Missing /preinstall file(s) - Motorola Droid 4

I'm trying to load .206 on my phone using the recovery menu. My guess is that when it gets to verifying some of the 3gp video's in /preinstall/KnowYourDevice that it plans to patch I'm missing some. I was able to find a few of them from another dump but I can't locate Motorola_XT894_UsingYourDevice.3gp and I might need Motorola_XT894_WiFiSetup.3gp as well. If anyone could put me to which stock rom has those I can handle it from there. Thanks.

Are you coming from gingerbread 6.13.219 or .215? Did you update to ICS with the .200 zip? Provide more info to see where I can help

clear lock bar help

im running fresh 2.1.2 and i tried to use the metamorph the other guy posted and it failed
can anyone help me go about clearing the lock bar? im very new modding and such.
please dont flame me for not knowin how to do this. if anyone can point me in the right direction or even have the file to do so that would be very helpful. thank you
It's likely the MetaMorph file you are trying to apply is not compatible with the most recent MM application, assuming you are updated to the latest version.
You can convert the .thm file to a .xml file in the zip you download using this utility, in order to get any older MM files to work again.
yes you are correct i have the updated MM
thank you for the link

[Q] Creating .img Files for Cooking Custom Rom

Hello:
I'm interested in creating and maintaining a custom rom for the Samsung Galaxy S. I've read a ton of tutorials and guides - on site and off - but I'm unable to get started due to one small problem.
After downloading the base firmware I'd like to use (specifically UGJK3 - firmware for Bell Canada) and opening it, I see a .tar file, and within that I see the following files:
param.lfs, zImage, modem.bin, cache.rfs, factoryfs.rfs.
I've mounted the .rfs files, but I'm still unable to cook the rom due to the absence of the system.img and boot.img files. I'm using the HTC Android kitchen to cook the rom, and it requires these files (or an update.zip file, etc) in order to start cooking.
I've searched far and wide, but I'm unable to find an answer on how to create these two .img files from the stock firmware provided by Samsung.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
So, I've done a bit more research and apparently the way Samsung handles their firmware is different than other manufacturers. This leads me to believe that I must convert their rom into a usuable format before attempting to import it in the HTC Kitchen.
However, I'm unsure how to exactly do this.
I'm going to try flashing the stock firmware then performing a nandroid backup, then using that to create my custom rom. It'd be much, much easier if I knew how to just create the .IMG files from the Samsung firmware.
Anyone have an idea on how to do this?
Last bump before I give up.

Can't install OTA using Mobile Odin, Odin and CWM

I downloaded a zip file from sammobile.com's OTA files section. The ZIP contains the following files:
debug_info ==> 1kb (size)
delta.hidden ==> 856kb
delta.modem ==> 1kb
delta.platform ==> 84455 kb
delta.Sbl ==> 1280kb
delta.ua ==> 241 kb
delta.zImage ==> 4936kb
the ZIP file won't install using Mobile Odin, Odin, and CWM. In mobile Odin, it says that the file is not an OTA / Update ZIP file, and merely extracted the contents.
the filename of the downloaded file is GT-N7000_SMA_93970111.zip.
any idea how i can install the OTA file?
I have tried searching this forum and google, but to no avail. it appears that nobody knows how to use the ZIP file.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
What was your purpose in downloading this OTA file anyway? A firmware zip file either contains a single file with "tar.md5" as the extension or 3 files for CSC, Modem/phone and PDA file all of which are recognized automatically by mobile odin or can be loaded on PC odin. I don't think sammobile has files for CWM. No idea about the several files that are contained on the one you downloaded. From the size of the files alone we can conclude that this is NOT firmware as normal size is 600-900 MB.
What I understand from the word OTA is Over The Air and as such can only be used either within the device itself to update or thru kies.
Good luck!
I think it is a very specific scenario to use ota.
The ota file probably need you to have previous released versions of csc installed.
Dont know much about mobile odin.
I think ota is a new feature in mobile odin. Best to check cf mobile odin thread.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
when Mobile Odin extracts the zip file you'll get a.md5 file. After the extraction just select this md5 file in Mobile Odin and you're good to go
According to the OP there is no md5 file contained on the zip file.
As per sammobile:

AFAIK OTA updates are firmware specific.You must be on certain firmwares to flash the OTA.For exampleTA update yyy may need you to be on xxx firmware for it to work.But sadly I dont know how to flash it....
Could it be that you have to be totally stock unrooted to be able to flash it via stock recovery (3e)? If that's the case the OTA .zip must be stored in external sd. I don't think need to rename it to update.zip, because we can still flash any .zip with the right signature on 3e. Thinking of trying on my Note but it has been 'out of flashed' for close to a month!

No, it's not necessary (and it's not what I meant about the whole thing).

then tell us what do you want to do? the 3e recovery wont take the file even if it is renamed or not... I've got totally unrooted and on stock.

[4.3] 1/14/14 i537 AT&T OTA file

This is the .cfg file of the 4.3 OTA for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active (i537) from AT&T on 1/14/14 for those who are unable to receive OTA because they are not on MF3. (The file doesn't download as a zip via OTA)
Using this on another device would likely cause problems so I wouldn't suggest it.
Also, I did not update because I want to keep root.
Instructions:
1) Download the .cfg file (links below)
2) Copy it over to your phone's internal storage
3) Using a root manager app like 'ES File Manager' or 'Root Browser', copy the .cfg file from internal storage to /data/fota
4) Make sure you have KNOXAgent.apk and wssyncmldm.apk in /system/app for this to take place. A lot of people either changed the name, deleted, or moved the apk for rooted purposes.
**If you replaced Knox and wssync, you MUST reboot for effects to take place since the odex tells the apk what to do on boot**<<
5) Go to Settings>More>About Device>Software Updates>Continue Update
OR the method below which worked for some people (I can't confirm this works or not)
1) Download .cfg file (links below)
2) Change file to a .zip
3) Copy to phone's external storage (the internal will get wiped)
4) Flash via regular recovery
MD5 for .cfg file: F43D00ABDC4FE4D5BFB305CC6598FEB3
If you run into any problems, I won't be much help since I'm not a dev.
REMEMBER! You will lose root with the update. Don't say you didn't know because the warning is here<<<<

Loading it to Google Drive right now. Bandwidth got capped on Dropbox, any suggestions for a place to upload it?
Would it be possible to get some help getting some stock files from the /system/app folder? I modded/removed a few of the stock apps and seem to have lost a big chunk of my original backups. I believe these apps are why the update fails for me as the updater script checks a bunch of the files SHA1 checksums. Seeing as on my phone these apps are missing or modded I figured if I could acquire the stock copies it may finally work.
Files I need, and corresponding odex if possible: (a full copy of the /system/app folder would be awesome if possible)
Blurb.apk
Chrome.apk
Flipboard.apk
Peel.apk
Phonesky.apk
PlusOne.apk
SamsungWatchON.apk
SecLauncher3.apk
I may also need "/system/media/shutdown.qmg" because I know at one time I had changed it, but I cant for the life of me remember if I put the original back
tried everything followed to a T n the option to continue the update is greyed out still
Won't work?
Continue update is still greyed out for me too...
I was on stock MF3 and rooted with activeroot only so I could copy this to the /data/fota folder.
Ditto with winters setup

Are you able to root with any method? It seems as though no one knows about rooting 4.3. This thread has a root method for the firmware leaked before official ota: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606550 I really need someone to test it so I know if it's safe to go to 4.3.

you will lose root with the official OTA and so far there's no confirmation if SafeRoot method works.

Thanks AjC - Just to be clear, do I need these files for "Continue Update" to recognize the update file? I'm confused, I made no modifications other than root in order to access data/fota.

looking for 5.0 g870a ota

hello i recently went back to stock on my phone and i'm trying to upgrade all way to 5.1.1. After I downgraded I was able to use the phones upgrade option in settings and that got me to 4.4.4 and now it keeps telling me I'm up to date which we all know isn't right. I found a 5.0 .cfg file searching this forum but no info on how to use the cfg. someone said change it to .zip and others replied back with it didn't work. so i'm trying to find the right way to do this without bricking my phone... any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have the OF2 or OF3 OTAs?
I am on BOC5 Lollipop 5.0 and I can't install the the 5.11 OTA that was posted above, it starts but after checking the contents fails with an error something like error 7 on package. I wondered if it was because you cant go from my 5.0 OC5 straight to the new 5.11 build?
I want to keep stock but can't update OTA as I'm in the UK. I installed the BOC5 update by downloading the 1.6GB cfg file and renaming it to update.zip and placing on my SD card etc.
