APN,s it cant get). Is this because my Telstra GS3 is GT-I9300T and the JB Roms are cut from GT-I9300 that are not released in Aus yet? When I put my APN's in manualy I get my 3G/GSM internet back but Accu Weather cant find my location and FC's tried another Clock weather widget that I use all the Sense 4.0 style and it can't find my location (Auto or Manually no difference). So I flashed back to Omega v13.1 ICS and all is fine.Do you think your mod might help? PS. I also flashed Android Revolution HD 9.0.0 and flashed his Super Wipe script for a clean install thought it might help but no difference still no APN's.
Cheers - I will give it a go. Currently using Red Bull Mobile Australia which uses Vodafone.
I wonder if this has anything to do with Fast Dormancy as it really does sound like what it was invented for and happening due to your description, If so you might be able to turn it off with the FastDormancy Toggle for i9300 app on Play.
I've never noticed these connection problems on Optus but then again they don't support it but I think Voda/Telstra might since Telstra supports HD Voice while the others don't

Similar idea but more subtle. Keeping data flowing more e evenly was the goal. Specifically to eliminate the long pause and then big chunk download after

Can I install this for my Galaxy Note 2?
Should work. It's just an init.d script. Remove to disable

wifi issues

hi all my note has wifi issues every time i try to switch wifi on it thinks about it for a few mins and then switches off again. wifi used to work before stock ics update then it become intermitant it would work most of the time as long as the ram usage was kept down. i tried flashing ics again to see if that would help now it dosnt switch on at all ive tried the latest jellybean rom and even going back to gingerbread nothing works. does anyone have any ideas of things i can try before i buy a spares or repair note for a new main board.
thanks
What phone model do you have?

Hi its a GT-N7000 currently on ics 4.04

Break out. Wifi lags like crazy. 4g/3g works fine. Help?.

It doesn't seem to matter what kernel I'm using. When Trying to go to a site like google it will freeze up to 30 seconds before it starts to load But only on wifi. Anyway to fix this?. Thanks.
I think it has been that way for maybe a year, ever since the zv9 update last July. I've tried both stock zv9 and Broken Out multiple times during that time and both of them have had issues like that. I'm going to try one more time and only install a bare minimum of apps to prevent laggy behavior. Of course, it's not going to be a phone anymore, but a low power server (Servers Ultimate app).

A low powered server?. Hah techy.
now that kinda makes sense because I think my kernal was originally V8 when I checked it and it didn't do that before. Can we use a V8 kernel with break out?. Also do you know anyone that has one?.
Also if you do figure out how to stop it on that front please let me know.
Is a v8 kernel anywhere?. I would suppose it would be high sought after sense it didn't have this issue.
If you flash the zv8 TOT with LGNPST, you will have a stock zv8 kernel, but also stock ROM. I feel like mtmichaelson used the original Broken Out v1 thread and changed the OP and links when he updated it to zv9. I am not sure if BO 1 is there anymore. That would also be zv8. I don't recall anyone making a flashable zv8 kernel.

Coool. So this should fix the wifi?.
Not sure. I have had lag all around, not just on WiFi.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 2
Zvb has seemed to fix the data/WiFi lag. At least for me.

Via OTA? I'm not sure if my phone will be offered it now that it's no longer on one of my lines.

I will have a zip for zvb shortly. For some reason the home button broke. Gotta figure that one out. :banghead:
