Switching from CM9 (Which was loud as all hell when plugged into the car stereo) to rooted stock LPY via Mobile Odin has been smooth and painless, but the headphone/aux volume is much quieter than on CM9, and sounds disappointing in the car.
I tried using the service menu accessed by keying in *#197328640#, but when I choose [5] AUDIO to get to the audio settings, I just get returned to the main ServiceMode menu.
Can anyone suggest a way to increase the headphone jack volume, without using those dodgy volume boost applications?
Thanks!
(Im guessing unless someone has made a magic flashable zip to do it, theres probably no way)

im using voodoo sound on simply honey 3.5 w/ damien kernel and things are working great...
when im in the car the amplifier works wonderfully....
but, when i insert my head set no matter what level i put the voodoo amp at it makes no difference.
i check through all the settings but i dont see anything... is there anyone out there that might know what the problem is.
thanks.
This is how I set up Voodoo myself.
Max out the media volume on the phone.
Go into Voodoo Control, and make sure "Map Volume Keys Hack" is checked. Also, for the safety of my ears, I also make sure "Jack Plug In Safety" is also checked.
Then when you insert your headphons plug, a little Voodoo icon should appear in the upper left of the phone screen. The volume when adjusted, should be controlled through the Voodoo amplifier.
Are you using Voodoo Control Plus, or is your kernal Voodoo enabled?
i don't think its plus...
its just voodoo control and yes the kernel does allow for it...
i see all the options you stated and have mine set up similarly...
my issue is ONLY WITH HEAD SET volume...
for instance ill put the amplifier up for music... then when i get a call ill plug in my headphones and the volume will be LOUD!! and no matter how low i put the volume it wont go down.
:\
Update: Solved by removing the noise cancellation by hitting the menu button while in a phone call. Unbelievable that noise cancellation would cause the speaker not the function. Turning it off cause the blue icon mentioned below to go away as well.
First: This is the handset speaker for phone calls, not the rear (loud speaker).
After trying the clockwork speed mod on my 2.2 Captivate (finally lag gone), people complained my MIC was difficult to understand, so I tried going into the service mode and doing the following (noting defaults) using this guy's info
http://android.modaco.com/topic/315030-samsung-galaxy-s-i9000-mic-sensitivity-recording/
Steps:
*#*#197328640#*#*
[5] AUDIO
[1] HANDSET
[1] VOLUME
[6] I2S1 Rx Gain: Change to 0x38e8 (was 0x3c45)
[4] DST Speech TX Volume: Change to 98, was 88.
After doing this I had no volume in telephone calls, but in speaker phone mode and also while plugging in the mic. The mic appears to be detected properly - with Pandora running, I can plug it in and it switches from the external speaker to the mic. At this point I switched them back to the originals and it was the same condition. Reboot, the same.
Since then I have tried
Lots of googling and searching this forum
Factory default restore in the Clockwork bootloader
A few different sound managers - none have settings for handset volume
Other settings in the service manager.
I am guessing either
a) Speaker is killed (doubtful, not like I set gain to 0xFFFF)
b) I inadvertently changed something in the service manager when changing the gain setting
I plan on trying:
Once-click gingerbread clean install:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127249 Done, no dice
Then loading:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127578
Until then its either speaker phones or headphones for phone calls. If I can get this back, I'll optimistically looking for mic tuning after this
Also of interest - I used the Voodoo speed mod before Clockwork, but it hosed up some operations of the phone (auto-rotate, some audio sounds disabled).
During calls there is a little blue icon above the "end call" button which looks like a phone with a voice bubble coming out of it. I assume this is normal. It goes away during speaker and mic mode.
Hi all, I'm coming from a Sgs2 where Voodoo Louder was perfect but on my Note when I set the audio boost with the slider, for example at +6 dbm, it's ok and it does the boost but when I press the volume buttons on the side of the phon the volume loose the boost and return to the original "Samsung setting".
In the app I have not ticked smart boost option and I have set the limit to +6 dbm so I don't understand why it does this when my Sgs 2 with the same settings doesn't loose the boost when pressing the volume buttons.
I am on Rocket V-20 Rom with AbyssNote Kernel 3.5c.
This happens with stock samsung music player and also with player pro and with Power Amp full Version
Thanks in advance for your help.

i have the same problem. i'm on xxla4 with cf root kernel. it also happens with voodoo control plus on my original sgs. maybe we'll have to ask the developer.
Having some issues with it too. Whenever i press back button(anywhere) it will be back to pre-louder mode.
I was also having the same issue with Rocket Rom V20... But upgrading to V22 has resolved the issue.
Hi, I strongly recommend using Smart Boost which gives optimal audio quality results and provides a better usability as well.
This may warrant a new thread, but is there anyway to make Voodoo Louder boost the output of the Samsung docks as well? I love the boost provided to the headphone output, but the output from the Samsung car dock is very low and poor quality. I noticed the output is controlled by the media volume on the phone, so I was wondering if there is anyway to make Voodoo Louder boost this output as well?
The calls volume seems too low for me, especially in noisy environments.
Looks like there are many ways to amplify the external speaker or the headphones output, but no way to increase the earphone calls volume. I've tried Viper4, Extra_Volume_Booster in both flavors, but no improvement. At the best it modifes the internal speaker or the headphones, but no improvement to the earphone volume.
Any possibility to increase the volume of the calls volume in the earphone speaker?
Thank you guys.
SONY Xperia SP 5303, 12.1.A.1.205, rooted
When in call you can make the phone go a bit louder by using the volume keys (it is not much but a bit) also there are some more settings under Settings > Calls/dialer perhaps you can take a look there...
~~ Regards
Thanks mrjraider, but I know that, those are regular features of every phone. Those are all maxed and active.
I was looking for an application or a way to mod the xSP in order to get a louder caller earphone volume.

With an unlocked bootloader and rooted ROM you can use Williams or Doomlords kernel, depending on the ROM you intend to use.
Then install Fauxsound and increase all volumes.
There's really no other option that delivers the same results.
Thanks Gamm!
When my phone is connected via Bluetooth to my car's hands-free kit, some audio could do with being made a little louder.
For example the navigation prompts from Google Maps are plenty loud enough, but some audio-book MP3s played via MD Player and phone call audio could do with being a bit louder.
I have the volume on the Note 8 and the hands-free kit on maximum.
Is there a way I can apply an audio boost when connected to that particular Bluetooth device (or have it controlled via Tasker)?
There seem to be lots of audio boost/control apps in the Playstore, but many seem to allow control of volume for a device without the ability to boost the volume above "normal".
I tried "Precise Volume (+EQ/Booster)", but the boost function didn't seem to make any difference.
If it makes any difference, I'm using Android Auto when connected to the car.
Bump - Anyone?
the only app in the play store that I have found that actually boosts the volume on this phone without being rooted is one called "volume Booster Goodev"
be careful, though, as it can really crank the volume up..
Thanks for that .... had been looking for a volume boost on the headphone out without rooting and this seems to do the job perfectly.
