Hello, what is the best ROM for ICS on Samsung Galaxy S? I'm fed up of stock ROM being slow and want something fast and want ICS I've never flashed before and downloaded "Onecosmic's ICS Port Android 4.0.3 RC2.11" but don't have a clue on how to start flashing it, as he hasn't made a noob tutorial
Any help would be appreciated.
How about trying teamhacksung's ICS port aka soon to be CM9 rom? Just follow the guide on the first page.

But I'm a noob :-( I don't even know how to root or put CWM on... what ROM would you recommend for noob like me, ICS one or CM7? I Just want something really fast that will make games smoother and that works fully....
Do you know how to flash a kernel via Odin? You will be rooted and have CWM automatically once you flash a custom kernel. I would recommend you to use a custom GB rom, as not all apps are compatible with ICS and more bug free.

oh ok.. is the standard CM7 the fastest ROM then?
In my opinion, no. Perhaps you would want to try the Simplicity rom.
Hi, i was going to update my SGS to firmware 2.3.6 xxjw4 from 2.3.5 xxjvt (via kies) and was wondering if the semaphore jvt_1.9.1 kernel would be ok or is there a better or specific one?? Thx
I flashed 2.3.6 with the latest semaphore kernel(2.5) and it went well.you should be okay
Well yeah it would work, but I don't see why you'd stick to gingerbread or any stock rom while you can try custom ICS Rom ... my SGS is rocking one of those now and it's totally great
Thx
Updated it and works well...but now in the process of installing ICS so thx for the help
Ok im so sorry if this has been covered.. I bet it has but i cant find it. When i got the phone i updated to XXLQ2 i now want to get on cm9 with stock ics. Is it safe on my kernel? If not what is the best/safe way to flash back to a 2.3 rooted rom?

I can answer your question partially. The advised method to go to CM9 from amy ICS ROM is to go to a stock GB ROM first. Hopefully someone will better answer your question, and you're right that it has been covered several times in the CM9 thread.

NO!!
All released ICS Firmwares have the Brick Bug.
I think it's enough to flash a safe Kernel (like Speedmod) before flashing cm9
Thanks. flash speedrom.
Hiya
Was thinking of reverting back to stock ICS 4.0.4 but with all the unsafe kernel stuff going on I was wondering, what is the best way to proceed?
I want to revert because I feel that the stock rom was overall more stable and always "worked", but I dont want to brick my phone and I'd like to be able to change rom if something better comes along
Currently im running the stable GT n7000 release from cynagenmod, with CWM 6.0.1.0
So any pointers?

If your on ics better be in safekernel like notecore, speedmod, or goku.
Flash gb rom first and do the 3 wiping before flashing the ics, use pc odin. This is clean install, its the best way before installing an ics.
Just flash ics using pc odin.
And dont forget to be on safe kernel after flash.
