[Q] Need a better unrooted ROM - LG Optimus Black

HI Friends,
I was using custom roms before, but now i have reverted back to LG ROM v20G(india) android 2.3.4.
Since, i was not able to install some applications(for my office email and communicator) due to rooted device error, so i reverted back to LG ROM.
But after installing few applications my mobile became very slow, every time i have to clean RAM using task manager.
Is there a better ROM(unrooted ROM) suggestion ?
Thanks in advance.

Currently, No Devs are doing that as there is no point to it. But since you say so, I will make a Unrooted ROM

No way... Except for removing them before even flashing the ROM. But I think you are a bit wrong though. What ROM did you use before? I mean, while you were rooted? And what apps exactly havent you been able to install? Sounds strange to me...

HI N00BY0815, Thanks for yor reply.
Earlier i was using zeus 7.03 ROM and there i was able to install the zenprise application but it was not able to configure properly and used to get error like "This device is rooted" something like that. Bcz of this i was unable to configure the MS Exchange email and Microsoft Lync 2010 apps(bcz they are dependent on zenprise to get my enterprise server details).
Now i have reverted to LG stock ROM v20G and able to configure everything successfully and all are working.
But my mobile becoming damn slow, and it is showing only 23 mb RAM is free. :crying:

Hmm maybe you could still use Zeus ROM, but with a minor change in kernel, that is to change
ro.secure=0 to ro.secure=1 in ramdisk. This will pretend, the cell is still unrooted and thus everything should install just fine. Though you might get some problems with some apps, that need root.
Can some1 upload a flashable zip of this, since I dont really have time currently? Just decompile the boot.img with dsixda's android kitchen, change that line and recompile it. Flash and your done

Did you already try a rooted stock ROM, which has to be flashed via Smartflash? It's quite simple, since there also is a video guide (check my how to, post #3 includes the link to the thread with the video). Then you ll have root, but kernel will still state ro.secure=1. So you can almost do everything you want, but the phone will still think, it's still unrooted. Just pick the same version as you already have in kdz format (e.g. v20n, v20O, v20s,...) extract it with the tool mentioned, inject cwm, flash superuser.apk, dont wipe anything and you ll have root and all your data still. If it still detects the phone as rooted then, you ll have to go back to stock and reinstall everything, but it's still worth a try Then you can uninstall all LG crap apps and will have more free ram. Or you wait for anyone to provide an unrooted ROM with all unnecessary apps removed and maybe some tweaks enabled

Hey do not install v20g its the worst update given by lg India.
I to installed it and even lg service centre guy reverted my ob to previous version saying that v20g is faulty.

It will probably still be recognized as rooted, because the kernel will still state: ro.secure=0, which equals a rooted device. Of course, I dont really know, how this app detects, if the phone is rooted. It might also be the superuser.apk, but I dont really think so...

There is two ways. Look at ro.secure or call /bin/su and see if it works.If a app only wants to check and not ask for permissions then I think they'll look at ro.secure

Unrevoked reflash tool v2.0

Anyone used this? Im still on the original recovery so not sure if i should use this or what i should do? Any ideas? Suggestions?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
It was quick and easy to run it again...if you've already done it the first time it's just going to update to the newest recovery version...about 5 minutes of your time
well we've all used it, its the only way right now to get roms and easily get into adb in recovery, its very easy to do
just reflashed the updated version and did fine
Just did it... im pretty familiar with android but not using a tool to flash recovery. Tried a couple of different ROMs but waiting for something that is actually better than my senseUI people complain but its better tan stock. Just makes for longer update waits. Wish we could port bookmarks widget.

Nexus is a really fantastic phone...so smooth...
now...I need some advice:
1) I think now is installed the official 2.2.1, I need to root, do you think it's better to root on my 2.2 or install a custom ROM? if yes, what rom?
2)there is a way to wake up the phone when it is sleeping with the trackball?
thanks a lot in advace
Definitely root and try some of the gingerbread Roms. I'm on miui 1.6.10 and really enjoy the hybrid android and iPhone feel. Cm7 nightly is really nice too.

Yep the way I use is cyanogenmod 7 Nightlies which come with that feature I don't know if MIUI rom would have it or not never tried it
so to install a rom I have to root before....
Rom have all languages?
Maybe I can try the cyanogen based on 2.3? does it have some important issue? or it's better to stay with a rom based on 2.2?
Any rom have pre-installed App2SD? or I have to install it on my own?
if you don't want to flash a custom rom try superoneclick on this forum

Yes. No Lock by BOD. Been using it for a year now. No issues with it. https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jraf.android.nolock&feature=search_result
I don't have problem to install ROM, I just like that the rom is in italian language...(at least for now) :|
@bobbyphoenix
It's not what I looking for...mmm do you know iphone? that you can light on the display when it is in stand by with the home button?
so i need the same, because wake up the display with the power button is really annoying...
----
So I follow some tutorial to root and than I can install a rom like cyanogen?
I go to the 2.3? or 2.2?
it's normal that the phone is warm in the rear-bottom part when I use it?
I have just the wifi on and i go to the market open apps and so on...
thanks
you absolutely should be going for cyanogen 7 which is 2.3.4 based ROM. that has trackball wake and all the good stuff like color trackball alerts, etc.
then you can try MIUI if you like.
but those are the no brainers to go to.
ok so I have to root the phone when it is still on 2.2.1 and than install cyanogen...I find the tutorial here?
anyway
it is normal that the phone is warm during the intense use of app and game, and that is really hot now that is on charge?
thanks

Yes. You remind me of when I first got mine. It felt like I could fry an egg. I got used to it though. I think it has to do with how the phone is designed. The aluminum body brings the heat to the outside surface. Nothing to worry about.

Just search Nexus One windows driver in google, then download and install like any other file.
I got the drivers for my N1 at theunlockr.com, It's very detailed with a video and written walkthrough (props to the unlockr.com). here's the link:

[INT/Bell][CWM]Auto Ram Fixer for unlocked bootloader

Hi,
This is a small CWM zip to add the [email protected] line to your existing boot and recovery partitions to fix the ram issue with the international unlocked bootloader. If the second mem is already there it does nothing.
The point of this is you can have a regular recovery flashed and fix the ram issue without wondering what tegra part you have, it preserves your serial number as well. More useful with stock boot images than custom ones that already have this done.
To use:
Flash with a CWM recovery supporting edify scripting. That means you have an unlocked recovery basically.The program inside the zip can be used on it's own to list the cmdlines already in your phone, or to set them to something else.
As cmdline, it lists, as setcmdline it sets the entire thing, as addcmdline it adds on to the end of the existing cmdline.Cheers!
Great! Looks like our bell friends are having good development as well.

You can just keep it handy on your sdcard and use when needed, it depends on the "rom" you flash, it may or may not have a ram fix solution built in.

It depends on the Kernel the Rom has within it, nothing else.
Furthermore, no offense. But this is kinda useless now. Did you not know we have unified Kernel's? If someone made a Rom without a unified kernel, they can basically shove that Rom.
I do not see a point in this at all. I guess maybe for testing old Roms.....

Hi,
I addressed this already in the OP. It's more for use with stock kernels.
Can you compile the motorola kernel source (pick one) and get a binary exact match for the stock Bell kernel?
No offense to the guys working on kernel's here, but I am not really compelled by the added features/bug fixes, and am concerned more about stability, especially when the source seems to be ATT based. Which is fine if you are running an ATT framework "rom/theme" I guess, even better if you have an ATT phone.
Cheers!

So, if I understand this correctly, when I flash this it will auto-fix any ROM, kernel or custom recovery that I install?

[ROM / GT-P7510] - Stock Rooted / No Mods / De-Odex'ed - HC 3.2 - HTJ85B.UEKMP

As the name implies this is a bone stock rooted ROM with the exception of root and busy and its de-odexed.
I also updated all the apps. So its not really bone stock but.. Close enough
This ROM has two purposes...
1. For someone that wants just that, a stock rooted ROM with no mods.
2. For others that want to dive into development or at least tinker around with there own custom ROM. This is a great base to work from! All the menial tasks such as rooting and de-odeodexing have been done for you.
Hope you find value in this!

I'm on stock KMN that I rooted myself and am showing an update to KMP, but it fails every time so I figure it's probably due to the fact that I'm rooted.
That said, I thought I would give this a try, but I'm loath to reinstall everything afterwards so my question is whether this requires a wipe? I'm assuming this is installed from recovery, is that right?

Rom Zeus: Issues with some Apps

Hi all. I've just installed the new Huexxx Rom Zeus v 7.0 for my OB. The first App I've installed is Euronews, that worked perfect with the Rom stock 2.3. The App it's correctly installed, it starts, but doesn't reproduce the video stream (not in Wi-Fi neither in 3g).
I thought was a build.prop compatibility problem, so I've analized the build.prop file, comparing the Zeus vs the Lg stock, to find the difference and trying to make some changes to make believe the app that it's a Rom stock. But nothing changed. Any suggestions?
Btw I paste here the biggest differences that I found and I changed (in Zeus the 262 it's EUR, so I put it back to 262):
ro.product.device=bproj_262-XXX
ro.build.product=bproj_262-XXX
ro.build.fingerprint=lge/lge_bproj/bproj_262-XXX:2.3.4/GRJ22/LG-P970-V20n.424C866C:user/release-keys
I've noticed too that in Zeus is totally missing a line. Do you know what it really could means (something related to the recovery?):

Btw I paste here the biggest differences that I found and I changed (in Zeus the 262 it's EUR, so I put it back to 262):
ro.product.device=bproj_262-XXX
ro.build.product=bproj_262-XXX
ro.build.fingerprint=lge/lge_bproj/bproj_262-XXX:2.3.4/GRJ22/LG-P970-V20n.424C866C:user/release-keys
I've noticed too that in Zeus is totally missing a line. Do you know what it really could means (something related to the recovery?):

Thnx for the replay Soul, but something already went wrong seen that Euronews doesn't stream the video. In anycase I saved a copy of the original one. No any other issue.. so far.. the problem is that I watch often the news but I like also the new Zeus too:crying:
PS: I've tried to put on also others Zeus version (ex. the very stable 6.39) and the problem persist:silly:

Sorry Soul but I cannot understand why I have to use smartflashtool:silly:. My Lg isn't bricked, it works fine, fast and fluid. The only problem is with the app of Euronews. That's all. I've already flashed successfully the Zeus via Clockworkmod from a the zip file uploaded by Huexxx some days ago, why I have to repeat all from the start?
Maybe try zeus v6.9 open Europe? That would sound more suitable for ur region and more ppl have that rom in contrast to v7 because heuxxx hasn't really been 'officially' released. I mean heuxxx hasn't updated his thread, posted changelog, etc.
Since more ppl have it, there may be others with ur same problem.

Frankly I've already flashed on also the 6.39, but the bug for Euronews still remain. App installed, start, but no video stream. I've tried to solve myself editing the build prop, but it doesn't seem take any effect.
I saw that you got the 6.39 you too FunkyGanja. I wonder if you have the same problem with the same app (Euronews). I thank you in advance for any kind of help.
Bye:good:

This could be related to the App

Yes, I suppose so, cuz any other app work well. It's a pity.
