Search youtube abt how to change rom...
There are quite good and detailed instructions about it

there is lots of ways to put x recovery on youtube using root explorer ect, but if you want cwm recovery there is a cwm auto installer on the market, dont forget to make a backup tho
I think it's easier to install xrecovery. You just need root explorer or something similar. And don't forget to do a full wipe right after installing the rom.

Just to be clear any rom needs open bootloader, it needs custom kernel. To flash custom kernel u need open bootloader.
But yeah my money is on GingerDX...
PrimeHD, used it once for a week, so many deem bugs....
I think atifroyo 5.2 is best Cm6 rom and best gingerbread rom is for me primehd 8 this is mine opinion.

Its up to you, mine got bricked while flashing a new kernel after i unlocked in gingerxperia (2.3.7)
however when i did everything again while on 2.1 it did work
tried few times unlocking the bootloader other than 2.1 and always failed..
from my own experience 2.1 has better chance of succeed.
Do I have to use stock 2.1 or it's also okay with customized 2.1?

what do u mean by customized? installing themes, launcher, etc? as long as you customize the original rom i think it will be ok.
If you're not sure it's better to download the original stock room.

You can unlock bootloader of W8 with Flash Tool.I have unlocked BL of my W8 successfully.If not detected automatically, you have to select your device as E15i.

What is the condition now? you can select your device in PCC and attempt repair. You can get back to stock kernel and ROM.

how did you survive unlock BL using w8? my w8 got dead after succesfull unlock BL using flash tool 0.5.3.0. Now, i just wait the repairman to fix it. 7 days already

I was using miniCM7.0.6, had sony certificate for simlock and I unlocked the bootloader yesterday, with success.

I returned to stock eclair using the files in B.jay's cloud share but now i can't flash new roms .... (it stucks in CUSTOM kernel logo)... i thought this maybe because of relocking bootloader so i tried to unlock it using CMD files but it said : process is not permitted. and exited./
SO NOW WHAT SHOULD I DO TO UNLOCK IT AGAIN OR ANY OTHER WAYS?
Try updaten ur fone via update service an start over .use flashtools to unlock bootloader . Guess it will help u.

Reflash stock rom and kernel.
Root your phone.
Unlock the BL on your phone.
Flash a custom rom and kernel if needed.
FULL WIPE and wipe cache and dalvik cache then reboot.

Have you flashed an Alfs compatible rom, then full wiped and wiped cache and dalvik cache?

everything is right..look URself:
flashed Alfs v8a using flashtool and then flashed Gingerzaraki v4 using CWM...
Also tired with MiniCM7 2.2.1 ....

Try with nAa ics kernel and MiniCM9. Does your baseband end in 015? Oh and reflash stock with PC Companion or SEUS first before retrying the steps.

I used this file to restore Eclair...and also PCC showed a update notify but i couldn't update it because of an update failure...
phone boots up in stock ROM ...
but i have not checked the baseband.

Yes, but only those for stock kernel. GingerDX and some others work on stock kernel.

dont flash presto,you will have soft brick, it requires custom kernel...so unlocked bootloader, just go for gingerdx!

How to use:
Use custom recovery, such as CWM Recovery, choose restore. And you are good to go.

I think i can tell you why... you all have a v20 bootloader after the flash, but to be able to use this ROM, you ll need v30b bootloader... you could extract it from the bin image, add it to the .zip, extract it to the proper partition on the phone and it should work.
BUT! Dont do it please. You risk to permanently brick your device...!

Not using SFT will not change your bootloader, as mentioned by nooby. Unless we can use another method.

Yes you misundersrood, but a lot ppl did, there is no locked bootloader. The new ICS kernel seams to have a check in it, so eather use a different kernel or recompile the kernel without that check (I think that is what nooby did).
Correct me if I'm wrong, that is just what I think, but it works on my P970 so it might be right.

i have w8 ei6i with manufacturing code 11w28 and want to get rid of stock 2.1.
i have only rooted my mobile via flashtool having superuser. i want to unlock bootloader and wanna to install gingerbread. i wanna tutorials and i google it bt it was very confusing,so if u guys can provide me a link for custom rom which supports w8 as it is very confusing to tell which x8 rom support w8 and same goes to unlocking boot and having cwm as recovery for w8.
