What Got you motivated to "Develop"? - Off-topic

So I am this random 16 year old guy who turned out to be quite interested in tech (before it was cool). I am that guy who always love to customize and push the final juice of something, which in turn got me into trouble (My terabyte HDD burnt(which I still don't know why), my usb ports all screwed up, remind me to fix them later)
Anyway I love the fact that when you program you have that ability to CREATE any program you wish without "wishing someone else makes it"
However I am busy with school (who figures) and homework and customizing my HTC + gaming that I can't proceed (for a month) in learning java, and yes I picked java as my first language since it's cross-platform and I am thinking of moving between ubuntu and windows simultaneously once I fix my pc.
Anyway! What got you guys motivated in developing ? Theme-ing? Or "Who" got you motivated .
And how did you keep this motivation since we all know coding is not a piece of cake with those thousands of lines, classes, and commands just to make a simple program... ?
^^ have fun opening your heart.

Lets do this, everyone should write the quotes they heard/readed/made on their own.
Lets start this one i made up when i was walking by the road covered in snow:

A few from the emminently quotable Sir Winston Churchill:
The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.
A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.
You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.
You can always count on Americans to do the right thing—after they’ve tried everything else.
And one from the Bard:
A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.

INDIAN FROM HEAD TO TOE!!
Developer you ask? Not much, but I am great in Java.
If there are any more racist remarks or "jokes" in this thread then I'll be in touch with those responsible. I won't warn again.
WTF is the matter with us Indians? Can't we participate in any forum without creating a 'Clan meeting'?
Not a dev but a geek. Self taught Java and C++.

Aussie get together (VIC)

Hi guys,
Just putting out a feeler to see if anyone's keen on a get together/BBQ sausage sizzle day. So we can have a meet n greet with our local XDA fans, discuss/compare mod related stuff and just general chit chat. I saw that XDA do the annual BBQ thingy, but obviously being in another country makes it a little difficult so I thought we'd do one of our own .
I think this is a sweet idea
hopefully we'll get more takers and be able to set something up soon
Bump...
No one is interested?

kickstarter or bounty for wp8 jailbreak where when to whom?

ok I am frustrated like everyone else in that there is no jailbreak yet for wp8 and I completely understand how it can happen by luck and or months later so that said and I have said this on other threads.
should we start a bounty on xda for wp8 jailbreak or go over to kickstarter and start a campaign? do we nominate a hacker for the bounty or do we keep collecting and present it to them when it is a sizable amount?
will $$$$ help a hacker find the jailbreak that much sooner? maybe they need money to obtain a phone, to get a dev unlock to begin with to, or need money to help them if they are taking time off work to help us all out with the jail break

Never heard of google translate???
Yes I am aware of google translate, it didn't occur to me or I was not sure if I could copy those characters on my phone and translate them on mobile google translate on my browser, shoot me now

Forum rules do require including an English translation in posts, even if you also include it in your original language.
Back on topic... bounties are a way to increase interest in a project, but they don't guarantee anything. Worth a shot, perhaps.
Ok who wants to start it? Should we do it here in xda? Is this allowed still? What PayPal should we use?

LoL, I understand this frustration as a Lumia 520, though phone is good as per price point but wp8 needs some freedom and some of essential features are lacking.

XDA-like school club

So my friend and I were talking today and we thought it might be a good idea to create a sort of "XDA club" at our high school. We were thinking about using the club to teach people to root, flash roms and kernels, and maybe even teach people to use linux and build cyanogenmod or something like that. Has anyone done something similar or know of something similar at their schools? Any suggestions?
Go for it
I've convinced most of my friends to root and taught them the basics
Dude go for it... Its worth a shot it but the problem at my school is that 80% of the people have iphones but still go for it
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I once thought of that but only a few 10-20 people like technology
And about 50+ didn't even know what Android was soooo no.
