Guys i have a problem with Mobile Odin Pro 2.36.. I back to GB [LC1]. Now i wanna CF root. I start Mobile Odin and click allow then i have "Loading... Checking SuperUser support..." No changes after reboot. After reinstall Mobile Odin... WTF ?
You don't have proper root. You'll need to follow Dr. Ketan's guide for rolling back to an early GB build to obtain proper root before upgrading to anything LA* or later.

Then i now install KK6 and some root ;]
That should work. Any tool that uses the ZergRush exploit should get you full root on that build.

Superoneclick is the method I used that worked. It's an app on your computer that u run

z4root is so convenient and easy to use but unfortunately doesn't work on all firmwares. In my experience, you have 2 options:
1) Use SuperOneClick. It's a desktop app and has worked for me on all firmwares that z4root doesn't. The disadvantage here is that your recovery still won't allow you to run unsigned update.zip files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
2) Install a custom kernel that includes root, 2e recovery and other features. There's a bunch in the dev forum but here are 2 examples:

Ok so i tried both and still not working . Just spent an hour searching tinterweb and the talk is that there isnt a root yet for the 2.2.1 jpy update. Is this true?

Hrmm. I haven't seen that although I've not read up on JPY. I understood that JPY was (VERY) similar (or the same) as JPU and I know SuperOneClick works with JPU. Check the oneclick thread for updates on JPY.
i have root on jpy, you can get it by flashing cfroot as PDA..
or flash hardcore kernel as PDA and use simple root + bu on the recovery menu..
it should work.. it did by me
I shall give it another try and will post result. Thanks everyone

Agreed. Flash a kernel with root already enabled.
Took a few goes but managed to get superoneclick to root fone. Thanks very much

Which version of Super One Click?
And what Android Version are you using?
Because SuperOne have added zergRush Exploit in latest version, which is only best working exploit for galaxy Note.
but better to go with latest version of zergRush Exploit (DoomLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit (zergRush Exploit)
ChainFire also using this.

I did try your method at first but just couldn't get it rooted, maybe because I am using win7 64bit.
Anyway, really appreciate your help, maybe can u help me to get your method working?

I have the same setup and it worked fine. I had a problem with the drivers not being installed right. If using Kies turn off usb debug and plug it in so it connects. Then follow the instructions for root.

I used the root tool at unlockroot.com. I am fairly new to this. I couldnt get the root to work using the zergrush exploit for my specific firmware. I was granted superuser access so I am assuming it went well. I guess my main question is how do I manage/add roms to my N7000? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

This program doesn't work on the last couple versions of 2.3.6, the exploit was patched.
I don't see anyone really trying to find exploits in GB with ICS right around the corner
So does that mean that the root didn't work? I have super user access. I need a good way to manage rooms. Maybe I should just revert it back and wait on ics?

Check once your superuser access by installing any app that requires it like Titanium Backup. If everything is fine you should also be having CWM in ur apps and if u dont have it then flash the CF kernel specific to your firmware from this thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
After you are done with all the check then you can go hunting for the available roms on GB and leaked ICS in this forum - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1349
Read the posts....and the features u get in each rom and flash the one you like
Explore and make the best out of your already awesome Note!
Thanks! That helped a lot. I ended up rooting with galaxynoteroot.com instructions and I am running criskelo ics rom now and its great.
I was given a Samsung Galaxy tab 8.9 LTE/sgh-i957 about a year ago for free and it has been pretty good. It is pretty slow compared to new tabs and I don't really need the LTE. My question is should I root it and run a custom ROM or just buy a Nook HD+ for $149.99? I can use hotspots on my phone from anywhere so the internet connection isn't an issue. I am just curious if I will even notice a speed increase on the sgh-i957 with a cleaner non-bloated ROM at it's age.
What version of android are you running now? If it's gingerbread you'll see a large change in performance if you go to ics. Cm10 and ics run about the same on my i957. I'm rooted.

To root do.the following:
Download twrp onto your computer http://d-h.st/dx3 Flash it in Odin, PDA
Download superSU-busybox on to your phone http://d-h.st/vjq. Flash that with twrp
You will be rooted. I've assumed you are familiar with Odin and flashing custom roms.

Familiar with rooting, Yes, have done it many times on many phones, current LG Optimus G is rooted. Familiar with Odin, No, this will be my first time using it, but I am a reader and will not do anything unless I am sure.

Best guide for Odin is in the i727 skyrocket development forum. There is a sticky by vincom that is a return to stock / Odin guide. Just follow it with the tab specific files. I'm on my mobile or I'd link you to it. Twrp, you flash just like you would a stock Rom. Pay attention to what what options are checked in Odin. You only want auto, reboot, never re-partition

Thanks, got it rooted and froze a bunch of apps but it is still pretty slow. I guess I will be upgrading because Magazines look amazing on the 1280p Nook HD+ display too.
I've never had any hiccups rooting any galaxy always choosing chainfire method .
Just picked up s6 and updated to 5.1.1
As I'm looking around posts it's not telling me a lot about root options without any issues ..I see more about issues on 5.1.1 camera issues etc...after root and having to flash boot.bin ?
What is the current safest method to root the 5.1.1 update ,Is it still using chainfire 5.0.2 root
Last thing I want is problems .
A link and quick rundown would be awesome
Like i mentioned I've never felt the need ever to ask about rooting any galaxy s4 S5 etc.... except this time seems necessary

I am having the same issue as OP. I don't know how he feels about it, but I don't care about KNOX! Help! Pingpong seemed the safest alternative after multiple attempts using ODIN always resulting in soft brick. Pinpong apparently isn't updated for the S6 even though I got the link in the T-mobile thread for the S6

I thought that method only gives you a temp root as it causes issues with calling and/or wifi, so you use it just to unlock then revert back to gain functionality?

The first method jeffrelyn_ posted is what you need if you don't care about Knox. Issues with calling were only when the method was first created, but has been patched for a while now so no issues, and it is a permanent root
The engineering bootloader is the only method that has a problem because the fingerprint reader does not function

Alright, if you don't care about KNOX:
Get the correct version of TWRP for your device. Flash using ODIN. Might as well flash the latest bootloader and modem if you haven't done so already (flash entire firmware package if you can't find the modem/bootloader only).
Now, grab the latest Unikernel from the Unified Development forum. Flash using ODIN/TWRP, your choice (pick the right one!).
Download SuperSU from the Play Store. ??? Profit!

I already have the correct version of TWRP for my phone but I don't know how to go about flashing it with ODIN. I'm kind of new to Samsung and ODIN and I am kind of ignorant to this whole process, but I want to learn!!
So I just flash TWRP directly?

I mean flash it to the phone using ODIN directly as I do not have root yet. Which I thought would make TWRP useless
