The internal storage has nothing to do with the free memory. Actually you might have very few apps installed but if these apps are memory hungry then you run low on memory. Remember that intenal memory is rom memory and the memory you clean up with the go up is ram memory. So not the same thing. How much memory you have left after some hours of use?

its usualy like 323 m.b ( green ) then 440 ( yellow ) then 460 ( red ) all out of 488 m.b it does this after few minutes of using some apps ( pics art or skype or nimbuzz ..etc ) makes phone lagging so much so i got to clean and it comes bk again

I think that skype uses a lot of ram. Try some other task killer app like system panel. Have you considered flashing a custom rom? Because there are some with very good memory management. Check the development thread. Zeus is awesome and marvel as well. Supressed rom is really fast and light too. These three have also good battery life.

May i know whats you guys free memory i am experiencing smoother and lag free when its on below 60% is there anyway to go lower?
Not really as the phone itself has a memory leakage problem....you can try flashing to other roms if you like but the simple fact is the phone will still leak memory. We really need a rom that will fix it properly but for the time being i dont think anyone has been able to completely stop the mem leakage.

Great ive been seeking the same. I just close and open all the time no backgorund running of any kind. Maybe a compress memory function. I totally agree on the smother running with free mem.

Hi Guys
I have a few question about our device RAM
1. What are you doing if your device get lagging or slow down?
- Kill App using Taks Killer to refresh your RAM?
- Just Reboot the device to reset your RAM?
- Leave your device (LOL)
- what about you? have an opinions?
My Device get slow down while browsing after >20Min, I think the reason because the RAM goes down or less than 25MB.
then my device got freeze and reboot automatically.
I hear an issue about task killer app thats bad for our system.
so I'm using app like RAM Manager or Watchdog.
2. How much RAM are you running to get stable?
My device at startup have remaining about 100~125MB RAM.
and after a few hour its goes down about <70MB.
while browsing its about <50MB. this is normal?
how about you?
I'm Running CM9 (ICS 4.0.4) right now.
Its very stable, but goes crazy after RAM run under 50MB.
I'm need your opinion guys to make RAM more batter.
Thanks for your advice.
Sorry for my bad English.
Quick reply : use a RAM/performance optimizer like adrenaline engine or another script... Uninstall others RAM manager and let me know (you find it in developing section)
Inviato dal mio GT-S5570 con Tapatalk 2
If you are using AOKP, in performance settings there is low memory value, try adjusting it.
Never ever 'clear' your RAM, it will worsen your battery. Android is capable by managing the RAM by itself if it gets high. So there is no question whether the RAM meter would blow if it gets full. Read more : Article by Lifehacker

yeah, I know that. Thats way I using RAM Manager not using Task Killer App.
I tried to believe my device can control RAM it self, but in the fact after a few hour my device got freezing then reboot its self (This problem often encountered when browsing)
Thanks for the Advice guys,
I think the most problem it from our device it self, you know this is Low Device right?
so I cant expect much about the device
but I'll try to find for the best RAM tweak/setting.

To be honest...my device never slows down.
I suggest adjusting the ram values a little higher but not too high. Like with the visible and foreground one might freeze ur phone . Play with it.

GB are more stable than ICS
If my phone just standby is very stable, if just use for like messaging, FB, chatting or similliar like that.
but if you go browsing for >20Min, I think you can feel it.

Hello, i bought the phone (used) a few days ago. it's great.
just wondering, there's a pretty low amount of available ram (~300-350 somtimes 400 after cleaning memory).
currently im running stock 4.1.2
so, if i will flash any cm rom or any other rom, will there be more ram available?
or that's it?
thanks in advance.

why do you need more free ram? more free ram is useless, system uses ram to cache programes to start faster.

Because it's frustrating to close apps\clean ram all the time. it would be nice to have about 50-100mb for extra free ram.

Free RAM is wasted RAM... RAM is way faster that the usual storage. That's why the system preloads as many apps as possible, to start up directly, without loading too long. So, the more used RAM you have, the better. Linux is not Windows. Windows is known for its bad RAM management.
Also, 300Mb is quite a lot BTW regarding 1GB total RAM. Killing apps to "safe" memory is the worst thing you can do. Let the system decide what's needed and what's not.
Also, Questions belong into the Q&A section. Thread moved.
my friend , android works that way. it caches everything to ram so that is faster. you dont need more ram and of course u dont need any task manager to close the background apps. the system on its own knows when to free ram and use it somewhere else. if the case is u need to play a game which need more available ram than the phone can have ( for example lets say the phone needs at least 200 ram for the basic system functions so u have available 800 ram and the game needs 1gb ram then thats another case.) u can install swapper to use some disk space to do what ram does. thats all. but if u dont need or play such game then no need for swapper , no need to clear cache and no need to close background apps. if u think u will get more battery life like that , its also wrong. there is another way to get battery life. thats all. hope i covered u.

You told that there is no need for task manager , so what's the use of these many task manager apps ??
I'm really confused , because as I clean my ram the speed boosts .
So we should not use task manger apps ?!!
And sth else is that , why our ram capacity is 977 instead of 1024 ?

where do u see speedboost when you clean ram in android ? Really ?
the only case this can happen is only if u play for example one of my favorites : dungeon hunter 4 and forget to close the app. At least for some time until the os decides that ok u just forgot it there and close it , u have a decrease of fps at your phone ... eh ok if u forget to push the little button to close an app that needs a big amount of resources, then the task manager is usefull. The apps are apps. There are also 10 different apps to sync google contacs but why use them if google contacts are syncing by default if u dont close the sync ?
lol thanks now i understand

I tried clean master yesterday but the result was not great... I search some tuto about how to use it and if I understand well, it's just a task killer.
I also tried an experiment : I enabled the little widget (in clean master) which show the percentage of RAM used in real time, then I opened a game (dear hunter 2014).
After 1 minute in the game, the percentage of RAM used (if the information of clean master is exact) was 67% and suddenly, the widget disappeared : I think all the app in background had been closed. So why? It shouldn't happend because a lot of RAM was free.
And finally, even with all app in background killed, after 2/3 minutes, I have a FC in the game...
So if someone has an idea/theory about what happen with RAM management, I would be very happy to know!
Informations :Xperia SP Rooted, BL Locked, ROM : Existenz 1.3.7.

Before, I used LMT Launcher (pie control) and the same thing happened: LMT was killed after 1 minute in the game.
To sum up: I have 300mb RAM free, I open the game and then all app are killed. And I don't understand why. The game don't use more than 300 mb RAM no?
Plus, this problem don't happen with my brother's galaxy tab 3 (1Gb RAM too).

First of all you can click the thanks button .That's why it is there to shorten the length of telling thanks.Back to our point.
LMT things that your game is eating a lot ram and doesn't know if you are really using it.So it kills it to save up ram.
Each games uses different amount of ram.Like a 2d game would use 50mb ram and a 3d game may use 100mb of ram.
It depends on.Xperia SP has a bad ram management for now and onwards to the next version (4.3) it will be fixed a lot.
The rollout starts early Feb / ends of Jan...You can wait a little can't you?

My RAM usage is about that high, 700mb. But since the Z1 has about 1.6 gb of RAM, you shouldn't really worry. If it does get to the point where apps stop working or services become unresponsive, restart the phone or kill the app that's using the RAM. I believe when your RAM usage is about 1.5 GB it starts becoming a bit unresponsive.
Nexus uses less RAM because it only has stock apps. Sony has their own software running in the background along with some of Google's apps.

That doesn't makes sense. As long as your device isn't unresponsive or laggy you shouldn't bother about RAM-Usage. Android handles your available Memory quite well.
Try looking at it like this:
There isn't any use in having more and more RAM, if people on the other hand go and try to keep the RAM-usage low. As long as you don't have problems (lags or such) having free RAM is just eyecandy.
Additionally:
For every app killed, Android needs to load it from storage the next time, resulting in more battery drain than just letting it idle in memory
