Guys, I've been rocking my note for 2 weeks now, and I noticed that the charging with the stock samsung charger (if I use it while charging sometimes it drops % ) is reallyyy slow!
Until yesterday I used my old HTC Desire charger, and it worked as a charm, it charged way faster, but unfortunately I gave the phone to my GF and I had to get back to the Samsung one.
Looking at this thread in the AT&T version of the GNote, (http://goo.gl/RUcZ2) it looks like the problem is the stock wire not having the pins shortened. But I'm kinda lost, since I am not an expert of these things.
How did you solve this problem?
Can't you just try with another USB cable?

I didn't try the combination HTC charger+Samsung cable when I had the opportunity, and now I can't try it anymore. I opened this thread also for asking if also other people experienced the same problem and how did they fixed it

If it makes that sound, there is a shortage, DO NOT USE IT! It may cause fire. Return it to dealer for a replacement charger.
A charger should not make any sound at all.

Hi guys. Is there anything that i could do to make my galaxy note 2 charging faster using a laptop? Charging using my laptop is soo slow! Help guys!
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
That is the limit of usb on a computer. If you want a fast charge you need to charge off the wall.
Wait for kernels that pump up the charge. (not recommended)

USB outputs about 900mA to charge devices with. Note 2 wall charger has a 2A output. Do the math.

True enough; I just gave the maximum amperage you can get out of USB. Probably should have been more specific.
Something like this might solve your issue...
http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-USB2HAUBY1-Cable-External-Drive/dp/B0047AALW6
Not sure I would be willing to try it myself though.
Lol, yesterday I put it on charge at 20%, checked it after two and a half hours, and it was at 55%. I have USB 3.0 on my cabinet/MoBo, but just need to find out which one is it, but how do I do that?
This is a known issue on almost all Samsung phones that most people here aren't willing to acknowledge. The USB spec allows 500mA, but Samsung designs the recent phones to only pull 96mA. Apparently some of the modified kernels correct this.
Just be glad it's not like my old Samsung Focus. It would only pull 50mA which was less than the screen consumed. If the battery was totally dead, that phone was impossible to recharge via usb because it would auto-boot after you connected it, which would immediately consume the small charge it had acquired, thereby dying again.
Anything you charge off of a usb port will take forever.

Other brands of phone I've had seem to charge very quickly over usb. My laptops usb port will even give my ipad a full charge more quickly than my GS3.
Guys, try this. I have been using this for a few years now, works like a charm with everything, including iPads

Yes, that feature is included in a number of Asus devices, and it works really well. It's included in my Asus Sabretooth Z77 motherboard, and also on my Asus Diamond router (which has 2 USB sockets).

Why are you guys in such a hurry? I thought that it was best to charge the battery at the lowest possible amps - and the maximum should be 2amp/hour with the wall charger... so, as often as you can, charge the battery from usb, so that the battery lasts longer...?
- Bobo
Or just get a spare USB cable that you dont use to often. Short out pins 2 & 3 to force the phone into AC charge mode. You just wont be able to use that cable for data any more.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=767961
I was thinking about doing this or at least purchasing one online, but not sure what needs to be done, do I short out the CABLE or do I short out a USB port on a car charge? I read on a different thread that a guy who drives for 30 minutes, increased his charge from 15% (unmodded) to 30-31% (modded) and I think he did this to the USB port in his car charger, but not sure

My HTC One showed an warning message about not using the right charger! I was using the charger from my Samsung Note II. I thought HTC encouraged customers to reuse existing chargers? Anyone else seen this message before? I'll use the HTC charger now in case I mess-up the battery.
Its because the note 2 uses a higher amp 2 i think to charge.
I think it was the carriers that wanted to reuse old ones. But its best to use the one that came with your phone.

It's pretty neat that they warned you when you used a different charger cause if something messes up the battery, your only option is to replace the phone.
I certainly wouldn't want to use a charger that's running at 100% above the systems designed input level. I've been in a room when a L-Ion went boom.

has anyone tried charging from the usb port on a pc yet?
As soon as you plug the phone into a PC it is charging.. Much lower output. Never gonna be an issue
I think its fine to use different chargers , as long as it doesnt overcapacitate ur battery. Note 2's 2amp charger might be bad for the battery because faster charge times wear the battery faster

The phone decides how much current to draw, not the charger.
Imagine the phones sucks the energy instead of the charger pushing it.
Interestingly I didn't see that warning yet besides charging my One with fourdifferent chargers (old HTC, original One, Nexus 7 and a Sony one...)
How about using galaxy S2 and S3 charger I got both, is it safe for HTC one ?

As someone says, phone decide how much power to draw not chargher.
Chargher just transform 230V AC to XY V DC. 2A is just max power he can provide.
But phone will draw 1.5, 1.7 i don't know how much cuz i don't own it yet.
Only problem is if you have lower power chargher then phone want to charghe is that charhing will lest for hours.

Charger acts like sophisticated pressure regulator.
Its task it to take 100-240V~ convert it to steady 5V DC and provide current. How that current is used is responsibility of device internal circuitry.

One day I was away from home and my battery was low. So I had to use a Sony Xperia charger. But now my phone has problems charge.
problems such as:
-it won't charge
-it only charges to 50%
-the charge cuts in and out
-I have to leave it still or it won't charge.
Has anyone had these problems occur. This is really annoying and I would like to find a solution ASAP
*and the only charger that doesn't cause this problem is ny nexus 7 charger. But I don't want to use it. Because when I tried it, it said it's not compatible and will damage my device.

If your phone is charging half way through then It should not be the connector. Try charging through the use if laptop. Try clearing the battery stats if rooted else back up your phone and try restoring it to factory settings.

HI
greetings,
I think its a hardware problem
might be the micro usb port of the cable has to do something
try any of your friends htc cable and plug and see if the problem exist then its not the cable but the phone ....
best way is to take your phone to htc service centre
I just picked up my One today, and I'm really loving it so far...
One thing I did notice is that, with the stock wall charger, the device seems to take a very long time to charge as compared to most other devices I have owned. Has anyone else noticed this? Just wondering if it is just my imagination.
Mine was like that too.. After a few cycles it charges pretty quick.

Yeah, I have one here I am trying now. Thanks for the suggestion.
I've read elsewhere that the One doesn't have rapid charging for the sake of the irreplaceable battery.
When looking for a fast car charger, what should i be looking for? I was on amazon and there were so many and they charged at different speeds. Thanks
Any of these quick charge 2.0 chargers will do.
http://www.amazon.com/Tronsmart-Cha...sr=8-15&keywords=quick+charge+2.0+car+charger

http://www.amazon.com/Aukey-CC-T6-C...&sr=8-5&keywords=quick+charge+2.0+car+charger
Note, however, that the owners manual says fast charge doesn't work when the screen is on. So if your goal is to keep the phone charged while using Navigation or other battery draining apps, a QC charger may not help.

I'm using the Cheotech multi-coil fast charger and can navigate with screen on and stream audio via BT and increase the charge on the phone. Tested the other day on a twenty minute drive, charged up to 100 and kept it pegged there while I drove/navigated/streamed.

I use the Quick Charge 2.0 version of the exact same modal and it works fine. It is normal that the phone gets a little warm during charging, it gets warm while charging with the original adapter as well. You can always turn of quick charging from the settings.
Not to highjack the thread, but what about the bases (wireless charger themselves)? Which are compliant?
