Otterbox case muting sound? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I just got an Otterbox Commuter case for my Vivid and I really like it. People have been complaining that I sounded muffled or muted. I tried reflashing ROM (Dark Raider...great) but still the same. Went back to stock (rooted of course) and the no change. I got a call from somebody I talk to regularly while I had the Otterbox off to put a new screen protector on and he said I sounded a lot better, as good as I did with my old Inspire. So I put the case back on and called him back, muffled again. Took the case off and called back again, clear as crystal. The hole in the silicon case appears to line with the hole for the microphone but maybe I'm missing something. This happening to anyone else or is it just me.
I saw the other post about mic issues but this seemed different since I could easily create the muffle/mute by putting the case on and clear things up by taking it off. I'm thinking of trying another case, maybe the Sedio Surface.

I don't know if this may help, but I had an lg thrill that did the same thing with a ballistic case. Check to see if the case has a foam or rubber mount near the mic. I removed it and it worked great.

That is what I did and it worked. Wound up getting a Seidio case anyway.

[Q] Case with Kickstand

I am looking for a Case with a Kickstand, preferrably that covers or has a leading edge over the front screen to protect that. Help would be greatly appreciated.
The Otterbox, Defender Series has a kick stand. I assume youre using an Evo?

No, I'm using a Galaxy S GT-i9000
Try this case http://cgi.ebay.com/galaxy-s-I9000-STANDING-CASE-Protection-Film-BLACK-/180556528903?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a0a01fd07#ht_720wt_972
Most awesome case ive ever used. My phone now never lays flat on its back. Been using it for 6 months now and case is sturdy with no sign of wear and tear. kickstand is holding up very well. And be sure to buy from the seller i posted. Hhis account name is Udamoa and he provided me with great service. My first case came with some bumps on the back and he promptly sent me a new one foc!

Incredible "bumper" case?

Does any manufacturer make a "bumper"-style case for the Incredible? I'm looking for something like the iPhone bumper cases, where the case only wraps around the four side edges of the phone, leaving the back exposed.
I'm really just looking for something to cover the sides and corners - has anybody seen anything like this?
no, and why would you only want it covering the sides?
I have the white battery cover, and I like the look of it, but I want to protect the corners against drops.
Doesn't verizon still sell the clear plastic case that snaps on? Its what I've got on mine. It doesn't obstruct the viewing of the back, and it protects the silver on the HTC logo too (I've heard that'll eventually come off and become black).

ebay has hundreds
Or you could find a cheap case and take a dremel to it.
Look up this case I think you might like it. "Speck Candyshell HTC Incredible"
Boxwave makes a clear TPU style flexible case, like the Amzer/VZW cases. Link below....

What's wrong with your reveal case?

Nothing! This thread was made BEFORE I got the Reveal case, made the other thread, or filmed that video. That was my solution.

Anyone Still Using A Rearth For Thier Nexus?

I'm curious to see how well they hold up after all this time? And if anyone sprung for the Ringz audio cap?
I'm still using it and noticing the texture of it is starting to fade away.
Particularly on the chin part of the phone (and edges).
I'm using it and having the same thing happen as the post before mine. Mine came with an audio cap and well I lost it haha.

I switched to the Seidio Active after about a month with the Ringke. I did get the combo with screen protector and audio cap; both of them have been fine. The audio cap fits with the Active, so that's nice.
Anyway, as far as the Ringke goes, I carry my phone in my pocket and after a bit the edges became loose and weren't tight to the phone anymore. I was able to remedy it for a little while by wrapping a rubberband around the Nexus itself to act as a spacer between the phone and the loosened case, but that was hardly an ideal solution.
The chin was loosing a little of the laser etching towards the end but it was hardly an issue.
Slightly off-topic:
There is a disappointing dearth of hard cases for the Nexus S. I'm pleased with the Active but an all-hard case would be nice. I looked at the Case-Mate Pop! and the Seidio Surface but they booth looked even bulkier than the Active as well as killing the shape of the phone (hence me trying the Ringke first). I wish Incipio made a Nexus S case aside from the Feather.

The coating does not hold up very well.... I am quite disappointed. I had asked to RMA mine as I had only had it for 3 weeks but I couldn't because I had thrown away the box

I am. Sadly, the color on the back has faded. But, I still love the case because it is incredibly thinner than all of the ones currently available.
I am thinking of switching to an Incipio Feather. Does anyone know if that case is thinner than the Rearth Ringke?
Or are there any other thinner cases out there?

Need a Tough Case

Hey guys, my sister is going to get getting a nexus s but needs a good case.
She works at a barn so the phone will literally be covered in crap.
I was thinking something on the lines of an otterbox defender, which covers the entire phone. However that's not available for this phone.
So does anyone know of a similar case for the nexus s?
Thanks a lot.
This plus a screen protector? I'm pretty sure this case wraps around the front of the phone a bit so if you paired it with a good screen protector the only openings would be the earpiece, speaker, USB and headphone jack. (i'm sure you can buy plugs for the last 2)

Try Cyclops cases:

I use that one when I'm doing military trainings, it has a soft plastic screen cover and also covers the camera lens. has plugs for every connection.

My review of the MoKo Slim-fit Cover (Carbon Fiber)

This is the first clip-on style case I've ever bought for one of my electronic products. I have always hated the bulkiness that these type of cases add on to what started out as a sleek and slim device. However, as I use my Nexus for reading while at work, I really didn't want to have to carry a sleeve and a stand in addition to the device itself.
This case perfectly satisfies my need for protection, but still manages to keep the Nexus very slim overall. I love the integrated stand feature, both angles work great depending on whether I feel like slouching or sitting up straight. The material that is used does have a slight odor, but nothing that I can smell without putting it right up to my nose. I also can't smell it on my hands after holding it, so that's a plus.
The integrated strap is a bit tight for my large hand, but I'm not sure I'd use it anyway. The magnet in the cover works perfectly for putting the Nexus to sleep when closed and waking it when open. It does not put it to sleep when folded over backwards. There is a piece of elastic included that you can use to "lock" the case into the stand position, and it does definitely "lock" it in, but I didn't find it was necessary at all, the device is totally stable without using it.
Overall, I would highly recommend this case for your Nexus. I don't think you'll be disappointed at all!

I ordered this case before reading this so this post just got me excited for delivery. Thanks anyway!

Let me know what you think after you receive it...
Nice review. I am now considering this case for my N7. The outer layer looks very sexy for the slim N7.
Got this today. The black leather looks really nice. The elastic is for holding the cover flat when folded all the way back. Works great. Looks like a case costing twice as much. Time will tell how well it holds up.
Holes for speakers?
I noticed that the part that covers the speaker has holes. Do the places between those holes suppress the sound? (I've already read some not so encouraging reviews about the weak Nexus 7 speakers )
I rarely use the speakers so I'm not the best one to answer... Hopefully someone else will.
Been using this case for a little over a month, and I absolutely love it. Slim, speak, and functional. I prefer the standard black over carbon fiber.

Never noticed a difference in speaker quality while using the case. In fact, it sounds better if you have the case in stand mode.

Got mine a few days ago and I'm not all that happy. Functions fine and all but I would have liked the regular black better I think because the carbon layer doesn't seem flush in places. Like it needed more glue or something and it is coming up in places. The regular black is sewn in, not glued so that is why I think I would have preferred that one. Just my 2 cents.

Your carbon fiber isn't sewn like mine is in the pictures?
I may be willing to trade my all black for the CF one. Mind taking pictures?
Regardless pretty sure these cases come with lifetime warranty....?

Now that i look at it it is sewn but after the stitch it is coming up. Some parts feel alright and some parts seem like it needs more glue.

I can do that if you don't mind that I cut off the stylus holder.

I thought about removing the stylus holder on mine too... hopefully your peeling carbon fiber is an anomaly!
I have this case as well. Solid black leather. I highly recommend this case.
Sound Quality: Sound is no different with or without the case on. I am using the Nexus Louder patch.
** Sound is perceived to be louder when in stand mode, as it's creating acoustics and the sound waves are bouncing back forward. Same concept as if you cup your hand behind it.

Nice background - can you share it?
I used the Wallbase HD app to find it, highly recommended.
Also have this case. Its great!. Only the stylus placement is a bit ...
