Real quick. I searched the forums and couldnt find out how to unlock the LG Thrill P925 is there any specific method. All I could find was how to get internet working thanks
Yes please. I want to unlock too. I don't wanna pay first for a code that may or may not work.

I heard you can call at&t and get an unlock code

HaHA you sure can. Just got two of em with an obviously bogus story about me and the wife goin do some specialized training in Europe. Now I gotta get custom carrier! Lol

I didn't even give them a story. I went online and did a support inquiry and said I need the unlock code. They asked for the number in the phone and the next reply had the unlock code.
I've heard some trashtalk but I personally like at&t. I'd keep em if they weren't so frigging expensive.

Once we get root this will be huge. Until then we need to remember this trick

you can see all the Motorola cloud stuff by going to testing and Motorola services. *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer gets you to testing. Don't know if this has any usefulness to it just thought id share.

Not much on the dialer trick

I hope root comes for the phone soon, the amount of VZW crap ware is crazy.
Has anyone tried z4 to see what happens?
I'm sure it doesn't work cause if its that simple we would be rooted
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA Premium App
all of the available root options have been tried by various members of this forum and others as well. its probably going to be a while before we get root.

Time is what it takes, and it has to be made worthwhile for devs to spend their time on it. ICS is coming and lets face it many will be looking to that as the next great frontier.
I know from various forums that with the confirmed members who will put up enough coin a ambitious dev would get enough to easily pay for a D3.
Can the Droid 3 be used on T-Mobile if unlocked or rooted? I ask because I noticed a SIM card slot. Thanks..
So I called the number off this link below and they claim they can unlock the Droid 3 for AT&T and it would work on 3g. Also, they can do the same for T-Mobile but it would only work on Edge. Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone dealt with this site before? Thanks.

so i dont know but ive been derpin around and noticed a couple things....first off apparently there is a sdk that has been updated for the droid 3 over at MOTODEV site....i was looking through some settings and enabled data encryption which required a boot into some sort of recovery where the internal disk obviously allowed -rw access inwhich i was wondering if it would be possible to dump this process through ADB (maybe find handshake)....and a simple ls command thru term reveals bloatware galore
Have we looked at te exploit that the nexus users are using? They can root 2.3.3, 2.3.4, and now 2.3.5. Seems we should use their exploit if possible

Unlocked bootloader makes rooting easier. What works for them (unlocked) will not work for the Droid 3 (locked bootloader).

They say it's the XT860 which is technically not the droid 3 but the non CDMA version of it being deployed by Bell Canada (which should be easy enough to unlock for AT&T and T-Mobile)

Unless it's like the D2G, in which case it's locked from AT&T-Mobile.
Protip: call VZW Global Services and tell them you're going to India (no global plans over there - you have to either not use your phone or rack up a giant bill) and ask for the SIM unlock code. Account has to be in good standing and the device has to be on your line.
If you have 6 months of good standing you can just ask for an unlock with no reason given.

on bell canada xt860
first root and than unlock or vice verse?
Thanks ahead
Unlock as in sim unlock? Afaik doesn't matter. You can sim unlock an unrooted phone and vice versa
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium
OK let's stick with the sim unlock
What are the steps and which tools is needed ?
Sim unlocking has to be done with a code. Find a cell repair store near you and ask about sim unlocking. It'll probably cost 20-30 bucks. You can also try some online stores, google xt860 sim unlock. Rooting you can do yourself. If you are on android 2.3.4 you can use Pete's one.click found in the dev section. I'm not sure if it works on the new 2.3.6, but if not search for zergrush. Or find my thread labeled "The xt860, custom roms and you" I've linked to zergrush in there. If you are new to all this may I suggest you spend some time reading various threads and make sure you read directions before attempting anything. If your unsure just ask rather than rushing in and bricking your phone.

the only way to unlocking is using code ??
i use your advice and spend some time reading Before I jump in
Ya you need a code. I was unable to unlock mine. Tried a online service which eventually emailed me back saying they could not find a code. Full refund though. Also tried a store but they could not find a code either. Code is specific to your IMEI which is a number specific to your device. But I know others have successfully unlocked theirs. Also unlock my kill your 3g but there is a fix somewhere on here. We can find it of you need it. But for sure best thing you can do is read and educate as much as you can about your device before rooting.

I used mobileincanada.com twice and that seemed to have worked.
i know verizon will unlock your phone for free. Im not sure about other providers but if you tell your provider your going out of country on business and would like to use your own simcard while away, they will usually allow this as long as you you say your "keeping" your contract with them

i just rang at&t and asked for it.
Really? Knowing AT&T, I find that a little hard to believe. Perhaps there were more details to this?
nope, brought phone on ebay, said i lived out of the US and can i have the unlock code. This isn't uncommon as i was following another post where the user did the same thing.
Every thrill has its own unlock code you can't just go around asking for a code you have to retrieve that yourself

Hello all,
I rooted my LG Optimus 2x a while ago and I'm currently running Cryogen 7.0.
My contract is running out and I'm going to change service providers.
Will my phone be open to other networks (because of it being rooted)??
If not are there any risks to having a rooted phone unlocked?
Hope ya'll can help...
Thanks in advance
Dave
Rooting doesent unlock your phone. I think that you can buy unlock codes on e-bay. And i think its pretty cheap too. Far as i have read about unlocking its safe.

If your contract is running out you should be able to get the unlock code from your provider for free.

Hello, i'm from Russia, I have an Engineering Sample of Droid 3, there is no unlock code in DB of those who sell it. I talk with VZW and Motorola for a long time, and today, after phone call with VZW they said me that the can't provide code if i'm not a customer, but if I have a friend in US who is Verizon's customer, they can provide unlock code to him. But there is one problem. I haven't got a friend in US. Can somebody be my friend and help me with unlock, please?
Someone unlock this guys d3 =P

I would just buy one from unlock4moto.com.
it can't be "just buyied", they and other companies haven't got my code
I guess I don't understand why the difference? The IMEI just gets sent and they send you back a couple codes and you type it in.
