Hello,
I'm rooted lpy with Franco #3 kernel. Its not going into deep sleep. It was doing this with cf kernel as well. The fix with turning screen on and unlocking before unplugging from USB doesn't work. Only thing that works is a reset. Any other fix anyone has come across? I have frozen maps and the only thing causing significant wakelocks is wlan, which it does after reset.
Thanks.

Hi again,
possible fix is turning USB debugging off.
I'll report back if it works long term. I don't know if it was doing it on GB ROM because I didn't have cpuspy then. I did notice on occasion my battery would drain very fast though and a restart used to fix it.
Anyway, getting great battery life now. Don't know whether it's lpy or Franco kernel or gold battery? Losing about 1% per hour in deep sleep. My impression is that it lasts twice as long in heavy use.

Charged overnight (8 hours) and removed charger before turning on screen. Seems to be going into deep sleep now.

My galaxy note drains battery overnight like 50%. I have checked with CPU sky and noticed that note never goes to deep sleep state - it's obvious that this is the reason why the phone is discharging so fast ?
What can cause the phone never goes into sleep state?
I use very few programs like Battery Monitor, cpu sky, betterbattery, handcent and dropbox - and that's all.
BTW, these statistics are gathered using AbyssKernel 2.5, I reflashed stock kernel today and waiting to see the changes.
What should be the idle time before phone goes into deep sleep?
This sounds like an individual issue, for if the Note was faulty as described then everyone would be experiencing it.

are you leaving wifi and bluetooth on? they tend to ping quite frequently to find nearby wifi hubs and bluetooth devices. gps pings your location once in a while. weather apps will reconnect your device to 3g at regular intervals to update the weather data. some widgets also use mobile data which will drain battery.
50% overnight is way too much even for not going into the deep sleep. There has to be some runaway app in the background. I'm on custom ROM and kernel, undervolted and no wifi/bluetooth/data/sync while I'm sleeping and the most drain I would see overnight is 3%.
got that issue with rocket rom v11. now am on v10 with abyssnote 2.5 with no issue.

If you left WiFi turned on, it could happen that it prevents it from going into deep sleep. If you have titanium backup, freeze the app "wi-fi sharing" and all the samsung hub/kies apps.
Hey guys, i just wanted to know if anyone is getting this issue. After installing paranoid android V.03 im having this huge battery drain. Almost 10% battery loss every 40 minutes even with Mobile Data and WiFi off. I should say i've flashed this rom over a stock gb. There is no modifications and the kernel used is the same that comes with that rom.
look for BetterBatteryStats and CPU Spy, download it. Check in CPU spy if ur phone is going into deep sleep, If not, put it in airplane mode, reboot and turn airplane mode off, if still not going in Deep Sleep, open BetterBatteryStats check the wakelocks and come back here.
First day on v0.3 I had the same problem. But it was really interesting when I figured out why the battery drain was so fast.
Look at your battery status if there is any drops like 3-5% which was happened immediately in a second. If yes your system is rebooting sometimes and that makes your battery drained. I had 1 or 2 reboots every hour on the first day.
If you didnt wipe dalvik cache and wipe cache after flashing the update may be that is the problem.
i did wipe the device. I have not notice any reboots . I'll fully charge it and check the battery life again. I've notice a fast battery drain even when i'm using it to text only. Like it's 80% one moment and when i look back at it it's like 78% Out of nowhere ( and as i said no data or WiFi).
Edit: almost forgot to mention. Just checked the cpu spy app and it does go into deep sleep(it shows an 8hour record in that state).

If you flash a rom with less than full battery it will take a few days/restarts/charging cycles for the battery stats to reconfigure correctly. This is the case with all roms, stock or otherwise.
If it persists after that, better battery stats should help identify what program is swallowing all the juice.
PS. I'm on same rom and kernel and have excellent battery life so it should resolve itself after a couple of charges.

Well.. i've been using it as always, and still feeling like it's going down too fast. When i flashed the rom , i did it with full battery. Anyways, i'll keep using it for a few days more and see if it changes. i've installed betterbattery stats and CPUspy as you guys recommended, so i'll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the replies, i'll let you know guys any changes :good:
+1
ihave this problem with this rom battery drain
WTF ??!!!
Hi all
I tried to cut battery consumption down as much as possible while phone is in standby/deep sleep.
I now manage a drain of around 1%/h (BetterBatteryStats actually reports 0.9% per hour).
This is with Wifi on, everything else turned off. I have my CPU undervolted by -100mV and am using perseus kernel with RipperRom, Radio is currently LL3. The signal coverrage in my area is good (3-4 bars).
What is your drain when the phone is not in use? Best way to check is to fully charge and unplug the phone before going to bed and leave it alone until the morning. You can either calculate amount of battery drained per hour yourself or just use BBS.
Please also mention your configuration (Rom, Kernel, Radio, Undervolting, what Antennas were active during standby and how your reception is)
mine's about the same, 0.8 - 0.9%/h on a good night. CPU undervolting won't help much as the phone hsould be in deep sleep most of the time (CPU UV is only active when the phone is not in deep sleep). my wifi is on 100%, i have a bunch of push accounts, a few pull. using ripper, perseus, default telstra modem, good reception
Not rooted, but overnight mine tends to drop around 5-8%, this is with everything off. I had the HTC Sensation prior to this phone and that practically lost no battery life when on stand-by! So am a little surprised it drops quite a few % from stand-by mode.
yeah that's pretty bad, I would get BetterBatteryStats and work out what's chewing up your battery. I'm pretty sure you don't need Root unless you want to look at the network or process stuff..
I'm using Ripper ROM V8, Latest perseus kernel and LL5 Modem.
I got 3% drain overnight (9.5hours) with wifi and data off.

It might be that location reporting is turned on. You should check if google maps has "Report from this device" activated. If so, it will constantly wake you device and report your location to who knows where. I have turned it off and my battery life has vastly improved
However, 5-8% in a time span of around 8h seems normal. You will only achieve less if u switch off wifi and data
Hello, and scuse me for my poor English but if that can help someone:
I had a lot of problems with battery drain of my phone, so i've tested some roms but give me bad results. All my tests was the night, with no data, no wifi, no bluetooth
Supreme Rom was the first and battery drain was 3% by hour
Rom Ripper V1.0 was the second and with perseus kernel 4 or 5% by hour....!
The third XTrem rom V3 with Perseus Kernel 3% by hour and with Stock Kernel 1,5% by hour. V4, it was the same. I've tested with set CPU at minimum (400 MHZ max) screen off, voltages for all frequences -25mV, don't change anything.
BUT last Night I've tested Padorium ROM V6 with Stock Kernel and OUahhh, my battery was at 90% before sleep and 8 hours after, 87%. So 0.5% only by hour!! And in use (datas or wifi on, internnet, fcbk.....) 1% every 10 min. It's very good.
If that can help someone who's flashing again and again for battery drain....
I would not say this has solved battery drain.
I can get same amount of loss overnight if I turn off data, wifi, bluetooth etc as in 3% all night even less if I put the phone into flight mode. No matter what phone or rom I have used I can get these same results.
For you to lose soo much battery overnight you must have some rogue app running in the background to cause it, that is why personally I restart the phone before going to bed to kill any unknown apps in the background that are going to drain battery.

I don't think there was some apps who drained my battery. I've installed some tasks killers and that don't change anything. I saw regulary apps who runing, there were no apps stranges. I use the same apps now and battery drain is ok.

I flashed redpill kernel the daybefore and now I feel the battery drain issue has started.. I used my screen for less than 2 hours and 1.5 hours for voice call.. Wifi On all the time... NOW I SEE THAT ANDROID OS HAS TAKEN MOST OF THE BATTERY .. Please check the screenshots and advice me on the same ! My phone is up for almost 17hours now and has 47% battery left...
From where u got this kernel, as I can't see it anywhere

The phone has deep sleep problems. Use betterbatterystats to check what wake lock is it.
