Help people, I do not have sound on the phone .... no sound ringtones, or volume keys ... but I have sound when talking on the phone .. Help urgently, thanks.
Look at the back of the phone at the bottom... you should have a sony ericsson logo... try to push it in and see if it clicks in or seems loose...
(seems a bit insane, but the mic for ringtones and alerts is just under there... and it just pushes in)
.. Still nothing, maybe the problem is some sound drivers ..... disaster, I have tons of missed calls ....
I expect it's nothing as trivial, but still like to check:
start - settings - sounds¬ifications - notifications (tab)
event "phone:incoming call" has ring type and ring tone assigned?
apart from that: moved to general, this is not dev related
mr
nothing happens, it still only has a vibration
Is the volume slider in the right position (not at 0)? Did you try to play some sound files using a media player? Because if you did with no success there are only two possible reasons. Either a software problem (maybe you should try a hard reset) or your speaker is defective (send the phone in for repair).
reasons can be 3:
1. - your earphone jack is jammed - can be fixed easily
2. - your speaker/mainboard broke - can be fixed easily in case of the speaker only
3. - your ROM is buggy - can be fixed easily
For those with broken speakers - the speaker block can be purchased cheaply on eBay and replaced within minutes.

OK, your right. I completely forgot about the earphone jack Of course this can also be the reason.
So yesterday my N1 was working fine, I put it to charge and today it's acting all strange:
I can make calls, but when I take the phone to the ear it goes black and doesn't come back. Sometimes if I press trackball or power it does, but normally it should show me the in call screen when I move away.
I can't hear anything from the ear speaker. I don't hear the calling tone, and when the other side picks up (I feel the vibration that tells me that) I can't hear anything. Speaker works fine, only the ear speaker that don't.
I've tried wiping everything twice, removing the battery and putting it back again, downgrading CM to 7.0, and nothing works. The question is: is this a hardware problem (speaker dead) that is making the call screen bug, or is it a software bug that is causing the ear speaker to be mute?
I accept suggestions on how to test it.
UPDATE 1: connecting an external headset on the 3.5 mm plug doesn't work either, I tried to place a call and no sound came of the headset, and neither media apps like youtube redirected the sound to it.
Have you tried doing a full wipe, plus while your at it you might as well reflash your ROM with a system wipe. That should fix you up.
I flashed a whole new stack of stock stuff (boot, recovery, system), going back even to 2.1, and still no game.
Then I opened it and changed the top circuit board for one I had here (I replaced it with a new one because of the power button), and still no game.
So I can't think of anything else short of a total loss of this phone, maybe some circuitry on the bottom board fried or something like this.
I don't see any solution for my poor nexus
Hi All,
I hope all is well and you are enjoying the holiday break.
I'm having trouble with my new SGN: the "In-Call" volume is too low.
When I'm on a street or in the car (anywhere with background noise), I can barely hear what a person says when I'm talking on my phone. Headset/Speaker volume is fine and they can also be further boosted by using Volume+ app from the Market but I cannot seem to find any cure for the low In-Call volume.
I did some research online and I noticed someone has posted a trick to solve similar challenge for the SGII by using Samsung Service Code (See below)
-------------------------------------------------------------
Dialer *#*#197328640#*#*
[5] AUDIO
[1] HANDSET
[1] VOLUME
[1] SRC Speech RX Volume
[5]5_lvl : 88
Menu -> Key Input
Change to any number greater than 88 (Max:100)
OK
Press back to save.
Default values:
0_lvl: 63
1_lvl: 68
2_lvl: 73
3_lvl: 78
4_lvl: 83
5_lvl: 88
---------------------------------------------------
** I tried the same trick on SGN which I purchased from Amazon but nothing happens when I select option, [5] AUDIO. It will not drill down to next set of sub-menus even if I key in the "5" from the main menu.
Please let me know if anyone else are also experiencing the similar challenges. Thank you very much for your time.
Unfortunately the sound is a big issue here.
Supercurio is working on an app to increase the vol. THis will need root and will work only on with the headset. THis app should be released in the next few days.
I was looking for a solution to increase the speaker volume ( Not quality ) as the speaker sound is low for voice calls.
There is an app called volume+ in the market. You can try it for the speaker.
Hi drgopoos,
Are you saying that you also felt In-Call Volume for SGN is way too low? I am just curious if I have a faulty unit or this issue is concerning all SGN units in general. I did try the Volume+ App from the market and it does boost the volume for Headset and External Speaker but it does nothing to the "In-Call" Volume.

Try moving the entire phone lower onto your ear. I know it sounds obvious, but the speaker is quite high on the device and my volume was low because the speaker was too high on my ear. Once I lowered it (feels awkward) it was much louder.
Anyone else felt the volume on your SGN is way too low or am I going deaf...
Can you recommend a way to remedy this problem?
I know how frustrating it can be when the earpiece speaker isn't loud enough. My nexus one had low in-call volume and it was frustrating. My Note, however, has very high in-call volume on the earpiece speaker! I have to turn it down a few notches for comfort. I'd say you might have a defective unit, or maybe you're holding it wrong like that other guy suggested.
If you're talking about the external speaker being too quiet, the one for speaker phone calls, playing music, ring tunes/notifications, etc., then I agree. I hope Supercurio's working on a fix for that. I'm currently using an equalizer from the market that allows me to turn all frequencies up a few decibels, but at the expense of sound quality.
Mine is loud enough...

The volume is ok with ear peice when i am inside the house and silent.
However outside , when i am walking in the street its to difficult.
Both indoors and outdoors my Note is one of the loudest phones i owned. I can't complain about its ear piece. In fact, i have to lower it 2-3 clicks to be comfortable
Yeah...I got the same problem also...
Indoor works great! but outdoor...oh man....
Earpiece in call volume is good. But, speakerphone in call volume is horrendous! I've tried volume+, equalizer, volume boost, AnEq Equalizer and nothing works! Very sad.
I can't access audio menu [5]. Always loopa me back to main menu. Doea anybody know how to fix that?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
Mine is loud and clear..better than all the other devices i had

Even your speakerphone while in call? That is the one place I really need it because I often use speakerphone a lot while driving or just at home.

Actually, my earpiece volume is quite good. Just a suggestion, not meant to insult you, but since the phone is so large could it be possible you are not placing the earpiece properly over your ear?
For those with poor speakerphone volume the ONLY (I've tried at least 4-5) application I found that worked is Audioboost SGS2 (It's 2.5USD in the market) but that's the only one that truly raises EVERY volume. Be careful though I think there might be potential to damage your speakerphone if you raise it too high. I have it right around 88 (highest is 93)
Hope this helps!
My European version of SGN is about the loudest phone i ever had, speaker phone wise. It's also crystal clear! maybe because i was coming from Desire HD, which had kinda awful sound

I want to retract my last statement. Audioboost does raise the in-call speakerphone volume, BUT it effectively ruins everything else. It creates ALOT of static, even at middle volume levels. It was so bad I had to revert the settings and uninstall it. The search continues...
Switching from CM9 (Which was loud as all hell when plugged into the car stereo) to rooted stock LPY via Mobile Odin has been smooth and painless, but the headphone/aux volume is much quieter than on CM9, and sounds disappointing in the car.
I tried using the service menu accessed by keying in *#197328640#, but when I choose [5] AUDIO to get to the audio settings, I just get returned to the main ServiceMode menu.
Can anyone suggest a way to increase the headphone jack volume, without using those dodgy volume boost applications?
Thanks!
(Im guessing unless someone has made a magic flashable zip to do it, theres probably no way)
The samsung a33 vibrates too much when playing any audio, the only way i found to stop it is by disabling the right speaker.
One Ui 5.1 guide: Settings-> Accessibility-> Hearing enhancements:
- Enable "Mono audio" for both connected audio and phone speaker.
- "Left / Right" balance for only the phone speakers all the way to the left.
Audio volume feels a little lower but the quality seems fine.
Enjoy and let me know if you know other ways to remove the speaker vibration.
