Charging problem - TouchPad Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have a touchpad charging problem. When I plug a charger it won't charge. I guess it's bad contact, but sometimes when it's start charging the touchpad freezes so I do the reset and it's won't charging again.
Please help me fix that issue till I have some battery left...
All helpful posts will be thanked.

The charger itself is 2 pieces, make sure that they are twisted together tightly. When I first received my touchpad a loose connection in the charger caused it not to be able to charge.

Also, if you have some charge left, reboot into WebOS and see if it'll charge that way. There's an odd glitch that happens to some people (has happened to me, too), where it changes to trickle-charge even when using the stock cable and AC adaptor. Reboot to WebOS, and it'll trip it so it'll charge normally again.

This charging problem just started with my HPTP today.
It would only trickle charge with both the HP microUSB Charger and the Touchstone. It's never done that before with any version CM9 I've flashed (Both Alpha and Nightlies). It started happening today.
I decided I would reboot into recovery and wipe the Battery Stats in the Advanced section of recovery. Now it's charging and the percentage is rising again instead of slowly dropping.
But if it continues to trickle I'm going to Boot into WebOS and see if what ve6ay says will work!
Edit, yeah it's still on trickle and dropping with the charger.. Gonna keep it on WebOS and see what happens..
Edit 2: ok so, with the Touchstone, the tablet only heats up quickly and continues to discharge while on the touchstone with WebOS running.
It also continues to discharge while on the Touchstone with Android running after running WebOS like ve6ay suggested we try.
But with the Stock Charger MicroUSB connected and running Android (After running WebOS) it seems to be charging normally.

[Q] ICS CM9 Nightly (Charging Questions)

32GB TP, running 3/29 CM9 Tenderlion Nightly.
When plugged into USB-Computer, the drain outpaces the charge*
When plugged into USB-Charger, the drain outpaces the charge*
When put on a touchstone, the charge works correctly.
Why is the wall charger and or the computer not charging the TP fast enough?
*I used HP's TP cable
First, I turn off the device and fully charge. Takes about 3-5 hours for me, check using webOS. Leave it for another hour or so just to make sure. Then boot android and wipe battery stats. If that doesn't help you, try to figure out what's using your battery using watchdog or something.
Even though I don't believe wiping stats actually does anything to improve battery life, I think that it helps android system read voltage/current properly. Maybe I'm wrong, I dunno.
There's a glitch that sometimes happens, where when in Android, it sets your charging circuit to use a trickle charge mode, even when not using a non-HP charger. It happens, but nobody can really explain how.
What you do is reboot it into WebOS, plug it in, let it charge for 5-10 mins, then reboot into Android, and it should fix it.
This happens to me also with ICS roms. It's very frustrating. I haven't tried any of these methods though, really. I just figured that something was wrong with the rom. Anyone have a workaround for this besides what was said here?

In WEBOS it will only charge with an original charger just so uou know..... in Android you can charge with most anything but anything less than 2amps and 5.5 volts is just gonna trickle charge
As far as the Android install it probably just needs an update and clean boot but if you took the time to tead you would find that WEBOS DOCTOR is used to wipe android off the Touchpad

So is the battery dead or are you able to turn it on? The TouchPad needs a certain amount of poswer to charge the device. Thats why the TouchPads original charger has such a big adapter. You chould probably get a slight charge with other chargers but it will take a long time to charge.
As far as android being buggy, I would suggest the same as cdzo72 and just reinstall it. And also like he said, the webOS Doctor will get rid of android. There are also apps in preware, I believe, that remove all traces of android after you uninstall it.

the battery is dead and it wont turn on im trying with orignal hp touchpad charger but there is no power...what to do next ? like its completely black there is no power at all not even a battery sign of charging or anything like that
I'm having the same problem as stated. My battery completely drained. When tried pluggin in it gave me the message "plug in original charger" which I have except for the cable. On the home button I had no chargin light. After a couple of hours I tried turning it on pressing power+home and I got the red battery, then immediately the plug in symbol, then the "plug original charger" message.
Then I decided to plug it to my laptop. The home charging light finally came on stating that it was charging. It's been a couple of hours and I was able to plug it back to the original charger on the wall and the home light continues to show that it is charging. Unfortunately, I've tried to turn it on and I still get the message. I'm going to let it sit for a while to see if it's just not charging fast enough to even power up. I am running CM9. Not planning on going back to WebOS anytime soon. If I get it working, I will let you know.
Oh, if you have the original wall adapter, you can unscrew the actual plug off the adapter by turning it counter clockwise. Then screw it back on. Supposedly that will fix something with the actual wall plug. I don't know if that's what caused mine to actually work again.
If you regularly charge it with a Touchstone charging stand, take it off, and plug it in through the outlet and the cable that came with it, and be sure to try charging in WebOS instead of Android.

[Q] Touchpad will not charge (even in WebOS)

I realize there is a bug in CM9 related to charging.
I was doing this on a friend's touchpad, and it's become un-usable.
It would trickle charge in Android / WebOS when connected to computer, but the Wall charger did nothing at all (regardless if powered off / android or webos).
The wall-charger is the only power supply she wants because she is travelling for a couple months. Computer trickle charge will not do.
I ran ACMEUninstaller to get rid of android, but webOS and wall-charger still isn't doing anything.
The webos + computer is trickle charging still though.
I threw on CM7 in hopes of having that clean something, but something still isn't right.
I uninstalled CM7.
Anyone else experience this?
Right now I only have webos installed, and only the computer trickle charge works.. :/
I am going to try running web doctor in a bit, but I need 25% battery before it'll work. I thought I'd throw up a question in case someone else has a response.
Did you try another power supply? If it charges via a PC connection but not the wall charger I would say you have a bad wall charger, or bad USB cable.
Also try rotating the plug end of the charger and then rotating it back to click into place. Sometimes the charger won't work because it isn't engaged properly.
Similar problem
I think I'm having the same problem. I got my TP yesterday from the woot deal and installed the most current CM9. I noticed today trouble with the charging. I plugged it in overnight and it was at 70% this morning. It charged very slowly plugged into my pc during the day, but this evening I plugged it into the charger for several hours and it's at 48%. I just got this thing, is it possible the charger brick and/or cord is bad already?
Update: well, after trying about 15 combinations of cords and charger bricks I found my HP USB cord is the culprit. Not sure why it lasted less than a day, but oh well I'm glad to see it's charging now.

The HP USB cable is not particularly good quality. .. Mine died after a couple months, many other people have had the same happen too. Though having said that, the replacement cable I got FOC from HP is still alive and well.

[Q] Is my Touchpad battery dead?

I did research other similar threads, but so far I didn't find someone with similar problem like mine, so I opened this as a new topic.
So, my Touchpad displays 0% charge, and it can boot up to Android or WebOS while on cable, but it is refusing to charge. I've used HP Touchpad battery android app and it displays charging current as 0, and capacity is also 0. If I unplug the charger, it will shut down, but if I plug it back again, it will eventually boot into Android, but stays at 0.
It all started few days ago when I've plug the charger, it displayed that it is charging, but capacity was going down. So, I left it on charger overnight, and in the morning, it displayed 0, but still was on.
I've tried with charging it again, changing cables, trying with my HTC 1amp charger, 500mamp phone charger.. nothing helps.
I use ecigs, mech mods, and I use IMR batteries, and had one or two dying since I over discharged them bellow 2V. Once I managed to get one alive again by leaving it on my LiPo charger overnight, eventually it came back.
So, is my battery dead? Any suggestion, since I tried what I hoped it could help? Buying new battery and replacing it is not what I look forward to, since maybe it will be cheaper/less hustle to get new/used tablet. I love my Touchpad, would hate to have to ditch it.
What is confusing is that it can boot up when on cable..so there must be some current detected, but it displays charging current as 0.

So I assume that you've already tried charging the Touchpad using the original HP charger while running WebOS. If that is true and it still won't charge then I suspect you're right and that the battery is toast.
Yup, tried charging in WebOS, too.
Well, only think I didn't try is to find another 2amp charger, maybe my HP charger is toast, and HTC 1amp charger can't put enough current for battery app to detect.
I love my Touchpad so much, that maybe I would get a new/used on of a fleebay if this one is really a toast.
EDIT: Well, Apple gear is really made of unicorn dust While I was typing my response and browsing ebay for a replacement battery, I plugged touchpad to my old MacBook Pro 17". That is only thing I didn't try yet. After 3-4 hours, I tried to turn it on, and it was at 2%! Plugged it to original touchpad charger and it dropped to 1%.
So, probably my charger is toast. Also, interesting that trickle charging using usb port but not using HTC charger worked, and both are/should be 5V - 1amp.
Anyway, added this and will report final result just for the archives sake, maybe someone will run into this issue.
For the sake of the archives, conclusion of my problem
I think I nailed it to faulty USB port on the Touchpad. Trickle charging is working, even with original charger, but original charger doesn't provide enough amps.
Also, when I've plugged in Touchpad to my Mac or Win tablets, I got no popup to mount my TP...not in WebOS nor CM. Basically, both data and power part of USB connection is faulty, cables and charger are OK, so I concluded that my USB port is borked.
I've bought Touchstone from ebay, and if I'm right, I'll be able to charge it like that, and use Airdroid to transfer files from it.

Sometimes won't charge if plugged in

I've had my N6 for about two weeks now, and lately I've noticed it doesnt charge once I plug it in, I'll go to sleep and a few hours later its still at the same percentage, I check the battery stats page and it shows "Not Charging" I unplug it for a few seconds and the Charging icon sticks as like the phone thinks its still "charging". Another issue I've noticed just now today, it says itll take 4 hours to charge from 56%! Only way for me to fix these issues it is to restart the phone and itll work, mind you this issue only happens sometimes. Although I will say I plugged my LG G2 into the Turbo Charger, so IDK if that affects the charger in any way?
Does anyone else experience this? If this is something no one has I'm planning to swap the device out for another one.
Running SinLess ROM v1.0.3
what charger are you using for your n6? and where are you plugging into? wall or usb?

This may seem obvious but try a different cable. I had a cable that, when plugged in, my phone would say is charging but doesn't actually charge.
I've had my nexus 6 for a couple weeks now and the first time this happened I was using a wireless charge so I thought I didn't have it placed on the mat right. But it happened again last night whilst plugged into an AC charger. The AC charger is an LG charger from a previous Nexus. When I look at the battery graph it just flat lines for the whole time it was plugged in.

My turbo charger is doing the same thing the OP said. We have 2 6's and it also happened to my wife's the other day too. I thought it might have initially been a cable too so I changed that out and it happened to the second charging cable last night as well.
Just experienced this
I use the turbo charger also and just experienced this. I was at 25 % after playing injustice (which just murders this battery) and plugged in the USB and I looked back 5 minutes later at I was at 22 %. So I killed Injustice and waited about 5 minutes more and I was at 19%. I had to reboot to get charging and after 5 minutes of charging I was at 29% so it is weird stuff.
I've been noticing this as well, but my charger is an aftermarket charger by Tenergy (Amazon link), and I'm using an aftermarket cable. Missed my alarm this morning because the phone must have not actually been charging, even though the N6 always shows that it is charging. I haven't tested it thoroughly with the stock charger as I keep that next to my workstation, but it seems that others are having this issue even with the included charger. Frustrating, to say the least.
Same thing with my N6 on 5.1. I would say that 20% of the time i plug in it shows charging but doesn't charge, just maintains the battery at whatever percentage it was when i plugged it in.
I don't have to restart but rather just unplug and re plug in the charger, then monitor for a couple of minutes to make sure the battery is going up and if so it will charge normally.
I also have tried a few different chargers including the quick charger that came with the phone. same result.
the same. here
I have the same issue while charging n6 with Motorola terboxharger ... But it takes 3 h while charging with any other chargers .....any updates !!!

Wow, same here.... only just started to notice it. Using turbo charger as well...however upon using a normal charger, it seems to always charge. it it something with the turbo charger?
Yea it seems to be turbo charger problem , but how come I bought it just one month ago !!
I started noticing the same issue recently. I'd say it started after upgrading to 5.1. I'm using the stock turbo charger. I found a workaround that, so far, fixes it for me (3 nights in a row at least).
After plugging in the phone, I notice the battery icon shows it is charging. If I actually go into the battery settings though, it says it is NOT charging. If I unplug the charging cable and plug it back in while still in the battery settings page (you know, with the usage graph), then it starts charging just fine up until I get a full charge. As long as I do this each time, I seem to get a full charge. Annoying, yes. But not as annoying as waking up to à phone that never charged.
Sometimes it won't charge when it's not plugged in either
For my N6 to charge, I need to push the TC USB cable a little downwards for my phone to charge. Sometimes, it doesn't even charge at all. I'm considering to RMA this, if I can do it here in Norway.
my nexus 6 has different behaviours, if I charge it when it is turned on sometimes it stops the charging and I need to disconnect and reconnect the cable and charging starts again, so i need to be careful because i can't be sure that my phone will charge completely if i leave it alone. if I charge it when it is turned off sometimes it starts to restart continuously showing battery in the screen again and again, without charging. hopefully this happens sometimes, i dont really like this bug, i spent so much money for buying it and i dont want to control if my phone is charging or not when I plugged it, i just want to put in charging and coming bac when it is flly charged.
RMA it
I hope the first thing anybody does is check the charging port and make sure there's nothing in there. Take a strong, sharp toothpick and carefully dig anything out that shouldn't be there. Pocket fuzz etc...
I am having this same issue, my phone is brand new yesterday, running 5.0, I have these exact issues, seems to be only with the turbo charger because I use a slow charger for overnight next to my bed and the battery was full. But I can't seem to make the percentage actually go up with the turbo charger without restarting the phone first.
Any more info on this very annoying bug??
can't seem to figure it out
i have the same issue - my N6 is a couple of months old and it started on an overnight (not) charge. Now it's happening 1 in 2 charges so it's getting worse. I cleaned the connection, tried different cables, USB chargers and plugging into the laptop - no dice. It's going back to Google - annoying...
