You can also download the latest Gapps from Cyanogenmod website, and let the original Market update to latest Google Play. I'm flashing ROMs almost weekly and haven't found any problem with it.
Hope this helps

I used the gapps as listed at the cyanogenmod wiki with no issues.
Unfortunately, as XDA forum rules prohibits newbies like me from posting external URLs, I can't list it here.
Googl'ing "cyanogenmod wiki latest version" should return you the page as the first hit.
Ok, thats the one I have but no, market or gmail, grrrrr.... what am I doing wrong?

Are you sure, that you flashed gapps package after ROM?
I don't know if your ROM is ICS or JB, you have to choose the right package from here.

I saw on this site a lot of Jellybean rom for our device. I can not try all the roms, so I ask you "what is the most stable and fast JB rom?" And I've searched all over the web to find a Google+ apk working, but none of 4.0.1 - 4.1.0 - 4.2.3 works on my current rom (Lenio vQuattro) Could you give me a working apk?
Thank so much in Advance

Hi there
Using the GT-I9000 with Android 4.4.4. (cyanogenmod Version 11-20140916 Snapshot M10 galaxysmtd, Baseband I9000XXJVT.
By the way: I'm an absolute Beginner using custom ROMS...
Right after this actually downloaded update, i have to (re)install gapps, i think. But it is not clear to me, how to act correctly. May I use the last gapps.zip published for 4.4.4, which was downloaded and installed before (pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.4.4-20140901-signed.zip)
or is it necessary to find a new Version for gapps?
If so: what is the easiest way to find a properly Version of gapps
Thanks a lot for your help
as long as the gapps package is compatible with the rom its okay to reinstall

Hi all,
I have just re-started to use my Galaxy S after it sitting in a draw for 18 months. It currently has Rombox Beast V3.0 as the rom, and the Play Store app is miles out of date, which I am guessing is the reason for me getting errors when trying to update/download any apps.
Can I have some recommendation as to a ROM I can drop in and flash over the top of what I have, + gapps if needed, to get the phone functioning again.
Thanks
Swilly

In my opinion last Mackay KitKat Rom is the best choice for our old Galaxy...
And Dirty 8 is not bad...
Thanks both ... downloading bits and pieces at present
For the Mackay Rom, which of the various Gapps do you recommend with it
Thanks

I will recommend PA Gapps as these are most updated: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
Personally I'm using Micro Modular Package, here's direct download link: https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/TKruzze/Android 4.4.4 GApps/Mini-Modular GApps/
And you can of course use PA Gapps Remover if you doesn't need any app from the package: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50684852
Also please post in the right section. This is the development section and your thread is clearly a question :/ So please post in Q and A next time you have a question
Whatever ROM you flash please follow the instructions carefully. Bad things can happen if you don't
All that said I recommend CM11 / Mackay ROM and the smallest GAPPS package you can find

Hi all,
Thanks for your suggestions, I just have one issue now ... status 7 error while installing.
I realise from some other posts I need to flash CWM 6.03 or above (I prefer CWM to TWRP) in order to flash the ROMs, I know this is being lazy, but are there any posts out there with the necessary downloads ?? I have had a quick look ...
Cheers
Swilly
