[Q] Full root CF LPY? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have LPY running with the CF kernel which was flashed via mobile Odin. I have root access for programs like Titanium, but I cannot delete items from my system/apps folder. I use ES File Explorer with the options checked for root access and for rw on root. I figured it was just an issue with the kernel but I have been told that full root works for others. Does anybody have any thoughts as to how I could go about getting full root working? I want to delete that pesky GMS_Maps.apk so I can replace it with one with working navigation where I live. Thanks for any help!

Check the "Mounted as button" on top left of Root Explorer and make sure you can switch the system to R/W (read/Write)
It may default to Read/Only

I downloaded root explorer in case that was the issue. I click the rw button when I go into the system folder but no joy. When I press it, nothing happens. The state remains ro and the button remains rw.

Tried reinstalling cwm and su/busybox via cwm and still no dice. Thinking I might just have to live with it until another kernel comes out and I feel safer with all this installing zips in cwm. Still, if anyone has any thoughts, please let me know because it's a bit annoying to me.

It's not LPY, but I seem to have full root again after flashing the newest ics and installing su/busybox using the following:

Root explorer issues

I recent just bought a nook. flawlessly rooted it and overclocked it. Now I'm trying to do the adhoc fix using root explorer. However root explorer refuses to switch from read only to read and write. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and wiping data using titanium back up any suggestions other than adb

In Root Explorer, near the top just after the words "Mounted as r/o" there is a button to push (It says: "Mount R/W"). That will give you read & write access. It took me a while to notice that button at first.
Dahsar, that button may very well not be your problem and I do not want to insult you with this post but maybe there is someone else out there that needs this info.
Good luck with it.
I had this problem before. For whatever reason, I had to open up busybox installer and did a re-install, then the root explorer worked.

Even after pressing the little button in root explorer. It still wouldn't change however reinstalling busybox was the answer thank you

Go into superuser and clear root explorer. When you open root explorer you should be asked again to give su permissions.
If that doesn't work go to /system/bin and make sure you have a file called 'su'.

[Q] Rooted ICS: Can't Remove System Apps (Titanium Backup, ADB, or Root Explorer)

I can't seem to remove system apps on my ICS Rooted Note. (Alba V2.2)
I tried titanium backup, adb command line, and rootexplorer.
Anybody have a solution?

If you enable write and can past a file into the system folder then you should be able to remove system apps. If you phone is connect to the PC even if you have root you might not be able to write or delete a file.

It seems that you don't have full root privileges. Use Root Explorer and try to paste a file into /system folder.
If you cannot do it, you don't have root. That's why your root apps cannot do their job.
I do have root privledges.
Whatekse can be the cause?

You can use rootexplorer to first make the system directory read/write then change the name of the system apps you don't want. I usually just remove the "."beween the apk name and apk... Then reboot...

I'd take a second look and make sure. I think you'll find that Chas was right.

I aslo have the same problem with RR V1 JB.
I can delete system apps with Root Explorer but not with TB.
What could be the reason for that?

[Q] XZ Rebooting with ES File Explorer

My XZ's been rebooting whenever I enter ES File Explorer. Is there a reason for this? Here's some background on what I did before this started happening:
1. I rooted my phone using goroh_kun's method
2. Renamed /data/usf to usf1 (NFC Fix)
3. Flashed CWM
4. Did a backup to external SD
5. Tried to change build.prop (DPI) and realized that my XZ will reboot once I'm in the ES File Explorer app for about 10+ seconds. Doesn't matter which directory I'm in.
Has anyone else experienced this?
You have to root using bin4ry method,it has a fix for this kind of reboot.

Oh snap. So I have to redo the root method huh. Do I flash a new firmware first? :/

Did you manage to get this sorted?
Mine still reboots.
I'm using ES File explorer as well on unrooted XZ and I have no reboots.
You can now root using the bin4ry method to ensure a root that does not reboot your phone.

I'm not sure if CWM causes it. I've actually re-did the rooting a few times using Bin4ry's method and there's no problem when using ES File Explorer. This seems to have happened only after installing CWM. I'm gonna try and use TWRP and see how it goes.
EDIT: TWRP doesn't change anything. For some reason, the 2nd time I did the whole rooting process (with Bin4ry's tool), ES File Explorer did not restart the phone. I repaired my phone software using PC Companion and did the root again and this time, it seems to be crapping out again. No idea why though. I tested it right after rooting and there were no issues. This only happened after installing CWM so I'm not sure if installing that seems to have messed stuff up.
EDIT2: I followed this guy's advice and did a factory reset. I re-rooted with Bin4ry's v26 Tool and installed TWRP instead of CWM. ES File Explorer doesn't restart anymore If you've done the same using CWM, I'd say drop CWM and use TWRP for now until something's fixed.

Hi all, i have rooted, locke BL xperia Z and i have some issue with it.

i have Superuser which work fine with Titanium. and with Astro file manager now i can manage file in sdcard - which have director: "storage/sdcard1"
So the only one problem left is i can not use Root explore, can sbd help? :crying:
I had a problem like that and I solved it by using super su instead of superuser and of that doesn't work re root your phone using the new bin4ry rooting method.

Some apps I've found I had to browse to the external SD card by going mnt/sdcard/external_sd. I don't have my phone on me (getting repaired) so I can't check, but I found it pretty confusing. I had to actually go to my PC and browse to make sure it was actually pointing to the right spot.
