[Q] problem of 4.0.3 ROM German version, unrooted - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have encountered a problem and need some help pls...
I recently flashed to 4.0.3 official rom German version (not leaked version), unrooted. I downloaded the firmware from samsung-updates.com, upgraded the phone, everything worked fine.
However, i found out recently that sometime if i left phone idle, the battery drains really quickly. say if i charged it up to 100% and left it over night, next morning, it will only have 60% left.
firstly, i went to Settings, then Battery, i found out even when the screen is OFF, the is still keep on "awake" -ing, i then downloaded CPU spy, i can see that when the battery drains quickly, CPU was constantly operating in 200MHz, something must be running in the background all the time.
I also downloaded betterbatterystatus, i have checked the wakelocks, everything worked fine.
I wonder if any of you guys have the same problem.
This does not happen often, and i believe restart the phone can "cure" it temporarily, but it will come back you dont know when...
btw, i have turned off google+ services.
please help and excuse my English.
Thanks

bump

You have Wifi on? Or added a new app recently? I usually reboot my phone when I install a new app since last time I installed a new app there was battery drain issue.

This helped making my phone deep sleep and decreasing battery drain
0.go to settings > sound and turn off touch sounds and screen lock sounds
These steps stop the kernel wakelock 100% problem:
1.turn on aeroplane mode
2.turn off device
3.take out battery for 10 seconds
4.turn on device
5.wait for everything to load
6.turn off aeroplane mode

Take a look at this blog article

I had the same issue and solved it by doing the following steps:
1. Allow a charge to 100% to occur
2. Before you unplug the charger, unlock your phone to the homescreen
3. Restart your phone
After doing this, I noticed my phone goes into deep sleep and my battery lasts longer throughout a day.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

Mine did that, but I did the charge up, airplane mode, shutdown trick and it
fixed it.
Got a friend on an older galaxy captive, he finally got around to upgrading to GB,
and his was rooted before the update and he forgot to unroot before the update.
After the update, part of the old root program was running all the time sucking his battery down. After he figured out a way to get rid of it, the problem with battery drain stopped.
If the charge, airplane, shutdown trick doesn't work, download something like CPU Spy and see what's taking up the battery. Could be something left over from GB still running.

I was having a heating problem when charging the device (Battery temperature above 46C) and huge battery drain.
This was fixed after following the above steps.

I had this issue too.
If (and only if) you're rooted and know how to use it... try setCPU. Recommended settings and ondemand + set on boot.. gonna try this for a few days and post the results

I had that problem initially and I *think* it was related to having WiFi enabled even while the phone was supposed to be asleep. Have a look at this thread for a few ideas which may (or may not) help....

Sorr to double my post, but...
So, I found the problem.
This is kernel wakelock, wlan_rx_wake.
Many people also suffered from this problem on Nexus.
The issue directly related to Dynamic IP/DHCP on your network. Due to kernel fault, wi-fi module can'to go into deep sleep, and therefore drains the battery. Not much, but about 2-3% per hour.
Goddamn Samsung devs.

Hmmm i dont have any kernel wakelock, deep sleep works how it should. Maybe you have installed any app which gives that wakelock

I don't know...very same set of apps, as it was on lp5 and lp6 repacks, and there the battery life was significantly better, than now. There is deep sleep, just in "kernel-wakelock" I'm seeing this wi-fi issue. And it not happens on mobile network.

that worked perfectly for me!!! Many thanks!!!
Left my WiFi and Latitude/Maps running and apps and FB updating over night..
100% charge.
7 hours 38Min 85% remaining
Running odex stock rooted German LPY ROM. Flashed from mobile Odin Pro with injected SU and everrott and ALL wipes checked.
By some standards this may be poor. I am extremely happy with these results given I run everything all the time. I usually am charging every night. I decided to leave it off charge last night to see if I had excessive drain.

I seem to have a problem with the calendar storage... whatever that means. Restarting, taking battery out etc. didn't help. And the problem is that the phone is getting hot too. Any suggestions please?

I seem to have a problem with the alarm amanger not letting mine go into deep sleep.
3545 wakelocks over a 2 hour period!!!
I have 2 daily alarms set in the stock clock.
Surely this shouldn't be preventing the phone from sleeping?
Or is it related to some other app?
Well one of the things i've noticed is that while charging my phone never goes to deep sleep, it remains on 200mHz. If i take it off the charger it will go to deep sleep.
I've read about a similar problem with the original samsung car holder /charger. As it seems while charging in landscape mode and receiving a call gives a problem. Without the charger all seems to be fine.
In my opinion i think it's rom related (wow, did figure it out myself) but i think it's also related with the usb port. Try it and you will see....
Hope this helps someone.

Deep sleep problem

Hello world,
I just noticed this disturbing issue. I lost about 16% battery in one night. When I looked at battery state I noticed alot of tiny little wake moments during the night.
What kind of application can cause this? Or are there any known bugged apps that cause this?
Wakker is dutch for Wake

. THE Galaxy Notes when goes into standby (screen off) should go into deep sleep mode is a mode that allows you to keep to a minimum processor frequency to conserve the battery. Unfortunately, between the various firmware updates that we do and the various programs that we install (some of these work in backround without noticing it) can happen that the Note is no longer able to enter deep sleep mode remains fixed at 200mhz even while on table with display off.
To find out if our notes go into deep sleep, just install the free CPU Spy download here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5idmFsb3Nlay5jcHVzcHkiXQ..--- If your notes do not enter into deep sleep the greater the percentage occupied by the item above, or 200mhz. The fact that it is a 200mhz is quite useless to us since we're not doing anything with the device as it should be on standby at that time. It happens so that at night, leaving the device on but without the latter is used, however, so battery consumption (having remained fixed at 200mhz) and the following morning surprise that we find the percentage of low power.
To overcome this problem needs to be done in the following way: Deep Sleep Guide
- Go into settings and remove the following tones: sound freezes the screen and sound selection - Set the device in flight mode - Turn off the device - Remove the battery for 10 seconds - Power on the device - Wait until everything is loaded - Remove Airplane mode
And that's it. The Notes should regularly go into deep sleep after doing this guide. To check everything just to keep notes on standby for about ten minutes and see if The candidates and the percentage of deep sleep increases.
Hi
Even I face this battery issue....it is severe in my case. I hardly get 14 HRS of battery life even after about 30 charging cycles
I've installed CPU spy, I found that the CPU stays in 200Mhz, for testing purpose I had kept my cell phone untouched in flight mode for about 12hrs but still I lost more 50% of battery.
I had tested the battery by completely charging it, it just drains before my eyes . . .
I don't know if this is deep sleep issue. please help me.

1. Flash and test different kernels in case of battery drain. Some are easier on your battery than the others. 2. Use Titanium Backup to freeze or uninstall crapware. This list is a useful guide as to what can/can't be removed from your system: https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...SENVeXlqUm5vV0E&single=true&gid=0&output=html 3. Set Brightness to low value, disable autobrightness 4. Disable or scale down vibration and haptic feedback 5. Automatic syncing of your accounts is battery consuming. Sync manually if you can 6. Set screen timeout to 15 seconds 7. Disable fast dormancy (dial *#9900# and do it from there) 8. Don't keep your WiFi/Packet Data on all the time. However, if you must have WiFi on the second you wake up your phone, go to Settings/Wireless and Network/Wi-Fi settings - once in Wi-Fi Settings, hit the menu button (the bottom left one), choose Advanced/Wi-Fi sleep policy/When Screen Turned Off. This way your connection will toggle on/off depending on your screen on/of state 9. Disable location services via wireless networks - are you travelling that fast that you need those? 10. GPS is heavy on the battery, therefore use it sparingly
And don't use Juice or any other battery 'defenders': they keep running in the background and consume your juice by trying to save it. Not to mention other problems they can (and often do) create.
Hope this helps.
Download BetterBatteryStats and look for wakelocks (partial and kernel). Google them if you don't know what they do. Then uninstall them or fix them somehow.

I downloaded better battery stats, found that the process l2_hsic was stopping my phone from going to deep sleep mode. I tweaked the wifi settings and the battery life increased exponentially.
Thanks better battery stats

My galaxy note 2 battery is draining fast and the "android os" is at about 65% at end of day and now my battery last about 10 hours. I was trying to follow your instructions above but got lost trying to find the settings to remove some tones you mentioned. Which tones are you speaking of.

Phone: Galaxy Note N7000 Blue/Black version
Does anyone know wat's causing my phone to not be able to go into deep sleep mode?
I already made sure not to pull the charger while it's screen off.
I have betterbatterystats installed.
what should i set to see what's causing it all; kernel wakelocks, partial wakelocks, processes, alarms?
and under settings, wakelock percent of time of what; time on batt, time awake, time awake minus time with screen on?

They say pull your charger out when your screen is on and unlocked...not when its off. I would also recommend restarting phone that usually helps. If that doesnt help. Turn on airplane mode, turn off phone, remove battery for 20 secs or whatever, then put battery back in, restart phone, turn off airplane. That usually gets you back to deep sleep but the issue will come back. At least that is what I experience in ICS.
what i said, I already made sure not to pull the charger while it's screen off.
what you thought i said, i already made sure to pull the charger while it's screen off.
restarting the phone helps but i have to do it everytime it doesnt go into deep sleep mode.? i've tried the other method you mentioned already too. does anyone know wat's the process multi_pdp and l2_hsic?
sorry for the mistake.
This is what I have now done after having bad battery issues.
1) Rooted phone using Dr. Ketans method.
2) changed kernel to Abyss thru CWM
3) wiped cache/davlik/etc thru Abyss
4) installed Criskelo v7
5) changed kernel to SpeedMods latest.
phone has been going for 24hrs with still 25% left in the tank. GPS Google maps for an hour or so. Texts...basically all the stuff I was doing before on stock except the difference is I didnt need to charge it once like I would have already needed to do.
Not sure if you are into all the stuff that I did but it has made a gigantic difference.
does anyone here in the forums who can work well around the problem if i were to post screenshots from my phone's betterbatterystats app??

[Q] [ICS]Automatic shut down problem

I have used Tonyp 28g, Topogigi 30a and Dj 30a,
i look over the thread but no one get auto shut down problem(maybe i miss out..)
Problem only occur when i use ICS.
cm7/9/10, gb, froyo didn't have this issue.
My phone will shut down after a time in standby mode,
i don't know how long standby the phone will shut down, but occur under 50% battery mostly.
I can switch on it after shut down without charging and having more than 20% battery left.
Attached pic are the battery status, when the battery drop to 0% it will shut down. in first photo i just accidentally screen on the phone and it stopped to drop, back to normal.
Sorry for my bad english
could i use lumberjack to logcat the problem?is it locate at lastkmsg?
try again a fresh install, den after boot once then boot to recovery wipe dalvic, battery stat, then fix permission.. if you use topo build, flash the other kernel.. after a 1st boot from clean install..
auto matic shutdown happen for me also with ICS. the frequency is like in 2 or 3 days. once. waiting for some sort of solution

thanks for the advice, but it doesn't help,
may be i have to keep my phone battery above 50% at outdoor,
may be i can just plug in the phone most of the time even sleeping,
may be i should wait for LG/dev bugfix, since i have already wait one and half year for cm10 and ICS, wait is what i can do
just hoping my o2x can hold on until i buy nexus 4 at a reasonable price

Battery Drain issues

I have been facing issues with Battery Drain in Samsung Galaxy S Advance i have tried all possible options

any help will be greatly appreciated.
What did you do with your device in those 2hrs?
Try a wake lock detector. See if any apps are causing wake locks.

Make sure that brightness is not full, set it down to lowest and test battery again. If you'll use the Power Saving mode, it'll easily give you 2-3 hours extra, try turning it on and see if it makes a difference.
Some users also suggest draining your entire battery and then charging it continuously for 5-6 hours switched off. That shows better backup results as well.

And the maximum brightness that is not why the battery drained so fast. In just 2 hours battery too low. Try a battery recalibration and uninstall the application that processes in the background.

Yea, on the screenshot there is no point where battery was 100%.
Discharge battery untill phone shuts down, then charge it to 100% when it is off.
