At first hi, welcome to the XDA-community! Second, you are at the wrong place. This is the T-Mobile G1 section, but maybe I can help you. My opinion is taht you just stick to the orginal ROM, because it is a new handset with a good OS. BUT, if you still want to root your phone, go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415223 Though rooting requires basic computering knowledge I give you 1 big caution:
Rooting your phone WILL void your warranty
As you have a new phone, you don't want to do that in case you let it fall and the screen is broken or such. This post does have a easy rooting method so it's dumbed up enough for beginners in rooting. Second step is getting a new ROM (OS, still android). The handset if fairly new, so there are not so many ROMs available. Just google around.
I hope this got you started!
Cheers and welcome to our community!

I don't know how strict people are about "searching" things before posting on the forums, but I rather get yelled at by some nerd on the internet, than to have my $350 device screwed over because I followed the wrong tutorial. Anyways here are my questions:
1) I bought this device from someone brand new, and it came out of the box configured to work with Windmobile, but I was able to get my FIDO SIM card to work by simply inputting it into the device. So does this mean that my device is already unlocked?
2) I still have the old 2.2 version on my phone, and I want the new version (2.3), but since I cannot update the OS from the device itself, I don't know what method I should follow from my computer, also I am afraid that I might lose my unlock (if it is) with the update.
Please link me to the proper tutorial, or give me some insight on my problem, Thank you.
Hey guys/gals
I am seriously considering looking into putting ICS on my Note by using these forums and guides etc (I am a complete knowledgeless noob when it comes to this root/flash etc etc stuff), but I would like to know the following if someone would be kind enough to answer -
1- If I tamper with my device, and if said device ever has to go back to the network operator for repairs etc, how can I wipe everything and revert back to factory settings? is it as simple as hitting factory settings? I would not want them to refuse to service/repair/replace the device if I messed around with it. So is this reversible?
2- what is the best and most simplest way to put ICS on my n7000 if I chose to go down this route and not wait for my UK network operator (Orange) to release their own one? (maybe someone can link me to a good option?)
3- If the part 2 is done, should I get rid of it and use the operator version once they release? or stick with the one I am contemplating installing.
Sorry to be such a pain in the proverbial, would appreciate the help
Kind regards
Barry,

I will try to answer in a short manner.
1. You can allways flash a stock GB or ICS no matter what you might have done to it. Atleast aslong as it is functioning properly.
2. In my opinion the best and simplest way is to flash a stock ICS through PC Oding. Here is a good guide and plenty of Stock Roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
3. I wouldnt get a operator version since they are usually even more bloated than samsungs stock version. And I dont see any benefits with a operator branded version.
Regards
Thank you Belfia,
I will consider this a little more, and it seems that I need to purchase a Micro SD to do all this? so that is next on my to-do list
Regards,
Barry
Hi all, first off, I just bought a sony xperia z off ebay... second hand... and locked on the 3 network!!.
I am wanting to install a custom ROM and unlock the phone... both network and the boot loader?... I would like to wipe the phone clean and start afresh as it has come with lots of unwanted apps and other rubbish!.
Would anyone be kind enough to suggest a good custom ROM and/or a guide to do this?... I am totally new to Android having used iphones all my life so I haven't the faintest idea on how to do this...
I also don't have a PC. so it will have to be done via MAC... The phone model is a C6603 and its running Android version 4.2.2.
Hoping someone can help and any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Will

If you want to unlock the bootloader you might be out of luck as carrier handsets are usually locked down in terms of the BL, for anything else see the stickys.
Hey, as the tittle says I´m stuck in the bootloader of my semi new HTC One. :C
Well the story is that I rooted my phone 2 months ago and installed a new ROM successfully which was great. Now this week I wanted to change back to the stock version and regain my insurance and back all the original futures of my beloved phone. I did a step here with I deeply regret, I formatted my sdcard. (Note this was my first doing any rooting or stuff of that sort). So as I wanted to get the stock ROM to my phone I locked up this video from youtube by Sakitech:- "How to Unroot your HTC One, and Relock the Bootloader". I follow his steps worked well but later I realised none of the RUU files worked with my phone.
So now I´m here with no ROM installed. Can´t get access to the recovery. My phone is relocked (the rooting). Can´t find any RUU file that works for my phone, so far (because I´m from Sweden and have the Nordic version). I´m stuck in the bootloader.
Here´s a picture of it for what it´s worth:
Not allowed to post a picture because of the new user policy >.>
Please help me! If you have a solution explain it with "baby-steps" because I´m not yet experienced with these sort of things. Thank you! <3
Picture?
Can someone post the picture for me if I give the link to that person??? :/ I can send it through email or skype

Your alot like me friend. I'm 16 years old as well, and I had the HTC Desire 510 a11. I can help you out.
You flash the "cm-12.1-20150813-UNOFFICIAL-a11" under boot which is the partition with the boot.img. All you need to do is download the S-off Kernel boot.img and reflash it from Twrp. That will let you boot again and remove read-write protection for full access and modifications to your whole device. Also the "cm-12.1-20150813-UNOFFICIAL-a11" is supposed to be flashed as a flashable zip from "Install" in TWRP. And don't worry about the Boot Logo warning. That's just HTC saying "do not copyright our stuff" so you don't have to worry. If you want to change it there's some threads on how to change the boot logo else where.
Also a suggestion:
Since "cm-12.1-20150813-UNOFFICIAL-a11" was made at the time towards the end of the development for HTC Desire 510 it's really unstable. You might want to flash cm-11 first or another new custom rom before trying cm13. If I still had the device I would help fix cm-12 and make it more stable, I would work on getting Lineage OS on it.
I hope I helped. Leave a thanks if I did.
