Flashing Stock Recovery - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Alright so its been a while since I flashed things on my Bell Raider. I have a stock Bell Raider that is just rooted with an unlocked bootloader (will refer to as BL from now on).
I want to flash ICS but do not want to wipe using the Bell RUU. I have been googling around and it says it will work as long as you are as close to stock as possible which I am minus root and recovery.
I used the Bell RUU and extracted the FW.zip file, which contains the recovery_signed.img, so i need to know if its 1.) safe to flash back to stock recovery and 2.) How do i do it using fastboot command?
I want to try this first and as a last resort I will use the RUU and then upgrade.

I am at my girlfriends place ATM. I will upload it for you as soon as I get back home later tonight. Otherwise if you want to extract it by yourself from the RUU, email me @ [email protected] and I will send you the procedure.

[Q] HTC Raider on Bell - Need Stock Firmware to Restore

Does anyone have an HTC Raider 4G LTE on Bell and can provide me with a Stock Firmware? I tried a custom rom and stupid me, didn't back up my stock one .
I really need to get back to a Stock rom as it seems the custom one on this site is Korean
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
you mean like the ones posted here on XDA?

Thanks Pirateghost - I've tried the on with BM in the name as I'm guessing that's for Bell Mobility. I am getting an error 155 when trying to run the flash.
My Raider has CWM installed on it and a rooted mod. I've booted using the Power-VolDown button and put it into FastLoad. It seems to reboot when the update starts but then just sits at the HTC logo and the flash tool errors out with 155.
Any ideas?
I'm trying to extract the rom.zip from the EXE using Process Monitor. When I find the rom.zip, it seems to be corrupt. Can you confirm that the there is correct?
I was able to finally extra the rom.zip from the BM RUU and everything flashes except for the system image . It says data length is too large.
So I'm kinda stuck right now with this other ROM.
If anyone knows of another source for an HTC Holiday/Raider 4G on Bell (BM), please let me know!
Thanks
OEM LOCK the device BEFORE running the RUU upgrade!!!
Figured it out!!!
You need to re-lock the bootloader before the RUU will actually succeed!
fastboot oem lock
As I'm not cool enough to post in the Development section, can someone post an update to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351717 and let the person know there who is having the same problem I am that he/she needs to re-lock the bootloader before they can apply the RUU? [email protected]!!!

Bell ICS OTA zip file

I managed to pull out the Bell ICS OTA from my SDCard and I am sharing it for you guys!
I hope this can fix the annoying fact that we can't use stock WiFi Tether with the ATT base!
Link here: --> OTA_HOLIDAY_ICS_35_S_BM_3.38.666.2-1.65.666.3_release_255932wpop8vtj8tts3ou3.zip <--
I also have a plain Bell ICS nandroid (RUU'ed, directly OTA'ed then Backed up) if you want me to upload it, so just say me if you'd like it and I'll push it sometime during the W/End!

Is there a beats audio belt in, as in at&t build?
Question
Sorry for the dumb question, but I'm guessing this is the flashable zip by recovery same as any other ROM right?, has any one tested this already??
Thanks!
This file is the OTA update file you will get only when you have Bell's stock GB ROM already installed on the Raider. It is not a complete ROM, and if your CID is not BM___001 it will not let you update.
There is no Beat Audio in this ROM.
any luck getting this installed on a stocked rooted bell raider?
I don't really want to wipe again, buddy of mine tried by locking bootloader removing superuser but it failed.
If you are rooted, with unlocked bootloader, and SuperCID your phone, the update will not apply properly, it will even display a message saying your phone's software has been modified and stops right there.
You will probably have to start fresh again.
I managed to flash it on Roger's Raider (to use on Bell).
I was gonna write a tutorial but wasn't sure how many will actually need it the exact same way I do, here is the short version of what I did:
I was already using AT&T ICS (already have s-off, supercid, etc)
1) in fastboot, change CID to BM___001
2) in fastboot, relock bootloader
3) in fastboot, flash Bell GB RUU
4) boot into OS, update to ICS (right from "System Updates" in settings)
5) in fastboot, unlock bootloader (you will need a new unlock bin, the old one from GB didn't work for me, follow the steps at HTCDEV again)
6) in fastboot, flash custom recovery and change CID back to 11111111 if you want
7) boot into the custom recovery you just flashed, and flash supersu package
8) profit.
That's what I did anyway... let me know if anyone wants a longer version of this.
thanks but i have a stock Bell with S-ON and its just rooted. My buddie already got ICS by lock the bootloader and flashing the Bell GB RUU, but i'm looking for a way around itso i don't have to start over.
Nandroid ??

Yeah sure give me an hour or two and ill upload it (putting all the img into a zip than uploading with crappy upstream xD

EDIT 2 : System partition download link : http://www.filefactory.com/file/26estudnmg3f/n/Stock_BM_ICS_OTA_system.ext4.tar
I only uploaded the system partition because the data is empty, recovery is not needed if you want to mod it, boot is the default kernel and cache was empty as well. Happy tweaking!

If you are SuperCID (11111111) you dont have to put it back to BM___001. Just flash the RUU than flash the zip. That's what I did and it worked. i was also under ATT firmware.

Thank you soo much. I didnt want to install it just to get a "base". The last time I tried to cook a ROM was for a SGS, and by the time I could cook anything, the seasonsed devs beat me to it 4 times overs. Developement is slow/scarese for this device so I might have a chance this time. It's gonna time me 9 hours to download the damn thing though

I definitely will. I'm actually ripping through it now. I think I will make a base Bell Rom with root busybox and de-odex first. then add tweaks and such. I don't get much time to "play" with it much as I work full time and have 3 young kids. but keep checking the dev forum for a new Rom ;-)

HTC Vivid Stock Rom 2.3.4?

I just bought a HTC Vivid, and before I start rooting and doing all that stuff, I'd like to know if anyone has a 2.3.4 stock rom. I want this because if I brick it then I will be able to flash it back, and I can't seem to find one. I've been searching all over, so if anyone has a stock rom it would be very helpful!
Thank you
I hope this is the right category, just registered
Just use this...if your bricked you won't be able to use recovery to flash a Rom...here is a ruu...its not gingerbread but it will bring you to official ics stock...http://dl3.htc.com/application/htc_vivid_att_RUU_3.26.502.56_US.exe

EDIT: Wait, will this act as a flash and flash the whole OS on my vivid back to ICS 4.0? or just update it...

Okay, good. Thanks. Sorry, first time rooting
Which also means that it'll flash the stock kernel, ROM, and wipe your entire phone. Remember to relock the bootloader before running the RUU if it's unlocked.

How would I go about unlocking/locking it back up? I'm not quite sure what to do, I don't have the phone just yet, but its in the mail. I'll most likely need help rooting it when I get it..

Getting your phone flashed to the ICS RUU will help you later when flashing custom roms (as I believe all of them are ICS-based)
The Superguide sticky thread in development can help you with the Bootloader Unlock procedure and many other things like rooting and prepping your phone for the S-OFF procedure (if you want to S-OFF your phone). Link below.
Unlocking the bootloader gives you permission to flash to partitions like your recovery partition (so you can flash custom recovery like clockworkmod etc.)
Once your bootloader is unlocked, RUU's will refuse to flash to your phone until you re-lock the bootloader. To relock your bootloader, power up the phone into HBOOT/Bootloader mode, choose Fastboot, then in a command prompt, run the command:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
To confirm it worked, next time you power up the phone into HBOOT/Bootloader mode, you should see at the top of the screen **RELOCKED**
Then you will be able to flash an RUU via your computer (while having your phone in fastboot mode)
When you get to the S-OFF portion of the superguide:
If you DO want to S-OFF your phone, follow that section of the superguide EXACTLY. It has important steps for prepping your phone for the S-OFF procedure.
If you do NOT want to S-OFF your phone, note that whenever you flash custom ROMS, the kernel partition must be flashed manually via fastboot (either before or after flashing the rom - I don't think it matters if it is before or after - anyone know this for sure?). I think every ROM includes the kernel (boot.img) file inside the zip so you can copy it to the same folder that has your fastboot.exe so you can run:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Here is the superguide link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416836
Or use the toolkit...its easy and walks you through the steps of unlocking bootloader and rooting...it also has a relock bootloader option so you can relock it in a click of a button...
If your gonna use the ruu...use it before you even root/unlock.the bootloader...that way you won't have to relock it
Here's the toolkit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498003

Wow! Thank you both for your information. I'm sure that they will both help me out greatly when it comes down to rooting.
I am running 2.3.4 on my phone and looking to update next week when I get my new battery. Did you have any issues with your update? Are you running ICS now? Any advice?
Follow the user guides. It's not hard or long just make sure you read the guides so you can update the bootloader properly.
its impossible to get ahold of the RUU's for the vivid, i need the stock Bell one, seeing that i have a Virgin Mobile SIM, I'm still on GB and i want to update to ICS. already going through the process of returning to S-ON

Perhaps a new question thread is more appropriate for your issue. I recommend you do that and describe this boot loop in more detail. Also, I remember there being a thread re: s-off unsuccesful doesnt mean phone is bricked.

[Q]Somebody claim he installed OTA without relock

Hey guys
A friend told me, he updated his htc one via OTA with just flashing stock recovery and not relocking the phone.
Is it possible?
I doubt because from the begining I have read everywhere that bootloader needs to be relocked.
Thanks for your answer,

Just stock recovery and unchanged stock rom, rooted is oK, bootloader doesn't matter
there is NO need for (re-)locking the bootloader in order to get the OTA.
You should just have anything stock, i.e. firmware, recovery and unmodified hboot of course.
You receive the OTA if you are UNLOCKED and S-OFF!
Thanks guys.

OK, some dumb questions... I have a rooted stock Tmous device with 4.3 on it. The OTA obviously didn't work. I tried flashing a stock recovery I found online, but it may not have been the right one as I was never able to get it to upgrade.
So can you be specific of the steps necessary to get back to stock firmware, recovery and unmodified hboot? or is there another way to flash Kitkat easily?
I have TWRP right now, and have successfully been able to communicate with my device via ADB etc...

The T-Mobile OTA is very picky about the stock recovery. I had to run the RUU for the T-Mobile stock 4.3 which put my phone completely stock. Then it did the OTA to 4.4.2 just fine. Since I am S-OFF, it was then easy enough to unlock and root. I've since found what appears to be the recovery.img from the OTA 4.4.2 update, so when they release another OTA update, I should be able to simply flash that recovery and get the update as normal. I hope.

Can you point me in the direction of the RUU you used? Of would you DropBox it to me (or some other file share method)?
Also, I'm currently S-On, so do you think my first step is to S-Off?
I've stayed with stock because I need WiFi calling, although I was just about to try Revolution HD 61 which supposedly has WiFi calling.
Any help is apperciated.
I didn't relock, but I did s-off
I've been trying to upgrade to 4.4 for weeks and finally figured out how to do it....
1) Installed Rumrunner to get s-off. I found Rumrunner and instructions here: http://rumrunner.us/
2) Downloaded older TMOUS firmware package that I found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43383588&postcount=2 and extracted recovery.img from it (to get me back to stock recovery)
3) Used Fastboot and flashed the stock recovery
4) Ran the standard update from within 4.3 and let it follow standard OTA process
5) Flashed latest TWRP via Fastboot (for some reason the openrecovery script method from the goo.im app didn't work) which I found here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7

So I'm trying to restore my rom to stock but for some reason it's not working.

Every time I try to flash a stock rom on my M8 (H/K edition) it just boots straight to the bootloader. I've tried flashing it with and without root, and I'm getting nothing. I want to move it back to stock so I can update my firmware so I can use a particular rom.
Greetings,
I moved this to Q&A...questions should not be posted in the Development sections.
Thanks,

Relock your bootloader if it is unlocked. That is a prereq before flashing RUU
Also if you're unlocked you can flash the firmware without going back to stock...

Sounds like the kernel it's not flashing. Don't know if you figured it out yet but try extracting or finding stock boot.img and flash it using fastboot from your PC "fastboot flash boot boot.img" minus quotation marks
Thanks, I ended up finding out. The HK edition has a different stock rom than the other m8 stocks.
