Hello,
Does any body know how to transfer files from MAC to my Galaxy Note now that its on Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3?
I recently updaded my German Galaxy Note and I just found out that Ice Cream Sandwich took out the feature where i can set my note on USB debug and my MAC will read it as a USB device.
Android file transfer by Google does not work cuz i have my Note plugged in to my MAC right now and it wont recognize my device.
Anybody, pls i really need your help?

Note/Mac/ICS do not play well
I have the same problem as the original poster ...
I got a new Note (on O2 UK), and installed the latest version of Kies (KiesMac_1.3.0.12062_4_1) on my Macbook-pro (running OSX 10.7.4... Lion).
It immediately asked to upgrade the phone to Ice Cream Sandwich ... and then proceeded to do that.
After the upgrade, Kies will no longer talk to the phone ... it does recognise that it's there but any attempt to sync or backup (any sort of data transfer) simply hangs.
The suggestion of using the 'USB Utilities' in the 'Wireless and networks' area does no good. From what reading around I have done it seems that USB mass storage simply doesn't work in ICS and the system is supposed to use 'MTP' instead, but this is not built in to OSX.
Currently the only (rather horrible) workarounds I can think of are:
1. wireless (very slow ... not good enough for music/video really)
2. transfer files via a micro-sd card with an adapter for the sd slot on my macbook.
I'd be really happy if anyone had a better idea.

Hello folks,
I'm facing this "please insert a disk" issue when connecting my Note to computer via USB Debugging mode / Mass Storage Mode.
I'll let screenshots in the attachment explain itself. #1 shows the screenshot of devices menu when the phone is plugged into the computer in DEBUG mode; #2 shows the screen after I've clicked "connect USB storage" from the drop-down list of the phone; #3 shows what happens when I try to open one of the two "removable disks".
MTP mode works fine, as well as Kies connection. As I finally started exploring the potential of Android platform, I realized that MTP and Kies connection are the most useless connection options for me, and I'd rather leave it in debug mode all day. So has anybody experienced this issue, or had any suggestion on the solution?
As always, many thanks in advance, and many thanks button clicks afterward!
p.s.,
Desktop OS: Win7 Pro X64 SP1
Note: 2.3.6 Stock LB1 Open Germany Firmware, CF rooted LB1 kernel.
Also, I should have all the latest official device driver from Samsung, as I have the latest version of Kies installed (and I discovered a driver folder under Kies' installed location). I'm not so sure about adb driver, but I was able to find the Note to be listed under devices by typing "adb devices". So.. I don't know where could've gone wrong.
Help anyone?
This really sounds weird... I was facing problems of the Galaxy Note not being detected on several Windows7 32/64-Bit SP1 computers as well but this was gone after I installed SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.
You are right - from all that i know all required drivers should be available when KIES is installed on your system. Whatis even more strange is that your device seems to be detected as two partitions are available and are displayed in Explorer...
So I would test the following:
- check if your device manager lists any unknown devices
- Uninstall KIES and try to find the SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones and install those
- check all available USB ports and see if this solves the problem
- try another USB cable
- make sure your (external) SD card is formatted with a Windows compatible file-system e.g. FAT32
Hope this is helpful and helps solving your problem.
Thanks for your reply!
My device manager basically listed all the drivers/devices associated with the phone:
My Device manager shows devices:
Samsung Android Composite ADB interface
Android UMS Composite USB device (x2)
SAMSUNG Android USB Modem
USB Mass Storage Device
USB Mass Storage Device (Android)
I've attached the screenshot when all the drivers being installed when the phone is firstly connected to the computer. Also in the device manager, everything shows "this device is working properly"
I then decided to test with another Note of my friend's (On the same computer). Her Note has no SD card in it, and is completely stock ROM non-rooted LA4 Open Germany firmware. The same thing happened.
One thing worth mentioning: Yesterday, this worked only for once. When I initially encountered this issue, I restarted my computer, and boom, my phone was connected in Debugging mode! However, once disconnected, and I tried to connect it to the computer again, this issue came back. And afterward, no matter how I restart my computer, the phone won't get connected.
I also tried all USB port (USB 2.0 and 3.0), three different cables (2 of them are Samsung OEMs) and failed to address the issue.
I'm nearly exhausted but I will never give up, as this is my only computer and my only phone (haha), and without solving this issue, I'm never gonna be able to view the phone as a USB storage and easily transfer the file from my computer to the phone.
I'm going to try the last thing that I haven't done from the list you posted:
- Uninstall KIES and try to find the SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones and install those
I believe that I can keep the driver folder in the Kies' folder, as I believe those are the newest Samsung driver, given that the Kies was the latest release version.
So far, I can only conclude that this issue is not related to specific phone but the Windows 7.
And thank you for your help btotaku!
If anyone has any insight into this issue, please help me. Thumbs up for you!
BTW, I was able to extract both SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe from under Kies' installation path under Program Files x86 folder, and an uncompressed folder of all kinds of drivers for Samsung device, called "USB Drivers".
And looks like I was wrong. The newest version of SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones I had was 1.4.8. While the driver that came with the newest Kies was 1.4.103
I'll post back soon
Reinstal Windows on your PC bro.
Problem fixed.
is that your internal memory or the sd card?
Same thing happens either with SD card in the phone or not

That's the last thing I would do
I just upgraded to JB 4.1.2 and notice that the phone will no longer automatically mount the sdcards in Windows 7 Explorer. I got used to simply connecting a USB cable and "GT-N7000" would appear in the list of drives in Explorer. Could this be someting to do with the ROM itself? The stock one for my phone is not available yet to compare.
Does anyone know of an app that will do this that works on this ROM? I've tried several but none of them seem to do what they claim.
I know I can use an apps such as MyPhoneExplorer (phone client) and PC app but this involves as many buttone and key presses as doing it natively on the phone.
Galaxy Note GT-N7000
Android version 4.1.2
Baseband N7000XXLS3 Ultimate JellyBean 4.1.2 v4
Kernel version 3.0.31-422420
Thanks in ad vance
Trevor
I believe this is a bug with the leaked JB, ive seen several similar issues regarding charging / mounting / storage, Basically everything that requires USB.
I too suffer from this occasionally but im a ubuntu user.
Have you tried multi-mount - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rafoid.multimountsdcard.widget&hl=en
Thats the paid version ^^ there is a lite (free) version which does the job, It also has option for auto mount when usb is connected.
Thank you. Yes, I tried MultiMount but couldn't get it to work. Spent a fruitless hour fiddling around with it. Would have been happy to buy the paid app if it had.
Basically, all I'm looking for is to automate the "USB Connected/Turn on USB storage" function of JB when I plug in a USB cable. It works fine right now but too many things to swipe and click on to get there.
Do you use MTP or Mass Storage ? If you go to settings > more > usb utilities, It should have option to change.
If you use MTP it will will automatically mount when connected, With mass storage you must manually mount it.
Alternatively just quick search google for android auto mount
There's a ton of apps / tricks to do this, Not sure if they work on JB yet but worth a try, Ive never used anything like that so i cannot confirm which ones work and which dont.
I've just flashed Jelly Bean and all went nicely but now I can't connect the device to the ADB so I can, for example, test Android Apps I'm developing, because I can't find the USB drivers for Jelly Bean (I suppose they don't even exist). Right now, I can only connect the SD card. I can't do operations like rooting (just an example, it's already rooted, obviously). I'm afraid I'll have to downgrade.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks in advance.
Just solved this. There was already a thread concerning this problem but I only found it now. My bad!
How about posting the link to your solution here? People searching for it will find it useful.
Here it is

Settings > Storage > Press Menu Hardware Key > Connect as: Mass Storage
Then just to connect the device to the PC and the drivers will automatically be installed as always.
Hi,
So, I went and bought the Razr I phone, despite the language question was hard to me.
But anyway, now I have other hard issue: How to transfer files between the phone and a WinXp computer, when there is no "Mass storage" option in USB computer connection on the phone.
The "Media device (MTP)" mode seems not to work with XP, but "Camera (PTP)" works. But I can see only DCIM and Pictures folders from the computer.
I'm not sure, where they are even located: on the phones internal memory or on the memory card (there is 8gb micro-sd).
An interesting feature was, that when the phone was connected to Win7 pc in camera-mode, I could see the both memory spaces and all the folders.
Why can't I see the folders on XP? The phone is with the stock ROM (81.5.39001.XT890.Retail.en.GB / Android 4.0.4).
And why there is not "Mass storage"-option despite my old Defy with CM9 and the same Android 4.0.4 version had the option.
Edit. Solution - see post #8
For a long time I didn't use XP but I assume You need to install whole driver pack to see MTP on XP. I suggest to look for mod to enable Mass Storage Mode on Razr I. I saw this mod somewhere here but completely don't remember haw it was named.
I could find only one driver package from Motorola: Motorola Device Manager 2.4.5
But that didn't help. After connecting the phone with USB-cable, my pc recognizes the phone, but then requires a MTP driver.
Weird that no driver-CD did not come with the phone original package.

It is this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297888. Works really good.
But if you are on 4.0.4 You can find on this forum mod of the framework with USB mass storage enabled.
But you have to be rooted.
Yes, the phone is on stock 4.0.4 version as I have owned it just few days.
The phone suggested an update (91.2.29001.en.GB), but I didn't update. I was happy with CM9 4.0.4 version in my Defy, and same version seems to run smoothly on Razr I too. And by the update, I would possibly loose the FM radio function.
Hopefully the mod on this forum is easily described, I'm a low-level rookie with customizing Android. However is was delightful to install CM9 to my Defy with good instructions on this forum.

You can try this one method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2005541
or this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2040933
Make a back up at first.
I've just found, that there are some MTP drivers for WinXP:
Media Transfer Protocol Porting Kit and then Windows Media Player 11 (which includes the driver)
Lets see if one of them work first. Otherwise I have to say goodbye to the phones warranty.
Edit. Case solved. I installed Media Player 11 and then selected Motorola USB Composite Device driver in WinXP device manager for the phone.
Now it works, despite not so simply as USB mass storage option did. I'll spare the warranty so far if something comes ahead.
Thanks for help.
Don't worry about warranty. In this days You can root without bootloader unlock and use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297888. Yesterday I tried to download 7GB of movies from my RAZRi card by MTP and when I saw transfer speed around 1MB/s exactly the same as on WiFi I searched some and this is easiest working way for USB Mass Storage.
Hi , how are you guys , I hope everything is fine!
Is it possible for a tablet connect to Sync 3 as client device?
I just bought a china non branded tablet "Voyo i8 max" and I'm try to connect it to my Sync3.... and fail with nothing happened when I connect it.
For this Sync 3 HU , I'm pretty sure it is work well with Android auto , because I had ever connect it successfully to my HTC U Ultra.
The information of this tablet:
1. Android 7.1.1 ( I think it is AOSP)
2. CPU : Mediatek Helio X20
3. 4G ram
4. 64G flash
5. 4G LTE supported and able to dial phone to talk
That is what I tried for this tablet:
1. install Google play , service ....etc.(almost all I know apps from google frame)
2. install AA V3.4.582534 , V2.9xxx , V2.6(?)xxx
3. several USB cable were tried.
4. set tablet usb mode to data-transfer , charge , MTP ......etc.
5. root it and change build.prop from table to phone.
6. set tablet enable developer option and set usb as debug mode.
One thing very special is I follow this:
developer.android.com/training/auto/testing/
To use my PC as simulation HU , it successfully connected!!
so... I'm wondering if it is something need to "init" tablet AA when I plug this tablet to Sync 3?
this tablet is already rooted , so I can change root setting or change Linux kernel files....
it is very appropriate ,if you guys got any idea for this , please hint me .... I'll try it....
thank you very much and sorry about my English....
