INDIAN FROM HEAD TO TOE!!
Developer you ask? Not much, but I am great in Java.

If there are any more racist remarks or "jokes" in this thread then I'll be in touch with those responsible. I won't warn again.

WTF is the matter with us Indians? Can't we participate in any forum without creating a 'Clan meeting'?
Not a dev but a geek. Self taught Java and C++.

Nope. Are you?
Are you a developer?
Yes I am a developer, but amateur.
I prefer shell programming for the reason that I use shell command daily, no need to learning !
Sort of

And I want to post a very specific question in a very specific thread in the developer forum, but I can't since I have less then 10 posts, so I have to make BS posts here. What a drag.
And BTW I also have to wait 5 minutes between post, meaning maybe in an hour or more I might be able to post my important, specific question in that specific thread in the developer forum after I spammed this one with totally irrelevant posts that I would not have posted otherwise.
Yes. I'm a developer.
What did I win? I hope it has sugar and caffeine in it.

I wish. I'm afraid learning how to use the ROMs and kernels is challenging enough for me! lol
I'm a Windows Phone developer. I have over 15 apps under the publisher name 'SimzzDev'.
I'm learning. Or at least TRYING to learn.

Want to Learn Programming? Why not from MIT?

XDA Has always been a fantastic community for developers, and non developers alike. Recently, as many of you may have noticed, the gap between our esteemed developers, and our massive user base has been widening. XDA-University helps immensely to bridge that gap by allowing our users to start on the path to being developers themselves. Many of our tutorials focus on the basic aspects of theming and modifying the software on our devices. It seems, however, that there are not so many tutorials on the actual basics of programming. Why don't I just send you all to MIT to learn... For Free.
MIT has opened up the content of their courses for free on the web. Check it out here: CLICK ME!
When I look for something related to programming I often bump on MIT videos.
The last one was on skip lists
This is awesome! I've never heard of this!
I agree with you xda is the one of the best forum for the windows and android phone user.

Girls on xda?

Hi I was wondering if there were any girls in the xda community. Ive been hooked up of android since 2009 with my first android smartphone: the HTC Magic, a true innovative product back in the days. Are there other girls who have a strange passion for android(-smartphones) like me? would be cool to find out.
Cheers!

There are quite a few girls here.. Talented too!
Swyped from my Galaxy Nexus
It's obviously a woman asking can't you see the android is pink?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
So the OP is girl, but the members replied are boys, including me.
What a response for the pink android!
I think there would be few girls here I know some girls who love smartphones but not into modifying
I hope to see a confirmation here that more than 1 girl is on xda : D

My simply saying so may not be enough confirmation for you..
But just a couple months ago in the off topic section... There were multiple girls joining in on the conversation. I can think of at least 4 or 5 girls from just that thread alone. So I assure you... They are present. Lol

Thread Cleaned
I couldn't follow the thread for a few days so I didn't read the already cleaned up postst, so I wanna make everyone clear that I am a girl who's just wondering if there were other girls who were like me and are the odd one out in their friendgroup because of the nerdy interest in smartphone personalising
So there is actually, that's cool to know! Always thought xda and android modifying is more of a men's world... it feels very good to know that there are other girl (devs) out there that are trying and succeeding to put their phones and android software to another level... You go girls!!! :highfive::laugh::good:

What Got you motivated to "Develop"?

So I am this random 16 year old guy who turned out to be quite interested in tech (before it was cool). I am that guy who always love to customize and push the final juice of something, which in turn got me into trouble (My terabyte HDD burnt(which I still don't know why), my usb ports all screwed up, remind me to fix them later)
Anyway I love the fact that when you program you have that ability to CREATE any program you wish without "wishing someone else makes it"
However I am busy with school (who figures) and homework and customizing my HTC + gaming that I can't proceed (for a month) in learning java, and yes I picked java as my first language since it's cross-platform and I am thinking of moving between ubuntu and windows simultaneously once I fix my pc.
Anyway! What got you guys motivated in developing ? Theme-ing? Or "Who" got you motivated .
And how did you keep this motivation since we all know coding is not a piece of cake with those thousands of lines, classes, and commands just to make a simple program... ?
^^ have fun opening your heart.
