Make stock one fast - LG Optimus Black

Hello guys my question today is more specific (as I think) so please only specialized guys answer me again please
In the past I used the stick rom for OB it was slow when I asked they told me because I was using the stock rom then they advised me to use cm7 because it's faster than the stock one I used is it's really faster but I lost some advantages so I want to get back to stock rom but its problem is the slow
So you developers what do you do in the Rome to make it faster I'm not developer or so but I mean if I have root with stock rom can I make it faster
By editing system files, apps or settings
So if I can do this please tell me and if no way tell me to continue using cm7

I've installed CM7 because of curiosity but not used. Some other users reports bugs in that rom. Personally i always return to Zeus which is fast enough for me. There are also other roms like suppressed which is basically heavily themed and thin original rom.

I highly recommend you to try Zeus ROM. It's fantastic! You can have all the stock features with a fast performance. Why? Because Huexxx remove all the lg things that don't help us but you can use Gestures, lockscreen and everything else you want with the Zeus app. So give it a try. I'm really amazed since the first time I installed this ROM.

flash your carrier stock rom, root it, and then uninstal all the apps that are useless (at your will), also look for some system tweaks like build prop and init.d tweaks, its a little more complicated but not that much to need to have a masters in Computer Science to add them
there is a thread with the safe to remove apps from stock. search for it with the tag [REF]

there are a lot of tweaks involved in giving a faster feeling to rom, there is also the addition of a better kernel and some tweaks to the governors, but that is a lot of work and a coding knowledge is recommendend.
But with the removal of some bloatware on the phone and the addition of system tweaks a stock rom could see a lot of improvment.

i also tryied to make the custom rom faster by unistalling a lot of usles apps. but it is not the same as the custom rom. my advise to you is flash a custom rom with a lot of tweaks, change the governor to a performance oriented governor (f.e. smartass) and install all the custom rom apps you use. the governor can be change via system tuner (free on market).

You can't make stock rom really fast. All you can do is to remove/freeze some applications that uses your resources and install new faster home application. That's all. Most important things you cannot alter.

Which tweak I can use??

Best Rom for Optimus Black; Discussions & Opinions

Hi just trying to get a clearer picture here, what would be the best/most stable rom for the OB? What is the most commonly used rom for OB? And does installing another rom screw up stock camera functions cos I do like the stock camera functions and capabilities.....
Thanks
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
There's basically three custom roms : NOVArom, PAY's rom and Cyanogenmod rom; and stock 2.2a/b/v/d... and leaked stock 2.3a
So, out of all these, the most stable, most battery friendly, most hard functioning rom with overclocking feature is NOVA rom v8. But only downside is it's froyo.
Now, if you want a highly advanced rom with countless possibilities of customizations; but can handle a few known audio and video bugs, the go for Cyanogenmod nightly.
Personally i am on Cyanogenmod kang by redy2006, and nova kernel. Audio bug is almost negligible for me, but 720p hd recording is not that much good here.
Pick what meets your need..
How much different would froyo on Nova rom be as opposed to stock gb I mean not in bits and bytes but overall user experience...
Cm audio bug what happens exactly? (skip, stutter etc)
Don't really care for 720video tho (hardly capture video but use alot of camera tho)
Basically I just wanna make my device perform at its peak and want it to be speedy and reliably stable (have alot of snap mins where I have to access my tools instantly)
Thanks in advance....

Oh it just bugs the hell out of me that my device could be much snappier & stable but currently capped and cluttered by useless stuff provided by carrier.... :/
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda premium
Well, you can root it and remove a lot of those stock apps. I've removed about 35 apps, and none of those were from my carrier. Makes the phone a bit snappier, but the camera is and has always been rediciolusly slow. from i press the button to the processed image appears, it takes like 30 sec or something, dunno why, using V10e. Haven't tried NOVA or CM yet...
I thought abt doing that, but I've read somewhere that if I delete stock included apps from stock rom it might screw the os (much like if uninstall progs from windows )
Truth?

+1 great room
CM is indeed great, but it is still in nightlies.
i prefer a full working stable ROM and thus i use NOVA v8. it is stable even with 1.3 Ghz O/C with my black(i would sugghest NOT to try this...very few of the blacks can actually be stable at 1.3, most of them max out at 1.2,1.25 Ghz)...the conclusion is u can stay stock(almost) but with various tweaks which will get the best out of your black...
but what is good for you is for u to decide. like, few days ago, i thought of getting a total ICS overhaul of my black. so, i installed a CM7 nightly amd tweaked it to my hearts content. ICS wallpapes,ICS theme, animations,Lockscreen,Music, even the ICS outlines SWYPE!!!...used it for a few days, got bored and flashed back the NOVA backup.
try the ROMs available, use it for some days to get a "backup-able" stable image and then switch over from one to another.
i have a CWM backup f NOVA8, stock10g and the CM#20 nightly builds....and each of them are stable, has my applications installed
hope i helped
As soon as CM7 or CM9 for that matter is released as stable, i'll switch to it right away, no matter which official version LG can offer. I'm so jealous of all the cool available mods/themes for CM. For me using them on stock rom, it's a whole lot of work, and will only partially apply. LG roms seems so sensitive to changes as well, probably due to their implementation of OEM bloatware into Android roms. And don't you guys hate all the use of blue/cyan colors all over the menus, windows, buttons etc? It's so butt ugly, especially the speech bubbles in the default sms app...

i have most of these craps deleted. feels SOOO childish!!!!...u cannot expect 2 have such colorful and weirdly "girly" kind of UI on such a mature and sleek looking hardware....i even deleted the lg msg, dialer, home, gallery, bla bla bla and went in for a complete GO!(launcher, locker, dialer, contacts, widgets, etc etc) for my black. now i have a "blackish-blue" kind of galactic theme for most of the GO!offerings and my cell looks to be dressed to kill

you have been here longer than i am, so i would think that you are supposed to read and use the search functions of this forum than just wait up for answers from other people that may not come at all.
if you are afraid to root, go no further. if you take the risk, then go all the way and test all the available roms and decide which one suits your taste. it's your phone, it's your risk.... do not blame anyone if something bad happens, because if somebody answers your question "which one would you recommend" and somebody does recommend a specific rom, and you BRICKED your phone in the process... you will curse whoever gave you that suggestion.
I found Rocket Rom v22 used with franco v6 kernel very fast and stable. I got my best benchmark scores using this setup.
Now on Midnote ICS and while very smooth it doesn't have the same benchmark scores. (Not that they mean much as it feels quicker in daily use).
To sync FB pics with contacts install FB app then go to settings/accounts and sync, add FB account. It will ask you what to sync eg all contacts etc

[Q] Need a better unrooted ROM

HI Friends,
I was using custom roms before, but now i have reverted back to LG ROM v20G(india) android 2.3.4.
Since, i was not able to install some applications(for my office email and communicator) due to rooted device error, so i reverted back to LG ROM.
But after installing few applications my mobile became very slow, every time i have to clean RAM using task manager.
Is there a better ROM(unrooted ROM) suggestion ?
Thanks in advance.

HI N00BY0815, Thanks for yor reply.
Earlier i was using zeus 7.03 ROM and there i was able to install the zenprise application but it was not able to configure properly and used to get error like "This device is rooted" something like that. Bcz of this i was unable to configure the MS Exchange email and Microsoft Lync 2010 apps(bcz they are dependent on zenprise to get my enterprise server details).
Now i have reverted to LG stock ROM v20G and able to configure everything successfully and all are working.
But my mobile becoming damn slow, and it is showing only 23 mb RAM is free. :crying:

Hmm maybe you could still use Zeus ROM, but with a minor change in kernel, that is to change
ro.secure=0 to ro.secure=1 in ramdisk. This will pretend, the cell is still unrooted and thus everything should install just fine. Though you might get some problems with some apps, that need root.
Can some1 upload a flashable zip of this, since I dont really have time currently? Just decompile the boot.img with dsixda's android kitchen, change that line and recompile it. Flash and your done

Did you already try a rooted stock ROM, which has to be flashed via Smartflash? It's quite simple, since there also is a video guide (check my how to, post #3 includes the link to the thread with the video). Then you ll have root, but kernel will still state ro.secure=1. So you can almost do everything you want, but the phone will still think, it's still unrooted. Just pick the same version as you already have in kdz format (e.g. v20n, v20O, v20s,...) extract it with the tool mentioned, inject cwm, flash superuser.apk, dont wipe anything and you ll have root and all your data still. If it still detects the phone as rooted then, you ll have to go back to stock and reinstall everything, but it's still worth a try Then you can uninstall all LG crap apps and will have more free ram. Or you wait for anyone to provide an unrooted ROM with all unnecessary apps removed and maybe some tweaks enabled

It will probably still be recognized as rooted, because the kernel will still state: ro.secure=0, which equals a rooted device. Of course, I dont really know, how this app detects, if the phone is rooted. It might also be the superuser.apk, but I dont really think so...

guys, my phone has basically 2.1 which works well in multitasking. i have tried few roms available in the internet, but none are working properly. for example if im browsing and i get a call, after the call is ended, by browser gets closed automatically or it restarts and i loose all by tabs. same is with other apps, when i use one others are not kept open in the background.
can u suggest a stable 2.3 rom which can multitask?

nobody mentioned it so i would like to point it out here... it may be because background data might be off?
and if you get a phone call then your net gets disconnected. that might be causing it.
And why don't you use 2.1?:silly:

Some questions before burn again my phone XD

Well,
Rigth now i have android 4.0 in my captivate, but it has a lot of bugs, with the audio, music, and sometimes just close the app just because!!
I decided to change the rom for another newer, but i don't know a lot of this world, and i have some questions that somebody experiment can easily answer.
When i dont know a lot of what the kernel do for the phone, but do i really need change the kernel?? Because the last time i tried with semaphore but i briked my phone.
If i need to change the kernel, could some body tell me te more stable for android 4.1 or 4.2
Second question.
I want another ROM which one is the more stable and with better performance, i dont want any spectacular, but with a good performance and all working its enougth for me.
And the last one.
How can i save my apps to reinstall all again, i mean i'm working bad piggies and where is may water, and i dont want to lose my levels jaja.
Thanks again for your time its really a lot of help for me.

No need to change kernel.
CM10.0 stable rom. It is 4.1.2 os.
You can read other threads on how to use Titanium backup or other tools to preserve your user data and user apps. Don't try to restore system apps to a new rom, though. if you have given google permission to backup your data, it may already be restored when you reinstall the app from google play.
You will still want to do a full factory wipe, followed by flashing the correct gapps package. you can find all the instructions and links in the CM10.0 thread in the captivate development forum.
If you want to go to 4.2, I've found the CM10.1 nightlies to be very stable. There's a separate thread for it with links, etc.
Thanks for your answer, and thanks for the extra of read my post because my english is too bad jaja.
Another question, why the developers create new kernels if we can work with the same for a lot of roms, i mean what things make better some kernel from another??

or less stable . .
driving new features or higher performance is often, but not always, accompanied by a loss of stability, at least for a few revs.
imho, the base kernel in cm is excellent for someone whose chief concern is simplicity and stability, without a burning desire to be at the bleeding edge.
that said, the semaphore and others do have some added tweaks that can do just what you said.

I think I should have been more clear in my first response.
When you flash cm10, you will be flashing a new rom that includes a new kernel that is different than the one you have now.
I thought you were asking about flashing a kernel as a standalone, such as semaphore kernel, rather than a complete rom.
When I said you do not need to change the kernel, I meant that once you flash a complete cm10 rom, you do not need to change the kernel.
For a ROM, I highly reccomend sephhi's captivating (4.2.2 with xperia theming and very much aimed at performance and battery life) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2057574
This is the answer!!!
Excelent, i really appreciate your help, and i think that now i will flash with CM 10, maybe i will return for more help if i needed, but now nothing can scared me like the first time that i try this
