I saw this only once, as part of cyanogen rom but I was wondering if there is a standalone way of setting up a reboot button as part of the fly-out menu that comes up when i hold my power button?
I tried searching but all results seem to deal with general power button problems.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone? Just point me in the right direction or something.
i have not heard of a way to add this. but you can install quickboot from the market which is what i use so i never have to touch my power button in fear that it will fail on me over time. quickboot will reboot your phone, or take you right to recovery, etc.
Hi everyone,
I was using my nexus one with low battery, and then it shut down.
I went back to car, attached it to the recharger, and pushed power button.
At this point it turned on and a setup similar to first boot appeared (selection of language, date & time, google account)..
Once the setup was completed, I pressed the home button and associated it with Launcher Pro.
At this point a popup message appeared, saying (translated from italian):
"Sorry! Sudden interruption of the application Launcher Pro (process Android.process.acore). Retry.", with a button named "Retry".
- If I press the "Retry" button, the same popup message appears on and on again.
- If I shut the phone down and restart it, it asks for the SIM pin, the unlock pattern, and then the popup message appears again and again..
- I can't access the menu through the button, and I am stuck in this situation!..
- I tried to uninstall Launcher Pro via appbrain about two hours ago, but with no luck..
Any help would be much appreciated..
Thanks!

Assuming you aren't rooted, I just want to let you know you always have the last resort of resetting the phone back to default, so the phone itself is still fine.
With root, you can ADB and remove LauncherPro.
Hi cigar3tte,
I'm not rooted, so I could "reset the phone back to default".
Do you mean reset it to factory default (aka hard reset)?
Note: If I press the menu button at the bottom of the device, nothing happens and the popup keeps showing up
However, the procedure I found for the hard reset is this:
"With the phone shut off, while holding down the volume button on the side of the N1, press the power button briefly while maintaining the volume button pressed in for around 5-10 seconds.
You should be presented with a menu that allows for: Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock. You can release the volume button at this time.
Select Clear storage with the volume button up and down, then press and release the power button to make the selection.
It will ask you to confirm this decision. Press the yes button using the volume up."
Should i proceed so?
Thanks!

Yes, I meant a factory reset. Before doing so, check for any data you might want to save.
As for the method, what you found should work fine. I've never done a hard reset from the default recovery. I've only done it from the phone itself (which you can't access) and custome recovery.
Hi cigar3tte,
I followed your suggestion and did the shut-off-and-on procedure.
After that, I was asked to complete the initial configuration (time, google account, etc). and I am now on the home screeen!
Thank you so much for your help!
For future reference, you would probably have been able to fix this without wiping... turn the phone on, then when the X appears hold the trackball, it should boot in safe mode and you can remove/clear data as needs be.
AuraxTSense ROM - I know someone having this issue, anything they can try short of full wipe?
Hello Streaks users!
I have bought a Streak 7, two weeks ago. Last friday when I turned on appears the Dell's logo but it never starts. Continues in a loop over and over again. But the main problen is that when I tried to go the configuration screen, it doesn't appears.
Simultaneously press and hold the volume up button and volume down button and without releasing the volume buttons, press and hold the power button, and nothing happens... Only the home, menu and back buttons, gets illuminated.
After several times pressing the power button, I don't know how I managed to start the system in the "safe mode" but almost all the aplications and widgets don't function.
How can I reinstall Official Android 3.2 in my Dell Streak 7 if I can't go to the configuration screen?
Thanks a lot!
Alejandro
I think what you wanting to do is a factory reset option which is to hold the Vol Up button only and press the power button. You should get a menu with the factory reset option.
I've been using CM9 on the touchpad for a long time without any problem. but recently, whenever I tried to reboot the pad by pushing the power bottom, instead of showing the power menu, I got the volume up menu. I can still use the power button to turn on/off the screen. So, it seems the hardware is still OK. I already updated to the latest nightly, still the same problem. Anyone knows what's going on and how to fix it? At least, is there another way to reboot the pad?
Thanks,
Hi guys, as the title says i need to disable the volume + key on my phone cause its broken and it keeps increasing the volume. i managed to change the action of the button when pressed with an app for remapping and root, but since the app auto starts with the os, every time i reboot the phone i get stuck in the recovery for hours till i manage to get out.
So my question is simple, is there a way to disable permantely the button, so that as soon as the phone boots it doesnt detect the key to open recovery and just go to system?

The problem is hardware, you can disable it once on the rom but not on the boot.
Try removing the button or opening the device to fix it.
