[Q] SG Note Housing/Body/Mask - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all hi to everybody.
Been on this forum for months now reading about this great phone samsung galaxy note.
But now i have a issue that i would like to discuss with you because some of you already have or will have this problem with the phone.
So the problem is after 2 months that i had my Note i noticed a slight crack around the display of the phone and today i noticed another one.
I called a official samsung service in my country and asked them how much will it cost to exchange that piece of plastic. And he told me that i have to exchange the whole display and housing! Which is around 200€!
So attached some pictures below.
My question is did somebody tried to change the housing on the Note and is it true that i have to exchange the display also?
Because i found a new housing for the note for only 30$ on ebay and was wondering is it hard to replace it on my own.
My phone did not drop or fell from anywhere since i had it. Only thing is that i wear it in a jacket pocket everyday because it is my business phone.
Appreciate your time.

Watch video's in YouTube om how to relaxen that (Samsung galaxy note dissasembly if I'm right)

Hehe. Yeah watched the video how to dissasemble it. But it is the reassembly that i'm worried about.

If that's your 'business phone' I wonder what your 'i just LOVE this phone so I better be carefull with it' is

I am one with exactly same problem, yesterday only I have noticed similar crack at corner of housing, I guess sammy used really cheap plastic got this crack within 2 months from purchase.
update:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Ho...ain_0&var=&hash=item2a1a72435d#ht_4864wt_1037
this should solve the issue..

Yeah it should but then again....it sucks. So pricey phone and then they use so cheap plastic. Firstly i was dissapointed with the battery cover. I loled when i first removed it.
And now this thin frame cracking.
If u decide to change the housing maybe u can make a tutorial for others to see. Including me.
I would not think twice if i was sure i can take it apart and then put it together back again.

Chrome Edging?

Hi Guys
Today the worst thing happened :-o i dropped my note 2 onto concrete.. luckily it hit the corner and hasnt damaged any of the screen or anything.
Unfortunately the chrome edging is scuffed badly on the corner, i know it could be replaced on the original note is this still the case on the note 2?
Would a samsung service centre be able to do it?
Thanks

Of course, but they'll charge you a pretty penny! But you won't be voiding your warranty, though. So that's the plus side of going to their service centers.
Wow..i feel u pain..could share some photo maybe?

The bezel is attached to the back housing and should not be too expensive to replace. 20 bucks on eBay.
I got quoted 130 when I called the service centre.. Mmm maybe they misunderstood

That's probably right from Samsung. Skilled labor costs a lot

Chrome edging?
So sad to hear.... I am not sure if it can be replaced like note 1 or not.... but incase if its not... then buy yourself Aluminium bumber for Note 2 on ebay.com. I am sure it will add a good look and will cover the ugly dent as well.

GG back glass

2 week old flimsy ass suit. I fml! Dropped straight on the back on concrete.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
isn't it obvious when you drop glass, it breaks? i dont find this to be a new scientific study. its common sense, should of bought a case or be a more careful person.
sucks to hear what happened to your phone, you can always get it fixed by LG

My back is just fine! Looks gorgeous too... Not dropping it onto concrete helps a lot. iPhone 4's will break in the exact same scenario, you should of known before you bought it.
Sorry about your back glass, but there are 100 threads just like this.
Thanks for making a pointless thread. :/
Perhaps we need a new thread from everyone who has one with nothing broken or scratched.. Maybe then we could finally stop getting these.. it is nothing personal. I am just tired of seeing s new thread every time someone drops or breaks their phone..
I am really sorry for you that you dropped phone but I am really getting tired of everyone blaming the phone. Everyone that bought this knew it has a glass body. Use a case or be careful..
Sucks when things break man... I know. At least you can send it to lg and they will fix it for a fee. Good luck with it. Hope it works out.
So far mine is good. I have a case though and I also keep a transparent shield on the back. I have dropped mine 3 times, once without the case and it is still perfect.

WHich shield are you using?
expected the unexpected
Please use one of the existing Gorilla Glass, scratch, or drop test threads.
Also, if and when you consider creating any threads in the future, please log out of the Tapatalk app and have the decency to post from the web and use spell check and proper English.
Thanks

Taking silver off Samsung note N7000

A bit off the general topic,
Anyone got any suggestions how to take the silver coating off the casing of the N7000 sides without actually damaging the plastic underneath?
Mines coming off and I would prefer to taken it off?

My recommendation is not to do it - it will leave a black, matt plastiky finish. If you did want to do it, use a fine sandpaper, then very fine sandpaper to smooth it out, then rub oil on it to give it a lustrous finish.
mine is coming off and its so ugly..

As said above use the smallest sand paper you can find and get it off.
I'd now recommend it though... As you could easily damage your phone...
I took it off and it looks great, probably better than before.
Used my wife's nail buffer. Started off with the fine sand paper side. Then moved to the finer side. Finally used the polisher side. It's smooth and there are no scratches anywhere. My buddies couldn't even tell that it was a home job. People asked whether i got a new phone that's how good it came out.
Went through 2 nail buffers but they are so cheap it didn't matter. Probably took me 4 hours while I was watching TV.
Depending on what nail buffer you use, max $4 in total. Cant really see how you could damage the phone as the grit is so fine.

Hi just dropped my xperia z from about 5 foot height onto pavement and the screen is not broken but it isnt responding to any touch.
Is there any chance it can be fixed without fitting a new screen?

just asked the guy who fixes my phones he said bring it in and ill see, said it could be digitizer which if it is then im ****ed.
had enough of this, broke the screen 2 months ago and spent £150 fixing it and £20 for a broken sensor.
arghhhhh.
Flashed a new firmware on it whilst deleting everything on the phone through pc companion but still no luck.
Im confused here, the phone guy said the digitizer is built in with the screen but im checking on ebay and theyre selling a seperate digitizer.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-Touch-S...K_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4d1637f583
So if the screen is ok and digitizer broken would installing a new one fix it?
Let me know please, confused and angry,
Apparently the screen and digitiser are glued together, making it extremely likely that one or the other will break when attempting to separate them.
See this guide on replacing the touchscreen - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417650

It started working all by it self.
Thank god
Hi I'm trying to find a case that will protect my screen something like a thin plastic sheet my mate has such a cover for his iPhone 5.
Or is there a thick screen protector that someone can recommend?

The Nexus 4 - Did it survive ?

After all this time of use with the nexus I made a brief video if the nexus 4 survived well or not. I hope you like it guys and if you do like it then subscribe and share this video

very interesting video. What do you think is the reason for the broken on-screen-buttons?

Could be from a direct fall in the screen since it's not just the onscreen buttons, its the part of the onscreen buttons like even in Fullscreen games this side won't work .
Very interesting problem

Any ideas on a fix ?
Same problem my side. I was advised to replace the digitizer, and apparently this can be caused by normal wear and tear; fortunately for me, the problem resolved itself somehow. No idea whether that can happen to others as well, but still...
Maybe it was rom related or screen was dirty or something dirty was on your screenprotector. For everyone who reads this i recommend a screenprotector and a gel case or someother but gel absorbs the shocks good so the glass wont break and screen protectors protects your screen also a bit from humid weatherm

The navigation bar is very likely to be a kernel problem maybe swipe2wake function.
Try to change it.
Flashing to stock 4.4.3 didn't solve the problem instantly. It took about a week before it came back to normal. Screen protector was okay, it's still clean and clear

How much does it cost ? And I read reports about people getting their batteries changed and it worked also should I just buy another phone?
nice vid
This is very nice and interesting video.
I really like it.
I should make a video about my Nexus 4.
With 1 year and I bet I could sell it as a new phone.
No scratches anywhere, but I use tempered glass screen protector at the front and a normal screen protector at the back.
So the nav bar on my phone stopped working. I had to get the digitizer replaced with a new (probably used) one. This set me back by INR 5500 (under 100$)
Expensive for my small salary, but I would prefer a working phone any day of the week.
