Today i saw the 2nd version of cm7 rc is released with fixes.
i downloaded and installed with wiping all and formatting system...
but when i installed rom, i saw some settings still keeping on rom.
such as my wifi pass or some contacts etc..
i surprised and decided to install stock rom with flash tool, and after that install cm7
but still same thing happens.
when i wipe cache wipe data factory reset and format system, why this happens?
The reason why some contacts were not deleted could be because they were saved to your sim card. Which is not changed during a format/wipe.
As for your wifi pass, host machine could have recognized ur mac address and added you to the safe list or the settings may have been saved on ur SD card because some setting are saved under .android and .android-secure
but there are no contacts in my sim card.
and i formatted my microsd (.android and .android-secure deleted)
Isn't it because of Google Sync ?

maybe contacts. but wireless pass?
Did you miss the dalvik cache wipe maybe? To me it looks, like you forgot something
i didnt forget but it says "E: no dalvik cache on sd-ext" like this
that's because arcee didnt removed all of the un used options...i think

In the first option "make a copy" or something, there refers also backing up wifi passwords... Did you had this checked?

I am using Vaniljeclair Release 11 on a Sprint HTC Touch, on the SD Card via Haret. My system isn't very stable, so I must occasionally reinstall the system. I recently reinstalled and reloaded my data partition from a backup. As a result, my GMail cache is now out of sync. There are plenty of pages which detail how to clear the cache, but they appear to be inappropriate for my system, as the expected entries do not exist in "Manage Applications."
How does one clear the cache and re-sync without those entries? Do I need to delete something with Astro?
Thanks,

my experiences in situations like this, you need to get rid of your backup and do a full clean boot. you can use astro to backup your apps, but as far as data, i have never been able to use a data restore- best suggestion- store as much on mmc as you can that way there is not that much to restore- just use astro to fine the file and open it again---
hope it helps
How I can backup aps with astro?

from astro, hit power button (to bring up sub menu) tap tools and that will give you the app manager/backup option.
I'm using Slim ICS 3.2 but I want a clean install, I've gone through so many Roms so I don't want any other file conflicts.
DamianGTO written a guide for a superclean installation

Alternatively transfer essentials to computer from your internal sd card>>>factory reset and wipe internal sd card>>>Attach to computer and only transfer back your nandroid backup (you still need this incase something goes wrong) and the rom zip...
Go to recovery wipe data/factory reset>>>wipe cache>>>wipe dalvik>>>mounts and storage>>>format system+cache+datadata+data (I dont wipe boot and you need sdcard)>>>Flash rom
That should give you a very clean install
Cleaner if you clear up your exsd if you have one

First dl. Your rom to sd (don't move it from your download section, this is your internal SD)
Just follow the steps, 3 posts up,but as he said DO NOT WIPE SD-CARD, doesn't matter if u wipe boot nothing bad will happen.remember to also wipe dalvik cache.
After wipe, install your rom and essentials(needed on slim rom) then let it boot.if u restore apps with titanium b. Then only restore app, not app+data otherwise u might have some apps fc
Hope it helped
Ps.
Damiangto is banned from a lot of sites because he violates open source rules and won't give up his source codes
Even though he uses other people codes (kernel codes)

whoops, I wiped SD card. Seems to be running ok, what have I done?

You have deleted all your pictures music etc on your SD card. Including the rom that you were meant to or have already flashed. Also you may have deleted your backups and possibly your nandroid.
If you haven't flashed flashed yet ensure you make a nandroid backup and transfer the rom you wish to flash onto your sd card.

Ok thats good then. Maybe clear data from Maps. If that doesn't work then uninstall and reinstall the app. Have you tried them two?

I don't understand are you sharing your problem just to share or do you have a problem that wants/needs resolving?
If you want something resolved then please tell us what you were doing, what you have/had on the phone before this problem and what you have tried so far?

I have CM7.2 and clockworkmod recovery. I've noticed recently that I'll snyc my facebook contacts, set my keyboard under settings, etc. If I reboot, all of that is gone. I have to uninstall facebook app and re-install to resync everything, I have to go into settings and re select my keyboards.
When I first flashed CM7 I did a full data wipe and rest, cleared cache, etc. I use Titanium Backup for scheduled backups if that matters. I don't actually know if other things are getting reset as well wen I reboot, but those are the obvious things I notice.
I would really like to avoid having to wipe this all and start from scratch.
Thanks in advance
Are you using something like s2e / apps2se? If so you may need to have Facebook data saving in internal memory rather than on the SD card.
That's about all I can think of, but hopefully it helps.

Yes, I do use apps2sd and have facebook saved to SD. I'll change that and see if it helps.
This actually doesn't make a lot of sense to me. And unfortunately, FB takes up around 12 MG on my phone, so I was trying to keep it on my SD. After I reboot, if I go into FB, it's set to don't sync contacts, even though I had previously set it to sync all contacts. I figured once the SD card is remounted, the synced info would come back.
Also, still not sure why my keyboards are all unchecked after reboot. Am I required to have Android Keyboard installed?

Unfortunately, that is the way it is if you move Facebook or Twitter app to SD and after reboot you will have to enter username and password again. My understanding is because of security concern.
You have your keyboard installed to the sdcard as well which is why you have to select it again on reboot.

I have a galaxy tab p1000 that was originally on the carrier's Froyo 2.2
I have been trying to upgrade it for 3 days straight now with many tutorials(Overcome/CF-root 3.3/...) from 2.2 froyo to anything newer but i keep coming back to square one - my old applications keep appearing after flashing/wiping and they crash along with the google framework when the new OS loads.
It looks like there is some protection on the partitions that doesn't allow me to change/delete data on them.
I tried:
Restocking using Odin (with the pit and original firmware) recovery mode factory reset + cache + dalvik reset settings -> privacy -> factory reset removing the applications one by one.
When removing apps after restart everything returns.
Nothing helps. each time i bring up the OS again the old apps appear again. Same happens after connecting to comp and manually deleting stuff - after unmount, they return (everything i deleted).
Also
I can't diassociate my phone from the account - wipes don't do it and when i manually try it from settings then gapps (google framework) crashes and is not removed.
No restore nor backup are marked when i factory reset.
Also after wiping all (+dalvik) and booting it will show me the wizard but always remembers previous account and uses it - it wont let me set it on startup. Can't this be a partition mount in Read Only or something like that ? I wish there was a method to really format all user data maybe with odin ?
Maybe i can try to return to stock rom froyo 2.2 ? do you know of a tar out there with this original version ?
meybe the problem is related to ext4 partitions ?
Thanks in advance,
-thedrs :crying:

yes he is right
Thanks for the info...
is there a definite method to check the internal sd mem is bad ?
maybe somehow mounting it on a linux/windows and writing ?
You can remove the internal sd card. search on xda for the guides.
Do you see any error messages in recovery?

Does it mean for sure that my internal mem is gone ?
(all the problems began when i tried to upgrade my OS from 2.2 so it seems unlikely that the iinternal memory just happened to die now)
Gave the tab to a lab for fixing.
They told me the internal mem was bad and they installed xiaomi MIUI rom on it.
They didn't remove internal memory.
Now it loads but still i can't download apps from market ("no space left on device").
And after restart it forgets everything including default google account.
Hello everyone.
I have a question for all of you... how cand i reset the phone just as if it would be new? Every time i flash a new rom the phone remembers the wifi passwords, the kill processes i made before and much more.
I want to make the phone lighter, to make it run fast without lags and fc. I changed the pit file (4Gb), but the phone runs slow...
Deactivate this in Google account settings... Do not sync app / personal settings.
from the recovery delete cache, dalvik cache and data partition... also internal sd card. after rebooting disable account restore and account sync
