Wireless mirroring to TV - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i want to wireless mirror my Galaxy note to my Tv. I've got a regular dumb tv so no smart capabilities.
What's the best options for doing this? Is it even possible?

maybe connecting the TV to a network streaming device that has wifi capabilities, then stream from the note
the problem is which device can be used with the note because there are so many streaming devices out there
EDIT: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SMP-N200-Streaming-Media-Player/dp/B005MR6CNK/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
maybe this one will work as it has DLNA support

If I make it clear what I want to do that might help. Ideally I'd like to be able to use netflix and the Web browser on my Tv, but wireless. I just don't even know if it's possible.
If not why not?

HDMI or something on the nexus one?

Hi,
I want to know if there is a way that I can see my nexus one on the TV. Or if not that, atleast show videos like from YouTube. I can only play audio.
Please help me. My TV has no USB port, but I have a USB thingy connected to my TV through HDMI.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Remote control your Nexus from your PC, and connect your PC to the TV.
But then why would you need Nexus...
I'm afraid it's not possible... the only thing you could do is this.
afaik, the only device through which you can do something like that is desire HD, since it features a mini-HDMI port.
You can't connect it the conventional way, since there's no HDMI port...but you could try through the USB cables
Btw, the Desire HD does not have a HDMI port, but the Evo 4G does.

There is no way to do HDMI mirroring without HDMI support built into the phones hardware, and unfortunately, the N1 lacks any ability to output video to anywhere other than the display on the phone.
What behelit was talking about is using a DLNA server on your device, which will allow you to have your music, videos, and pictures available for people to view over your local network with any DLNA compatible device. All while being wireless. Many newer Samsung and Sony TVs support this, along with a lot of their BluRay players (including other manufacturers) along with the PS3 and the XBox 360. Essentially it works like a dvd player where you will have menus and can pause and rewind and all that fun stuff.
I believe the usb host thread has examples of people using an external monitor, but I don't think the usb output is HDMI...
The USB host thread has people using external USB2HDMI adapter, which gets the output sent for it by the device driver in the OS.
No way to do anything like it without modifying the OS to have USB host capability to begin with. Or building a special external USB host and drivers.

[Q] HDMI Mirroring?

How can I best utilize the HDMI Mirror functionality on the phone? I have it working on a Sprint Evo using FullHDMI, but this app doesn't appear to like the Revolution?
Anyone else have it working? If so, how did you get there?

I was just about to ask something similar.. I have tried two different brand mini hdmi cables and i can get nothing to show on my TV. I have tried using it for netflix, videos from the gallery, etc with no success. I have tried all three resolution options with no success... has anyone gotten it to work with the built in HDMI options the revolution has?

Thanks to the original responder for the hint on where to find it, much appreciated. To those who say RTFM, you can suck it because there isn't a mention of that to be found in the guide which came with it.

I had no sound at first. Had to change a setting on the TV to tell it to get sound through the HDMI. Works perfect now. Check settings on your TV.

At this point, your phone could have a bad micro HDMI port. I'd have it replaced with a new one. But if you feel like its not your phone then take your phone and your HDMI cable to best buy (or any store that sells Televisions) and ask a representitive that you want to test it out before you buy it (the TV ofcourse).
Most reps will let you hook in your HDMI device without causing much fuss.
If your phone works then its your TV.
If it doesn't then you can get another HDMI cable to test out (or find someone who has a micro HDMI phone and test their phone).
If it works on the second cable then problem solved.
If it worked on someone elses device then your phone has hardware issues.

Rooting your phone voids your warranty, so I'm pretty sure Verizon will check for that when they receive your old phone. They will probably charge you the retail price for the replacement phone they sent you.

Not quite...
With all the due respect to your expertise please note:
The mobostick is a fundamentally different device in that it allows complete mobility and functionality. Simply put, you put it in your pocket and can turn ANY USB equipped playback device (anywhere - at your friend's place, in your car or at a boardroom without carrying your TV on your back from home), to a client to your Android smartphone or tablet. No DLNA devices dependencies on full compatibility...
Additionally, you do not need a router either. All you do is turn on your Access Point on your smartphone or Tablet and you have instant connection in the absence of a wifi router....
Also it is not restricted to just media files. It has simplified sharing which allows you to copy wirelessly files from your device and also beam ANY document to a playback device (presentations, spreadsheets etc...).
As you can see, there is no similarities and no restrictions - therefore there are no comparisons... Apples - Oranges or better, Apple - Android....

Can you walk into a friend's place who does not have a Wifi router, , or your car, turn on your Access Point on your device, and playback anything you want in a heterogeneous environment?
In contrast, you plug the mobostick to any USB equipped playback device and share ALL the files you wish from your phone or tablet, anywhere.....

Hi tech - especially Gen1 devices - have a certain cost to bring to market. Having said that though, when you think that sometimes we shell-out $30 and $40 for a set of hi-end cables for connectivity, it seems inexpensive to spend an additional $20 bucks on a mobostick and have all the wireless connectivity we want, anywhere, and without cables to trip over... Of course, we all have our own budgetary restrictions and it is all a matter of convenience and application.
On another note, you seem to be very well informed as to what is out there that is worth noting...

Guys... you are all smurfs
Mobistick is a super gadget.. you dont know what are you talking about.
You can stream WITHOUT a router or wifi hot spot or anything. It is just connecting your android device without cables to your media player or any capable device that have a USB host and if this device can plays 1080p then you can stream 1080p without the phone to render or decode anything. You can play your game or make calls the same time while someone wathcing a 1080p movie from the storage of your phone.

The app I was referring to was actually below which includes media streaming:

I tried the Netgear PTV3000 and it was bad. But if you are in a market for a new HDTV, look for one that support DLNA/Miracast. I have an LG HDTV that support both and I mirror my phone all the time, looks great and very stable.

The slimport just mirrors the phone through a direct connection to the monitor/TV. It works flawlessly. But I realize now that OP was looking for a wireless Miracast solution though. Silly me.
All the Miracst dongles I've looked at had bad reviews. I hope you guys find one that really works consistently. It would be nice to have wireless mirroring on any TV/monitor and I'd rather not go to a Chromecast solution.
i would also like to know of a good and reliable miracast dongle. was hoping chromecast would have an update so it can support mirroring from an android device or at least a mod/hack to enable it but there are none.
I have the Rocketfish one from Bestbuy and it works well. I have used it with a Nexus 10, Nexus 7 2013, Droid DNA, Note 10.1 2014, Shield and a LG G2. It has occasional tearing once in a while but the Shield for whatever reason works the best. I guess due to the 720p screen and not 1080p. I got it a few months ago on sale for $29.99 which I think it is on sale again. It is worth $29.99 but I would not pay $79.99 for it.
I have the PTV3000 use it on my S4, N5, N7, G2, MAXX without issues, there's a few firmware updates that fix a lot of issues. I use it to stream my Slingbox to my TV, there's a slight delay...but don't notice it since I don't watch the phone, just the TV

The PTV3000 also will do WiDi, too, correct?
I'd really like an all in one solution (computer, phone, tablet, etc), which is portable, and lag free. I know there really isn't anything like that out there currently. I am hoping the ASUS dongle will at least take care of the lag problems.
